After having a very delicious lunch in the Ginny restaurant we strolled back to my apartment which was off campus--it was just ten minutes walk from campus.
When we reached the building I greeted Lewis who was our Gardner, he was tall and quite old, probably in his early 60s, but he was very friendly and he always wore a beaming smile on his face.I fished for my keys in my handbag when we arrived at my doorstep."I can't find my keys," I alarmed Emily and continued searching for my room keys, after twenty minutes of a fruitless search for my room keys, I gave up. I turned to Emily and she immediately understood the situation we were in."Don't worry yourself too much, Dakota," she said calmly and I began wondering why she was thus calm. She's always calm in times like this. Didn't she know that we are stranded here without my keys?"Relax, Dakota, you gotta learn how to worry less, Dakota." Relax really? Every fragment of me was worried about my room keys, if I lose them, it would be catastrophic. How would I relax about this?"For goodness sake, Emily, I can't find my room keys we can't go to the party if I don't find them because I won't be able to change my clothes." I explained to her."I know." She replied. If she knew why was she so relaxed?"So, what are we going to do?" I placed my hands on my hips waiting for her to say something."Nothing," was her reply.I guess I will sleep in the streets today."I am tired of-""Relax, I have the spare keys." She said and brought out a bunch of keys. How did she get them?"How did you get them?" I voiced my thoughts and she grinned."You gave them to me, have you forgotten?" She said and sighed.I just remembered that I gave them to her earlier this month when I changed my keys to a new one. I wasn't any good at remembering and keeping things, so I gave most of my things to Emily to keep for me in case something like this happened, she was like my storehouse."You don't have to worry about every single thing, you have to relax and think." She said and facepalmed herself."You see, you have to relax and think," she repeated. I know she has said this for the hundredth time if I could recall, she always told me that in times like this. Now could she just give me the spare keys?I know she made some sense in her statement but I was never relaxed and I worried about every single thing. She dangled the bunch of keys in my face and I tried collecting them from her but she moved her hands backwards.I frowned."I'm not ready to play a get-it-if-you-can game with you, Emily, just give me my keys," I said biting my lips, I needed to do something to collect the keys from her unless I would be here all day.I tried reaching for the spare keys again but she raised her hand above my head. Was she mocking me cause of my petite height?"I know you are taller than I am but please can I have the spare keys back." I practically beg her jumping like a grasshopper trying to get the spare keys from her hand. I knew that I was short and she was taller than I am, I was 5'2 and Emily was 5'9. I went through a lot in secondary school because of my height."I just gave you some advice, what are you supposed to say?" She raised an eyebrow."I don't know what to say." I stopped jumping and placed my hands on my hips, demanding my keys."You have to learn some manners, Cruise." She narrowed her eyes and I rolled my eyes."Thank you," I said in a sluggish tone and she smiled."Learn how to use the magic words quite often, Emily" She told me pinching the bridge of her nose. She tossed the key at me and I gladly caught it. I opened the room door and headed straight to my room and crashed onto my bed. My apartment was a very small one, it was a one-bedroom flat with a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom. My room was very small and only a small bed, a study desk and a small wardrobe could fit in it. My room was small but very beautiful, I spent a lot of time decorating the room, I had many artistic posters in my room, I added glitters to the tiles and I also installed colourful led lights in the room.My apartment was small but I loved it."Home sweet home," I said with my voice muffled by my mattress."Get your lazy ass off the bed and let's prepare for tonight." She dragged my legs and I crashed on the tiled floor.Ouch."I don't want to go again," I faked crying and Emily rolled her eyes. "I want to stay here."Here was so comfortable that I was finding it difficult to leave, I wanted to spend the rest of my day on my bed and in the dream world."Don't even say that." She glared at me. "So you don't want to attend the frat party again?" She asked in a scary voice and I gulped."Yes, I will," I said sighing, there was no getting out of this. "But I won't stay long."Emily became happy and started jumping around my room like a loose frog."Alright, let's get you dressed up," she said with a big smile on her face--the biggest I have ever seen. She headed to my small wooden wardrobe and began searching for the clothes I would wear to the party which I was strongly against attending."Why is Luke like that?" I asked and lay on my bed once more, I was still thinking about my encounter with Luke, I did not know why I could not forget it, anytime I close my eyes all I could see was him."How the hell do you expect me to know, I'm not his mama," she said, her hands still busy looking for a dress for me in my wardrobe."I know there are some reasons why he behaves like that, do you know?" I paused, I know that it seemed like I was a stalker but I didn't care I just wanted to find out more about him, there was this curiosity in me which was all about him that I want to quench so badly. "I know that you know a lot of things happening on campus, so you should know some things about him."Emily heaved a sigh and her facial expression said it all; she knew nothing! What she knew about him was what everyone knew about him, a new student who never talks with anyone, handsome and breathtaking though but as silent as a graveyard. I could remember vividly the few seconds I was with him, and I nearly choked because of his scary aura which was as thick as a fog...what was he really?DAKOTA'S POV. Because of all the commotion and we losing our house to a fire, we moved to our grandparents' house-- my dad's father-- his house was a classical manor in the countryside with a courtyard thrice as big as our former house. My grandfather was a professional golf player, though retired, he owned a golf club and he had a golf court in his courtyard and he played golf in it whenever he had some free time. When I entered the house reception a river of nostalgia hit me, this was one of the reasons I didn't like coming here it brought back memories of when I was little. I remember spending most of my time here as a child especially whenever I was on holiday, now I barely come here apart from a few occasions like this. We were greeted by maids in well-pressed black and white uniforms, and then they showed me the room I was going to stay in. Since we didn't have a house we were going to stay here till we bought or rented another one When I entered the room the maids bowed bef
Dakota's POVWhen it was almost evening we went to our meeting spot, the coffee shop and Luke ordered two cups of hot coffee. After he ordered the cups of coffee he didn't utter a word he just drank his coffee and I stared at him waiting for him to say something. I looked around the coffee shop, and I realised why Luke used here as our meeting spot, it was because he loved coffee so much and who would even think that we would use an ordinary coffee shop as our meeting spot to discuss very important things? The coffee shop was just a few miles away from my parents' house that got burnt down, and I was tempted to go and see what the place looked like now, Ihadn'tt still contacted my parents and my brother, I couldn't just imagine how worried they would be. "So about the bounty," Luke finally spoke and my attention became focused on him. "I found out something very interesting when I went through the Nine's database.""What?" I asked and my eyes widened out of curiosity."I've confirm
DAKOTA'S POV I woke up with a slight headache and a pain in my chest, my chest still hurt because of what happened yesterday, I still couldn't believe it and I yearned to speak with my parents and my little brother. But I couldn't contact them immediately if I did it could reveal my location and put me in grave danger.I let out a yawn and looked around the room, this room seemed like it was a guest room. It was big, tidy and beautiful. I liked the curvy design of the white reading table by the wall and the glittering golden lamp holders on the wall. I perceived a nice smell and it was coming from the living room. I got out of bed and I went to the bathroom to wash up, the bathroom was quite big and it had a shower place, a bathtub and a toilet. There was also a TV screen and sound system in the bathroom and it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I didn't feel comfortable using the bathroom but I had to get rid of all the dirt and sweat on my body. I also needed a long shower t
DAKOTA'S POVA few minutes after the gigantic man was gone Luke without warning lifted me into his arms and he started levitating in the air. "Don't worry, I'll get you somewhere safe Dakota." He muttered and I didn't utter any words. He began moving fast in the air and whirls of cool breeze brushed past my face making strands of my hair dance around. It was so cool and cosy here, that I almost forgot what just happened. His hands firmly held me as he carried me in princess style, even though I was mad at him, my cheeks became as red as hot sauce. But still, I didn't know why I was letting him take me to a place I didn't know, I didn't trust him a bit now, he told me that there were no other persons who were Cyborgs like him, he told me that he was the only one, but it was all a lie. It was obvious that that monstrous man was modified like Luke. If Luke and that man existed that meant others were like him, if so, then we were not safe on this planet. People who possessed mysterious t
DAKOTA'S POVAfter Justin found out that Luke was coming here from time to time he assigned an undercover agent to watch over me, I tried to convince him that there was no need for that but he didn't want to hear me out, he deemed Luke too dangerous for him to come around me with me so vulnerable. He even told me that he should have been the one watching over me but he had to keep an eye on Luke always and he was also busy finding who placed the bounty. They could never get along because of their personalities and jobs. I sighed and then turned to the man wearing a black suit and dark shades standing by my room door. He had been standing there for more than an hour without uttering a word and he followed me everywhere I went to, even to my room! If not for the words decency and privacy he should have been following me into the bathroom and the changing room. He was now living with us, it was Justin's orders, he wanted him to watch over me all the time till all the problems were solve
Luke's POVI arrived at the secret lair and it was unusually quiet, Dr H was planning something big and everyone was busy helping him accomplish his plans. My mission to Russia was two weeks from now, it would be hard for me to go on a mission like that cause I would be gone for a long time and Dakota would notice my absence. Justin was a problem too, since our encounter in Dakota's house he had been keeping a very close eye on me, and it was very annoying. I walked into the conference room and it was empty too, it seemed like the nine generals were not around or they went on missions. I guess the reason why no one has figured out about me and Dakota was because they were busy with so many things. As a member of the 9ine, your every step was monitored, if you betray, you die. If you try to compromise, you die. If you try leaving, you die. If you were not careful, you die So I was taking a very big risk helping Dakota...I facepalmed myself and then muttered, "Why was I even helpi
