I stood beside Merellien while he, Faeler, and Nylion addressed the royals who are in agreement with claiming dragons in any way they choose, telling them about King Ilvisar and his troupe.

“We cannot allow this to continue!” King Arbane says.

“Agreed, and that is why we are here, Arbane,” Faeler says, as if he isn’t petrified. Even if I couldn’t smell his fear like the predator I am, I would know that he was fearful because he barely lets Kenzo out of his sight. I wonder if he follows him into the bathroom to watch him shit.

“It’s time for us to take action,” Merellien says. His desire for action isn't about claiming dragons. He doesn’t care how dragons are claimed, not now that he has one. What he wants is to kill Yhendorn. He’s been the most outspoken of the elves, but ever since I told Merellien that Kenna is stronger than I am, his desire to kill Yhendorn has become all-consuming.
