登入Roseline's POV…
Only one person has called me Rose all my life. My father.
Florian didn't kiss me back, he broke away.
I tried to mask my expression so it wouldn't show how much it stung.
Now not only did I feel sad but I felt stupid.
No one has ever turned me down.
I kissed him because I didn't want to think about my father and the fact that he cut me off.
I needed an edge, something to take my mind off it, I was wrong to think Florian could give me that.
I was certainly due for another night out, but I knew my father was keeping track of me waiting for me to slip up.
I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of being right.
I had to prove to him that I could do just fine on my own and I wasn't the spoiled Billionaire's daughter he painted me out to be.
“Are you okay?”
I wiped the last bit of tears, “Why won't I be?”
“You were just crying… You know you don't have to be strong around me.”
“I said I am fine.” My tone came off a bit harsher than I intended.
I stood up to leave but he stopped me holding me in place.
“Is it because of your father?”
I glared at him, “What happened to not crossing certain lines?”
I freed myself from his hold.
I took my bag from the locker room and left.
I didn't realize how late it already was until I went outside.
Everywhere was pitch black.
But I kept walking, hopefully I would be able to catch the last bus.
Just when I arrived at the bus stop, the last bus was already leaving.
I ran towards it, yelling for them to stop but the driver kept moving.
He probably didn't even see me.
I gave up when I lost sight of the bus.
I slouched down on one of the sidewalk benches.
My phone kept buzzing in my hand with Florian’s calls.
I didn't feel like even seeing him or even dealing with him right now.
His mixed feelings are so annoying. One minute he wants me and is asking me not to deny the attraction between us, while the next he is harsh and cold towards me.
I was too pissed to deal with it right now.
I tried calling for an Uber, but most of them were busy.
Turns out there was some big event happening in the city and most of them were already booked.
Great! Just my luck.
Florian still kept calling while I kept ignoring.
Just when the buzzing stopped, a black Mercedes pulled over.
The window rolled down and revealed Florian’s furious gaze.
“Get in,” Florian ordered.
I folded my arms across my chest, “Oh now you offer free rides…” I drawled sarcastically.
“…I would rather walk.”
“You would walk a whole mile… just diss your pride and get in”
I ignored him and started walking.
The breeze suddenly became chilly, but I wasn't backing down.
I hated being told what to do, in the restaurant he may be my boss or my roommate back at the apartment but out here he had no control over me.
Who is he to order me around?
The sky roared as I kept walking.
“Come on don't tell me you are on his side too?” I whispered beneath my breath.
Florian kept following me closely in his car as I walked.
“It's going to rain, get in.”
“Not the first time I have been soaked.”
“You would catch a cold if you get soaked twice in a day.”
“Would rather cut my losses.”
A few steps further and the rain started pouring, in a second I was drenched.
That makes it twice in one day.
Florian wasn't patient anymore with my protest, he got out of the car and dragged me all the way to the passenger seat.
I didn't have it in me to leave because I was already shivering to the bone.
He just shook his head in disappointment before buckling his seat belt.
He turned on the heater before he started driving.
I was silently grateful for it as I couldn't speak from the cold.
As the heat brushed over my skin I became aware of the fact that the rain had made my clothes almost transparent.
I hated bras but today I wished I had worn one.
My nipples poked hard through the fabric like they were personally begging for attention.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.
Florian picked up on my discomfort, “Are you still cold?”
“A bit,” I lied.
I wasn't cold anymore, even though my clothes were still soaked. Heat ran through me.
Not sure if it was from the heater or the way my body responded to Florian beside me, like it had a mind of its own.
Coupled with our little fight and earlier kiss my body was betraying me.
“I have an extra set of clothes in the back. I can pull over so you can change into something dry.”
“Yes please.” I tried my best to sound as casual as I could.
He found a parking spot and pulled over.
I got in the back to change, and in another moment I regretted not having a bra on.
His focus was on the road, so he didn't get to witness my dilemma.
I shuffled quickly to change. I didn't want him peeking.
Though a part of me was certain he wouldn't do that…but still.
It wasn't like he hadn't seen every inch of my body, as a matter of fact our first night together happened to start from the back of a car only that this was fancier.
My face flushed as memories of that night played in my vision.
The way I rode on his finger helplessly.
Oh, what I would do to feel them buried deep in me once more.
I cleared my throat pushing those thoughts away.
When I was done dressing I allowed myself a moment to catch my breath, I didn't want him to see how flushed I was.
I was pretty sure my face was as red as a tomato.
Speaking of fancy.
As I dressed I got to finally get a good look at the car, how on earth was he able to afford this?
Roseline's POVI walked away, the weight of what I’d just heard was heavy on my mind. Across the room, I spotted Florian at the punch table, laughing at something one of the chefs had said. He was entirely unaware of the thoughts crashing through my mind. Watching him, I couldn't help but wonder what exactly was going on. There was something he wasn't telling me, a hidden truth tucked away.I could feel it, sitting there quietly beneath his smile like a shadow he was trying hard to keep hidden. But before I could dwell on it too long, someone grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the middle of the kitchen."Come on, Roseline, you can't just stand there all night!" one of the junior chefs, Amara, said, already dragging me into the small crowd that had gathered.Someone had found an old karaoke speaker tucked away in the storage room, and before I knew it, half the kitchen staff were taking turns belting out songs, most of them horribly off key, all of them having the time of their lives
Roseline's POV""What are you doing here?" I asked, the words catching in my throat. She didn't answer. Instead, she stepped toward me with a warm, easy smile, as if she hadn't been absent from my life for years, as if the wreckage of our past meant nothing at all.Noticing the sudden shift in my posture, Florian squeezed my hands. "Everything okay?" he murmured.I nodded slowly, though my eyes remained locked on the woman standing in front of me. She possessed a striking resemblance to my late mother. This was Aunt Tilda. For years, merely hearing her name turned my stomach; seeing her in person was entirely worse. She had abandoned our family the moment my mother drew her last breath, vanishing without a trace. In the beginning, panic consumed us. Terrified of what might have happened to her, my father went so far as to hire a search party, but the trail went cold. It wasn't until a few years ago that a family acquaintance spotted her in Paris. She wasn't just surviving; she was th
Roseline's POV…I stared at the long line of chefs ahead of me, most of them gently arranging their equipment. It was finally the day of the cookathon, and while everyone else seemed buzzing with excitement, I was completely detached.Earlier this morning, I got the call: my father had suffered another medical episode. It was severe enough that they couldn't even risk moving him to a hospital; instead, they had to rush a doctor directly to the house. I’ve been rigid with tension ever since, my mind completely consumed by the fact that I haven't been able to see him.“Are you good?” Mr Teddy asked.I nodded slowly and tried to form a warm smile. After a few minutes the cookathon began, chefs assembled at their different posts and we began cooking. They gave us one hour for the first round. The sound of dicing onions, a clattering spoon, and chopped herbs filled the room.At the front, the judges sat with pens and paper in hand, watching our every move as we cooked. When the time came f
Roseline's POVI stared at his back, at the way he ran out of the dining room so suddenly, his chair nearly toppling over behind him."Florian, wait!" I called out, but he refused to look back. He just kept going, straight through the hallway and out toward the balcony. My father frowned, setting his fork down. "What's wrong with him?""I have no idea," I said, already pushing my own chair back. "Let me go check."I found him standing by the balcony railing, his hands gripping it so tightly his knuckles had gone pale, his eyes fixed somewhere far off in the distance, like he was seeing something that wasn't really there."Florian." I stepped closer, my voice soft. "What's going on?"He didn't answer right away. For a moment I just stood beside him, listening to him breathe, watching the tension in his shoulders slowly begin to loosen."It's nothing," he finally said, still not quite looking at me. "I was just reminded of a terrible past experience. That's all. I'm fine."I studied hi
FLORIAN'S POV"Who's that?" I asked her but she quickly grabbed the photo from my hands and threw it back into the drawer."Hey wait, why don't you want me to see it?" I turned to Roseline, her cheeks were so red, she was almost turning into a tomato."It's nothing, forget you saw it" she said, refusing to look at me.I wasn't going to let it go that easily. I reached into the drawer before she could stop me and pulled it back out, finally getting a proper look at it.It was her. A baby version of her, chubby cheeked, completely bald, with the biggest, most confused frown on her tiny face, sitting inside what looked like a bucket instead of a proper bathtub.I burst out laughing."Give it back!" she shrieked, lunging for it, but I held it out of her reach, laughing even harder at the way her frown in the picture matched the one she was giving me right now."You were bald!" I managed to say between laughs. "Roseline, you had no hair at all.""Florian I swear—""And why were you in a bu
Roseline's POV“Did you just say Fiancé?”he asked. His eyes widened in shock.“Yes, we recently just got engaged”I said, the words falling out of my mouth without hesitation. My father had never actually imagined me settling down. Despite all his lectures to the contrary, he fully expected me to tune him out, just like I always did. But this time was different.I wanted to do anything to make him happy while he was still here with us.“Hello, young man,” my father said, his voice level and measuring.Florian stepped forward immediately to meet him, though the nervous beads of sweat breaking out on his forehead gave him away.“Good day Sir, my name is Florian Hollis”he said.“I don't know why but you look familiar, I just can't place a finger on where I've seen this face before”my father said, stroking his chin.He lay in bed, his skin strikingly pale. A call bell rested within arm's reach on the nightstand, ensuring he wouldn't have to stand up whenever he needed assistance.“I'm sure
