Chapter 2

Author: The Evil Villain
I heard the sound of high-heeled footsteps coming from behind me. I turned around and saw Vanessa hurry over with a furious expression on her face.

When she looked around and found the bodyguards who had been hitting me, she frowned.

However, when she saw Josh with his bloody nose, her expression turned worried.

“What happened? Who hit you?”

When Vanessa showed up, Josh’s voice instantly turned soft.

“Nessa, you have to help me!”

“What in the world happened here? Who dares to beat someone else up in the Whitecastle family’s territory?”

She turned to look straight at me.

When I met her shocked gaze, I sighed and struggled to get up.

“You got here right on time, Vanessa! This involves our marriage arrangement. You have to give me an—”

She slapped me before I could finish speaking. The sting of it rooted me to the spot.

“Redmond Day, how dare you hit my husband? Do you have a death wish?”

Looking at Josh, I laughed out of anger and disbelief. I pointed at Vanessa and said, “What gives him the right to call the shots here? Have you gone mad?”

“Josh doesn’t have any bad intentions here. You’re the one who’s gone overboard, Redmond! I never agreed to the marriage arrangement. Why have you come to cause a fuss here?”

I looked at the necklace she wore around her neck. It was called the “Pearl of the Ocean.” My mother had spent fifty million dollars at an auction to get it as an engagement gift for Vanessa.

“You didn’t agree to it? Then, why are you wearing that necklace?”

Vanessa laughed in disdain at that.

“I never asked the Day family for a single cent. It was your family that threw all this money at me. Besides, as my supposed fiance, shouldn’t you be giving me things?”

I was stunned by her twisted logic. Who did she think she was?

“Well, if you’re so disdainful of the engagement gifts we gave you, you can just reject the marriage offer!”

The Day family did not need the money we spent on her, but I was always disgusted by this kind of greed.

Vanessa was shocked that I yelled at her and stumbled a step back. Josh quickly held her steady.

“You’re pregnant, Nessa. You should be more careful. It’s not worth it to get worked up because of that guy.”

My temper flared again after hearing this.

How could Vanessa become pregnant with some other man’s baby when she was supposed to be engaged to me?

“You’d better return all of the Day family’s engagement gifts as soon as possible!”

Vanessa replied, sounding flabbergasted, “Don’t you have a heart, Redmond? I got pregnant while I was still engaged to you! Shouldn’t you take some responsibility? I’ll dissolve the engagement, but I’m not returning the gifts!”

I scoffed and walked menacingly toward her.

Coldly, I said, “You’re greedy, and your man is relying on you because of me. Don’t you both just want the Day family’s money? Well, I’m telling you now that you’re not getting it!”

After comforting Vanessa, Josh grabbed a bodyguard’s baton with a vicious look in his eyes. He swung the baton at me.

“You think you’re so great just because you have money! You’re just a poser!”

I wanted to hit back, but a couple of bodyguards restrained me once again.

“Hit him! Show him who’s in charge!”

The baton landed hard on my body and split my skin.

The bodyguards did not dare to go too far, but Josh kept aiming the baton at my head.

Blood streamed down my face, and I was beaten to a pulp.

Seeing how badly hurt I was getting, the passersby all scrambled away, looking worried.

“Learned your lesson now, punk?”

My body was at its limit. Meanwhile, when she saw me bloodied, Vanessa waved a hand in disgust.

“Enough. He’s learned his lesson.”

She walked forward to stand before me. Condescendingly, she said, “You don’t know how much Josh has suffered because of the marriage arrangement between us. The engagement gifts are just small forms of compensation, and they’ll be used to raise our baby. I still haven’t paid you back for the grief Josh has gone through.”

“How can you be so unreasonable?” I demanded.

“You don’t need to explain anything to this sort of person, Vanessa. He will never understand the love we have,” Josh said.

Seeing the two of them disgusted me. I was already determined to destroy the Whitecastle family.

“How dare you let them do this to me, Vanessa? Do you want to drag your family down with you?”

“In the end, Ms. Whitecastle took her life on the way to jail. The strange thing is that she and Josh Blakely both killed themselves at the same time.”After hearing the report from my assistant, I threw my phone to the floor. “Curses! Now, I look like the bad guy! Tell me, did I do anything wrong?”“No, sir. You were only unlucky. You shouldn’t have gone to their parking lot alone. You were only unfortunate enough to bump into that nutjob. He was the one who beat you up. You weren’t at fault.”After hearing this, I moved my legs a bit. Then, I stiffly turned around and said to my assistant, “Very good. You’re absolutely right.“The company has an important meeting in two countries at noon tomorrow. I’ve decided to send you.”“Don’t joke, Mr. Day. How can I attend a meeting in two places at once?”I put on a charming smile before patting Henry on his shoulder before saying, “Good job. You’re capable of identifying problems in your life. You’re right. I plan to send you to both

Meanwhile, Vanessa was in the police station. “Please cooperate with us, Ms. Whitecastle.” Every member of the police force was present, including its top leaders. They were all there to deal with the assault. “Let me out! I’m having a miscarriage! Are you people trying to kill me?”The officer on duty banged the desk hard when he heard Vanessa’s cries. His expression was stern. “Ma’am, we’ve already gotten an expert to examine you. You’re not even pregnant!”The police officer was at the limit of his temper. Vanessa had been yelling her head off from the moment she got in. “What nonsense! Can’t you see that I’m bleeding? I’m six months pregnant!”Vanessa was crying as she wiped away the blood flowing between her legs. The police officer on duty was out of options. He could only suppress his anger and say, “I don’t know why you haven’t done a proper check-up, but you’re really not pregnant!”“Then, why have I been hurting so much down there?”“You probably just have he

When Vanessa heard this, her face went even whiter. “No, it’s impossible! This is all fake!”The Day family’s ambulance drove in. I commented as I watched the commotion, “The Whitecastle family is so big and influential. Maybe someone forgot to pay a couple of hundred million dollars in taxes.”“How dare you accuse us of such falsehoods, Redmond? The Whitecastle family is innocent!”“Is that so? Then, how is it that my assistant has just sent me proof of your tax evasion? Forget it. I don’t think you’re getting out of here that easily. It’s either the police station or the courthouse. You’re really quite busy, Ms. Whitecastle,” I mocked. Vanessa replied disdainfully, “Give it up, Redmond. The Day family will fall before the Whitecastle family does!”“Then, let’s just wait and see how things shake out!”I waved a hand and was pushed toward the ambulance, leaving behind Vanessa and Josh. They stood rooted in place and in a daze. In the ambulance, I listened quietly as Henry ga

The bodyguards before me nodded in unison. When Vanessa saw the insignia on the car, her face immediately went white. The insignia was a shield of platinum, and it represented the world’s top security company. It specialized in emergency security jobs. As I lay on the stretcher, I could not help but smirk. Then, I burst into laughter. “Don’t be so worried, Ms. Whitecastle. Take your phone out. For all you know, there might be good news waiting for you!”Right after I said this, her phone rang. Vanessa frowned as if she was getting a bad feeling. “M-Ms. Whitecastle, for some reason, every single one of our business partners is saying they want to break relations with us. All of the company’s higher executives are also resigning at the same time. All of our capital inflows have been cut. The company is going bankrupt!”“Stop messing around, Redmond! Don’t think that we’ll be afraid of you just because you’ve got your men here!” Josh yelled. He was standing off to one side.I

“Are you alright, Nessa?” Josh looked at Vanessa worriedly. Vanessa looked at the blood and yelled, “I didn’t think you were so heartless, Redmond! Break his legs!”At that, Josh looked at me. His eyes flashed with a slight frenzy. He got into the car, and he had the bodyguards position me with my legs in front of the tire. “You’re dead, Redmond!” he yelled as he hit the gas pedal. “You’re too kind, Vanessa. The Day family is nothing now. He injured you, so I want his whole family to pay for it!”Lying on the ground, I panted hard. The car was getting close to me, and I could feel the pain of the tire pressing down on me. “You’d better stop now, Vanessa! If you do, you can still get out of this!”Josh looked at Vanessa and said, “You shouldn’t be merciful to this sort of person, Nessa!”Vanessa shot me a vicious look. She gritted out, “You’re nothing but a beast, Redmond!”After she said this, Josh released the handbrake, and the car rolled ruthlessly right over my legs.

When she heard this, Vanessa chuckled as if she had heard a joke. “Two years ago, I might have considered the reputation of our two families. Now, though, the Day family is nothing!“The Whitecastle Group has gotten countless contracts in the past two years. We’re leaders in all industries. Your family only holds a couple of assets. You became irrelevant ages ago. ”I swallowed a mouthful of blood and glared at her. “Without the Day family, no one would ever have taken the Whitecastle Group seriously! You think too much of yourself!”Vanessa had no clue that the Whitecastle Group only got all those partnerships because the Day Group vouched for them.I could not believe that Vanessa would think the Whitecastle Group owned Genera just because the company got a few measly contracts. At that thought, I burst into laughter at their ignorance. Josh was furious when he heard what I said. He grabbed me by the hair and said threateningly, “Don’t think you have any power here, Redmond!
