Chapter Forty Three

Me, Lio, Baltasar, Naremi, and Githinji sat outside on the porch. The sun was starting to set now and the air was cool, almost cold.

“Who would do something like this? Thank goodness she wasn’t home.” Naremi said shaking her head.

“We have a lot of enemies. For example, how about the whole world?” Baltasar said.

“You don’t know if everyone feels that way.”

I said looking at him.

Lio touched my leg and gave me a faint smile before looking back to the others.

“Listen to me, the world is changing quickly. The whole world knows we exist now and yes, some people would be happier locking us up forever. However, those people don’t know Astraia or the fact that she’s close to us. There are only a few groups of people who would do this to her and for only one reason.”

Lio paused for a moment, he seemed to be thinking.

“The Leopards, The Bears, and of course that officer could be the only suspects. The first two are obvious but I don’t think Officer Rollards would risk
