The mansion stood quietly as they approached, an eerie calm surrounding a home full of wolves.

Ella stepped through the entrance first, her footsteps echoing on the cold marble floors.

Rylan followed closely behind, a tension radiating from him that Ella had never noticed before.

It wrapped around him like a constant fog.

She sensed that something was wrong even before she could articulate it.

A maid guided Ella toward the east wing while Rylan remained alert and silent behind her.

He opened the door to an unusual room.

“This will be your space,” he said.

Ella nodded as she entered cautiously.

It was stunning yet felt like a beautifully decorated prison.

The maid left them alone.

For a brief moment, they shared silence.

Rylan's gaze drifted over her face, her hands, the slight tremor in her shoulders.

He wasn't supposed to care; she reminded herself of this repeatedly.

Yet something within him was changing.

Ella turned away, focusing on the hem of her dress.

“You don’t need to stand over me as if I might run away,” she murmured.

“I won’t make things more complicated than they already are.”

Rylan stayed silent, but she noticed a shift in his breathing.

It became faster and more erratic.

Suddenly, he moved closer.

Ella felt a wave of warmth around her, mixed with an unfamiliar energy.

“Your scent has changed,” Rylan murmured, almost thoughtfully.

Ella furrowed her brow.

“I don’t understand what that means.”

Rylan's wolf stirred; she could sense it even without understanding how.

His eyes darkened, pupils widening as if something primal was awakening.

“Don’t move,” he urged softly.

Ella held still, her heart pounding violently in her chest.

A low growl began to rise from him.

Rylan grabbed her wrist, not aggressively, but firmly enough to make her gasp.

Heat flowed through her arm at their touch.

An ancient, vibrant pulse throbbed just beneath her skin.

Ella pulled back in shock.

“What just happened?”

Rylan's expression turned to disbelief.

His breathing became ragged.

“That shouldn’t have happened,” he exhaled.

Ella pressed her hand to her wrist, feeling the pulse beneath.

“Rylan… what is happening to you?”

His wolf surged again, more intensely this time.

Rylan staggered, clutching the doorframe as if it could support him.

Veins bulged on his arms, and a faint golden light flickered in his eyes.

“Step back,” he warned, his voice rough and distorted.

“It’s reacting… to my wolf.”

Ella stood still.

Fear sharpened her awareness of his quick heartbeat.

“What is it responding to?” she asked gently.

Rylan squeezed his eyes shut, battling with the transformation.

“You.”

The word hit her like a jolt of electricity.

Ella’s breath caught in her throat.

“Me?”

Rylan let out a deep, anguished growl, a sound that was both threatening and tormented.

“The bond… it’s trying to mark you.”

Ella’s heart raced painfully.

“But we hardly know each other.”

Rylan let out a harsh, broken laugh.

“That doesn’t matter to the wolf.”

He slammed his fist against the wall, splintering the stone.

The air was thick with tension.

Ella stepped back until her back hit the bedpost.

The spot where he had touched her still pulsed, warm and overwhelming.

“What am I supposed to do?” she murmured.

Rylan forced his eyes open, filled with desperation and inner conflict.

“You don’t have to do anything,” he replied.

His voice trembled, weighed down by the struggle to keep his composure.

“I refuse to claim you. I won’t let fate decide this.”

He inhaled sharply.

“Stay away from me tonight.”

He stumbled toward the door, a mix of wolf and human.

Ella watched him leave, a blend of worry and something deeper swirling in her gut.

At the entrance, he paused, gripping the frame.

His voice was soft, almost pained.

“You should never have touched me.”

Then he disappeared into the shadows of the corridor.

Ella collapsed onto the bed, her wrist still warm.

She couldn't understand wolves or connections or why her presence threatened his control.

But one thing was clear.

Rylan Wolfe was wrestling with a much greater force than either of them.

  • Taming the alpha's heart    Chapter 14 — Wolfblood Secrets

Ella sensed the changes in scattered shards, each one a glimmer of truth her mind could not yet fit together. It began with her senses. At first, she blamed stress. Sleepless nights could make the world too sharp, every sound too loud, every light too harsh. But this was something else. She heard the mansion breathe at night: the gentle sigh of wood, the far-off tread of guards circling the grounds, the secretive voices of wolves outside walls that should have kept every whisper hidden.Yet she did.She caught Lucas’s approach before his fist touched the door. She tasted rain in the air long before the sky darkened. She woke just before the morning bell, body humming with readiness, pulse calm and clear. And then there was the healing.A glass slipped and shattered as she washed dishes, her mind elsewhere. A slender cut traced her palm, sharp and stinging. Blood bloomed at once. She drew a breath, steeling herself for pain. But it never came. The bleeding faded, then ceased. Before he

Ella tried to convince herself she was done thinking about him.She clung to the lie as she paced her chambers, fingertips trembling against the cold glass, haunted by the ghost of Rylan’s grip firm, burning, unwilling to leave her skin.Remember your place. The words still burned. She hated him for them. She loathed how a single glance from him could unravel her. The bond throbbed beneath her ribs, a second heartbeat mocking her pride and anger, proof that fate cared for neither.A knock sounded at her door.Sharp. Decisive. Her breath caught before she could stop it.She opened the door to Rylan, shadows wrapped around him like armor. His jaw was set, eyes stormy with danger barely held in check.“We need to talk,” he said.Ella stepped aside without a word. The door closed behind him with a soft click that echoed far too loudly in the silence.“You don’t get to storm into my room whenever it suits you,” she said, folding her arms.“I’m aware,” he replied. “That’s why I’m here inste

  • Taming the alpha's heart    Chapter 12 — The Alpha’s Jealousy

The training grounds were bustling with activity. Boots hit earth, steel smashed against steel, and the air was heavy with the pungent smell of wolf and perspiration. Standing in the middle of it all, Rylan Wolfe corrected stances, gave commands, and exerted more effort than normal on his troops. more difficult than is necessary. "Again," he angrily said. With deadly efficiency, Rylan disarmed the pack warrior across from him, sending the sword spiraling onto the ground before he could even raise his guard. The warrior gasped, "Alpha," "I..." "Another." The sound of the word was a growl. Before the man could reply, Rylan glanced away, his eyes naturally darting to the field's edge. Ella just stood. She was talking to Lucas while maintaining a casual stance and an active expression that Rylan had never seen on his face. He felt a fundamental reaction to what he saw. Too close. In response to anything she said, Lucas chuckled softly and made the familiar, informal gesture of stro

  • Taming the alpha's heart    Chapter 11 A Luna in Name Only

The title of Luna weighed heavily on Ella, akin to a thorny crown. She felt its weight the moment she stepped into the eastern hall of the Silverfang mansion, where the walls were decorated with the portraits of past Lunas, each dignified, each powerful, each distinctly wolf-like. Their stony eyes followed her movements, assessing, judging, dismissing.Humans.That was their perception of her.Ella maintained her composure regardless.Servants paused as she passed, their bows stiff and uncertain. Some offered polite nods, while others quickly looked away. Respect wasn’t given freely in this place; it had to be earned through blood, strength, or lineage—and she had none of those. Not yet.She approached the tall windows overlooking the training grounds. Below, wolves practiced in human form, their movements precise and disciplined. Among them was Alpha Rylan Wolfe, bare-armed, dominating the space simply with his presence. His voice carried a low, authoritative, unwavering voice.Even

Ella’s POVThe moon kept me uneasy. Not because of its brightness, nor the sounds of wolves shifting outside … but because of the bond.It pulsed beneath my skin like a heartbeat that didn’t belong to me. Even after leaving the courtyard, Rylan’s touch lingered on my wrist, impossible to dismiss.I paced slowly around my room. What was I supposed to do with the truth I had sensed earlier? The spark. The pull. The way my entire being reacted to him as if I was created for that moment?I placed my hand on my chest, right where that invisible connection linked us.Mate.That word terrified me more than the entire Silverfang pack.A knock resonated at my door.Firm. Controlled.Rylan.My heart raced.I swallowed hard before opening the door.He stood there, still dressed in dark clothing, the moonlight creating silver highlights in his hair. Yet his golden, blazing gaze was colder than I had ever witnessed.“Come with me,” he ordered. No emotion. No warmth. Only authority.I followed him

  • Taming the alpha's heart    CHAPTER 9 — The Curse of the Mate Bond

Ella’s PerspectiveTonight, the Silverfang grounds buzzed with lively energy; wolves moved purposefully, guards appeared on edge, and the atmosphere resonated with something timeless. I already knew the cause of this heightened tension. The full moon.I should have stayed in my room like the other humans during the rising of the moon. Yet an undeniable force beckoned me, gentle, persistent, and completely inescapable. A feeling in my chest, as if an unseen thread was tightening around my heart.I stepped outside.Moonlight poured over the courtyard in glistening silver streams. The moment it kissed my skin, I inhaled sharply. A wave of warmth coursed through me, powerful, electric, and terrifying.“What… what is happening?” I whispered. My awareness sharpened. Every sound became amplified, the rustling of leaves, the heartbeat of a guard just a few steps away, the faint growl resonating from the distant trees. Then I sensed him.Rylan.His presence hit me like a spark. Not physically,
