Chapter 11

"Seriously?" My lips parted at him.

He just nodded.

I looked down on my lap as I played with my fingers. "Is that how you despise the idea of marrying me?"

I thought we already established a good bond even just for the convenience thing. I couldn't blame him after all He never liked me. It was normal for him to desire to escape the responsibility he never wished for. I don't know why my heart is aching though, damnit.

"I don't despise you, Kira."

"You don't have to pretend. I see it." My lips thinned as I nodded. "I feel it."

"Kira, it's not that..." He gasped. "I just thought if you could have a choice, you'd prefer someone else than me. You always pinpoint how short-tempered I am and Gonzalo, Gonzalo is more patient than me, more understanding, and more friendly."

"As if it isn't obvious." I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I know. That's what everyone says about us, anyway he offered us a proposal and I found it unfair if I wouldn't even let you have the chance to choose."

I looked at him and as our eyes met, magnetic energy drool me into staring at his golden eyes deeper like I was swooning at stars glittering in the sky.

"I'll think about his proposal." I swallowed deeply before looking away when I almost melted at his tantalizing gaze.

"Just bear in mind that whatever your decision will be, I'll accept and respect it." He smiled without showing his teeth.

I just nodded at him, losing all my energy to communicate, feeling drained.

Since I was still in shock with what happened last night, Fenris allowed me to not have training for the day. He let me rest almost the whole day, just visiting me from time to time in my room. He didn't force me to go out and have lunch with him instead he brought foods into my room that I barely even touched. I just took the apple and that was it.

I didn't really plan to go out. I couldn't even get my butt off the bed. Maybe because I didn't wanna see Gonzalo nor Fenris. It was reminding me of how Fenris would willingly give up on me. My body was pulling me to just lay while my mind was deep thinking about the choices he gave me.

I flinched when someone knocked on my closed door. My brows crossed, staring at it. Fenris never knocked. Did he finally let Vilka free?

"Come in!" I shouted while my back remained resting on the headboard of the bed.

My lips parted when Gonzalo showed up, holding a tray of food.

"You should eat." He put the tray down on the bedside table. "Fenris told me you just ate an apple for lunch."

"Where is he?" I asked.

"He left, so I'll take care of you for tonight. I brought soup and steak; what do you want?"

I stared at Gonzalo while he was looking at the food. He was downright attractive as well. I just noticed the earing on his right earlobe; it made him look like a bad boy but his smile and the dimples were quickly fading that idea away.

"I'm still full." I looked down on my lap. Fenris didn't even inform me that he was gonna leave.

"Your last meal was lunch, it's six p.m already, feed your tummy again."

"I said I'm full."

He chuckled. "If you're sad, annoyed, or angry, it's not your tummy's fault. Don't let that poor stomach suffer." He pinched my waist.

My lips thinned, somehow I wanted to smile but I forced myself not to. Fenris was right; Gonzalo was way more approachable than him. He was looking like a happy-go-lucky guy. A light and fun werewolf to be with.

I didn't further argue anymore and just ate what he brought for me. I was focusing on chewing but the side of my eyes could see how deep he was staring at me.

I sighed. "Can you stop staring?"

He grabbed his champagne glass and played with it, shaking the wine inside it while his gaze was there. "What? What do you mean stop staring?" He laughed. "I'm not staring at you. I'm staring at this beautiful red wine."

I puffed a laugh as I shook my head. "If you say so," I said before continuing eating.

Still, I could feel his deep stares sometimes but every time I was gonna look at him, he would turn his stare at his wine, and then I would chuckle. Yeah, he has humour.

After eating, he fixed the emptied plate on the tray before he sat on my bed beside me, resting his back on the headboard as well.

"Am I allowed to sit on your bed?" he asked after he just did.

I rolled my eyes. "You're already in my bed."

"Damn right I am." He acted surprised.

I just shook my head, smirking. "Where are you from, by the way?" I asked after he told me that he was suddenly in Fenris' mansion because of an urgent meeting about Moonlight Claws and Thunder Hunter plus he has businesses here.

"I'm from Norway. Moonlight Claws and Thunder Hunter's territory are just a giant wall away. We're like neighbours with a good neighbourhood." He was smiling the whole time while he was telling stories about his pack and Fenris' pack. He was such an optimistic type of guy based on what he was saying about his journey of being an Alpha.

"Fenris told me that a member of your pack happens to be experiencing the same uncontrollable transformation as Vilka. Did that werewolf also accidentally bite a human?"

He shook his head. "We got it under control before she could even hurt someone. She's caged for almost two months now, stuck in her werewolf form. As of the moment, you're the only one I knew that has been bitten by a werewolf accidentally." He played with the rings on his fingers. "Fenris mentioned that you're thinking about my proposal. Come on! Do you really need to double think?" He jokingly pointed his face, emphasizing how handsome he was.

I just laughed, thinking of another topic. "You said you're very close with Fenris and Vilka but Vilka never mentioned a name Gonzalo to me."

"He never mentioned me?" He raised his right brow.

"No." I guessed Vilka wasn't really that transparent to me as her best friend.

He cleared his throat. "I'm gonna be honest. Vilka and I were in a relationship before."

I looked at him with wide eyes. "Are you serious?"

He nodded, now with just a slight smile. I blinked multiple times, remembering the story Vilka told me, that she was once madly in love with a man, but unfortunate events happened that led to their breakup. She never mentioned his name but--- I examined Gonzalo's face. He was the type that Vilka would get attracted to.

"What happened? Why did you guys break up?"

He shrugged. "Unfortunate events, I guess."

I punched him in the shoulder. "You're aware that Vilka is my best friend, right?"

"I'm fully aware, but our relationship ended and we both moved on. It's not a big deal anymore if I'm gonna marry you, besides it's for her and her brother. I will owe the responsibility."

I doubt Vilka already moved on. When she mentioned the man she loved so much, she almost cried and I saw how her eyes painted sadness just by thinking about the man. If Gonzalo was the one she was referring to, then I couldn't marry him. I don't wanna be a traitor in her life.

"And you're proposing to owe the responsibility for what?" My brows crossed. "What are you gonna gain from marrying me?"

"I'm gonna gain a stunning woman---"

"Oh shut up!" I laughed and shook my head. "I can't hurt Vilka."

"Hurt? She's not gonna be hurt. Our relationship ended a long time ago. She's not affected to me anymore."

"You don't know that." I gasped. "And I can't be with a man who my friend loved even if it was in the past."

He raised his hand in surrender. "Okay, but still think about it. Vilka and I are good friends now, no hard feelings."

I didn't utter any more words. Maybe I could consider his offer but only if I had Vilka's approval. Since Vilka was still stuck in her werewolf form, I couldn't ask her about it. I gasped, I'm really hoping that everything will be okay and Vilka will come back to her normal werewolf-human life.

When Gonzalo left the room, I sighed, finally I could peacefully rest, closing my eyes. I woke up with the sunlight waving on my face, it was already bright and shiny. My eyes widened in the wall clock, I sighed in relief; it was still early in the morning. I have time to prepare for our training.

I took a quick shower before wearing a white sports bra and black biker shorts. I tied my hair in a ponytail, loving that look of mine because of Fenris' compliment, long days ago.

I also had time to check the dining area for breakfast; there was a pancake on the table. I grabbed the note beside the plate and read it.

'Eat your breakfast. I'm waiting in the garden. We'll practice your offensive and defensive skills today; be ready.'

I shrugged and ate the pancake he made. I arrived in the garden like an early bird full of energy. I guessed I had enough rest yesterday except for the fact that I was still thinking about Gonzalo's proposal and whether should I accept it or not. Well, probably Fenris wants me to accept it but whatever.

"Good morning, my mate." Fenris stood when our eyes met while I was approaching the fountain beside his cemented chair.

I rolled my eyes. He dared to call me mate yet he was gonna give me to someone else.

"Good morning, my fiancé for convenience," I said sarcastically.

His reddish, glowing lips slightly parted. His eyes were like scrutinizing mine, making my chest thumped in electricity travelling around my nerves. He looked like he was gonna punch me in my face but he just nodded.

"Did you eat the pancake your fiancé for convenience prepared for you?" He was more sarcastic yet his baritone voice still sounds so good in the ears.

"I did. Thank you for that. It's a bit salty though." I lied. I loved everything he cooks.

"I didn't know you don't have a taste for good things."

I laughed sarcastically. "Funny, I like you. Does that mean that you're not one of the good things?"

The side of his lips rose. "You like me?"

I stopped laughing as my chest punched me, realizing what I just said. My cheeks heated like my face was about to explode.
