ChiaraMy fingers drummed on top of the envelope on the table. My head lifted whenever the screech of a car reached my ears. I glanced at my wristwatch from time to time. When the hell was this person arriving? I was going to circumcise him if the cruise ship left me because of him. “Here is your coffee, Ma’am.” The male server placed the paper cup on the table.
“Thank you,” I said. He gave a smile before heading inside the coffee shop. I brought it to my lips, the rich scent bringing me a sense of peace and tranquility. The familiar aroma, I took my time inhaling it before finally taking a sip.
A black Aston Martin and an SUV pulled over. Marcel Conti Jr. got out, along with two well built men who stayed behind, scanning the neighborhood while he treaded in my direction.
“I’m so sorry, something came up.” He pulled a chair and sat across from me. I eyed him and then wordlessly slid the envelope to him. He undid the seal and took out the documents.
“Those are the ownership papers of the casino I told you about. Everything is already settled, but you can confirm it with your lawyer as well. You just have to put your signature on it and it’s yours. We’re even now.” I uttered, feeling my heart a little lighter.
“You really just gave me a casino in Milan.” He chuckled in disbelief, “Does Antonio know about this?” he asked, and the shock on his face was subtle but quite understandable. It’s just that I didn’t have it in me to care.
“Trust me, you wouldn’t be holding those documents if he did,” I remarked in all honesty. It was newly built and had yet to be introduced and start its operations. And I gave it to him.
“I can’t help but get cautious.”
“Give it back then, if you’re so scared to have it.”
“Scared isn’t the right word, sweetie. I just don’t want any problems in the future.”
“I’m pretty sure you can handle it.” I rose, picking up my mini bag as well.
“You’re leaving already?” He asked.
Huh? I looked him up and down. “Did you want us to camp here?” I asked. He laughed. “Goodness.” Mumbling something under his breath.
My eyes scrutinized him. “I’ll advise you something, Conti. You better take ownership of the casino as soon as possible before Antonio sniffs my game.” Then I strode to my car and asked the driver to leave. Antonio was going to raise hell on me for this, but I’d worry about that later.

I arrived at Bellagio one hour later. Fortunately, people were still arriving too. I put on my sunglasses, took my medium rolling suitcase, and asked the driver to come get me at the same place in a week.
I had no intention of falling in love or getting married. But who said I could not attend an engagement party? Of course, I had some other motives under my sleeves coming here, but hello! It was a party on a cruise hosted by the fashion icon Vittoria De Babesy! I couldn't miss it even if I wanted to.
My eyes were charmed at the sight before me. The medium-sized cruise ship was a promising escape for me.
I sauntered to the harbor. My maxi dress with green floral prints flowing along with the light green scarf around my neck. Luckily, the flower crown kept my hair disciplined today. Talk about good preparation. I was just so glad that I picked sandals instead of heels because I would’ve had it hard with the cobblestones everywhere I stepped.
At the harbor, where other invitees were also waiting. They were decked in a tropical theme as the Queen Viva demanded. Everyone was excited for the trip except me. Chatting away, laughing heartily, and taking selfies and videos.
“It’s a one-week cruise party, not a two-month vacation, for Heaven’s sake.” A voice hit my back, followed by my sneer. It was nearly impossible not to memorize it anymore. I remembered every person who caused my nerves to pop—ecpecially this one who kept appearing from behind me, everytime, everywhere I went.
However, for some unfathomable reason, I have to act all cute throughout the party. But I couldn’t promise consistency when the man made it his hobby to get under my nerves. How was I supposed to get him to fall for me at this rate? I slowly turned. A small smile was all I could afford. “Nobody asked for your opinions.” I retorted. My eyes twitched as I took him in, up and down.
He was in his light brown linen shirt and matching pants. Brown loafers, which screamed ‘designer made’ right from where I was standing. Sun hat, beaded necklace, and bracelets, which were so unlike him to wear. Sunglasses and a duffel bag. I was awestruck by his veiny arms. He purposefully folded those sleeves to choke us. He looked soft and at the same time masculine. Damn, some man just knew how to dress.
“I didn’t mention your name, sweetie. Look around you. People are so dramatic.” He gestured to the others. My cheeks heated at his words. I quickly turned away from him. Fucking hell! All I do is embarrass myself before this man. It was true that people took suitcases just like mine, and some even much bigger, which was quite dramatic for a week-long party on a cruise. But I felt insulted all the same.
What did he know about Vittoria? I took my words back. The only thing this man knew how to do was open his kissable mouth, and spout anger-worthy words at me. Every. Fucking. Time.
I ignored him and sauntered to the cruise terminals just like the others. There was an army of workers who collected the suitcases, and we got checked in once we were found to pose no safety threat. Then I was escorted to my suite.
After refreshing for an hour, the cruise started to move. Which meant the adventure had begun. I took my colorful knitted cross-body bag, put in my lip gloss and my phone before heading out of the room.
While everyone was here for the party and adventure, I was here for the party and a mission to carry out. Hopefully, I shall succeed before I end up in jail for slitting a particular sexy throat.
~135~CarmeloLife has many colors, and amongst the number of them, I found the most appealing ones to me. Black and Gold. With a wild wolf cut and coldest plus most hypnotizing brown eyes I’ve ever seen. They were alone, powerful enough to have me on my knees and begging for mercy.A little dust of freckles on the cheeks and the sweetest lips that I’ll never get enough of. Kissing her lips or smooching her cheeks has become my thing. My beautiful color speaks a lot of languages, but money is her favorite, and I love to spoil the hell out of her.Fierce in the open with a gentle and delicate heart on the inside. A Grumpy facade that intends to push people away, but my teasing always manages to leave a crack behind it. Strong but never shy to show her vulnerabilities to me. Cold but sprinkles her kindness in her own way. Dangerous, but it’s the fire in her that made me lose my senses. And God oh God, I’d willingly get on my knees and let it burn me. I’m so madly, immensely, wholehearte
~134~ChiaraI bit my lips, staring at the reflection in the mirror. I walked out of the room and went straight to his office, swinging around a black silk handkerchief. Instead of knocking, I kicked the door open. Carmelo was on a business video conference. His gaze landed on me for a brief second before returning to the laptop. Oh, I came prepared, my love. I cleared my throat and then leaned against the door. I held the handkerchief between my teeth, raised my leg up, and started to take off my net leggings, dropped it down, and then did the same with the other one.I glanced back to find him staring at me. Good. I took off the kimono next. It pooled under my feet. His lips parted, and his eyes darkened. I raised my hands and ran them both through my hair. I was left in a red thong only. “Boss? What are your thoughts on the new decor proposal?” Instead of replying, he leaned back on his chair, adjusting himself.I gathered my hair over my shoulder. My fingers traced the outline
~133 part II~ChiaraLater that evening, I was officially Mrs Conti. People were busy as the ball kicked in because my mother-in-law said she wanted a ball for the wedding reception. Who was I to deny her? I let the woman do her thing. Carmelo, who was talking to his father at their table, walked toward me. I had gone to change and came back with a lace long-sleeve black dress that was just above my knees. I coupled it with my golden jewelry and my hair held up in a messy bun with a few strands let loose. Chelsea was the one who accompanied me. “I have the love gloves of all flavours in my possession, by the way. Just say the word.” She teased. I had gone to her for condoms one time because we ran out of them the night Carmelo asked to marry me for the first time. She hadn’t let that go yet. My lips curled up in mischief, “Thanks, Chelsea. The thing is… we’re doing it hard and raw tonight. No love gloves needed.” I said. She squealed and blurted, “Girl, shut up!” She bent over her
~133 part I~ChiaraOh, just when I thought the day was the best day of my life, the Contis weren’t done giving me heart attacks. I returned home to a surprise wedding ceremony. Of course, Carmelo knew everything. He planned this with both of our families throughout the year. And the fact that I caught no whiff of it shocked me. I was focused on the vacation and nothing else. There were a number of people waiting to tend to me because the ceremony had already begun. I washed up. Some did my hair, some did my face, and some were busy with my dress and jewelry. The dress and jewelry that Viva and Leo were making throughout the year, as per Carmelo's secret request. Everyone kept me in the dark. But also, everyone worked to make this day possible.I couldn’t describe how happy this made me. And I couldn’t cry because the makeup looked so amazing. So I just sat there. I was a ball of nerves and emotions waiting to explode. I was going to kill Melo. Mamma walked in after a while.“Goodne
~132~ChiaraWhen he told me I was going to love it, diving never crossed my mind.We stood by the edge of the boat and dived in together. I knew how to dive. What I wasn’t prepared for was the meters we went below. The blue shade of the water was getting darker. Different marine animals and fish species in different colors swam with us. I raised my hand to touch a group of small fish, zoning out at how beautiful and synchronized they were. But they avoided me like I was a plague.I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned to find the man frowning in his mask. He motioned for me to follow him. He was a natural with the water current, unlike my careful diving self. I’d never dived under the sea, just for starters. Then a large bronze statue came into view as we dived to it. The Christ of the Abyss. I’d heard about it before. It stood majestically on the seafloor with hands spread wide and raised upward. The head was also tilted upward. The statue stood on a sort of styled altar which
~131~CarmeloRight after landing in Italy, coming from our one year vacation, Chiara wanted to pass by Milan first before we head home, in Portofino. I escorted her to the graveyard, where she stood for a while without saying a word. Just staring and wiping the corner of her eye. Only God knew what went through her mind.Next, we stopped at Marco’s place. Yeah, he sold the previous mansion and bought another one at a different location within Milan. Where he and their mother, Laura, lived along with the remaining of their men. Marco freed those who wanted to walk away, too. Good news, he was planning on proposing to his long hidden girlfriend soon, and only I knew about it. Then we passed by her art gallery. Then we met with her therapist since his office was around the area. Her therapist said he loved her development. And I loved hearing that.I had my own plans for her, but I worked hard to keep them under wraps and not spoil them this whole time. The helicopter landed on our pro
