Chapter 20

Lovette POV

The strange nameless guy was staring at me as I widened my eyes in shock. He was leaning against the wall, and his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made me feel uneasy.

As the seconds ticked by, the fear inside me grew until it reached a boiling point. I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to do something.

So, with all the strength and courage I could muster, I let out a blood-curdling scream. It was a primal, desperate sound, full of terror and desperation.

The strange guy flinched at the sound, taken aback by the sudden outburst. And as if on cue, Connor came running in.

“What’s going on here?” he demanded, his voice full of concern.

I fell to the floor, with my body trembling and vibrating with fear. I couldn’t speak, couldn’t form a coherent thought. All I could do was lay there and try to catch my breath.

As the darkness closed in around me, I blacked out, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as the world went mercifully black.
