"Enjoy your stay, Miss Oakmont."
Celestine groaned after someone forcefully pushed her inside of a dark room making her sat on the cold floor. Tears welled in her eyes when she heard how the man locked the door, not leaving a space for light to shine through the room.
She hugged herself as her shoulders quivered. She can't see anything, she feels like she has gone blind. She can't even hear the slightest noise outside. It's as if the darkroom tarnished her ability to think and feel.
Celestine clenched the hem of her shirt when the wind whistled giving her goosebumps. She closed her eyes and had accepted that this might be the last day of her life.
"I love you, Dad," she whispered to herself.
Vincent massages his temple with his eyes closed. There's so much on his plate right now but on top of all that was Fernando.
He heard a knock on his door. "It's open."
Niccolo entered his office. "Boss, Miss Oakmont is now inside of the cell."
"Is she being noisy?"
"Unexpectedly not, Boss."
Vincent falls back to his swivel chair. "L'audace de cette salope à m'énerver." The audacity of that bitch to piss me off.
"I asked Alejandro and Gustav to guard her and according to them since they locked her inside she remained silent."
"Starve her to death."
"B-Boss?"
Vincent punched his office table. "I said starve her to death until she speaks. Call the five idiots and tell them to make that bitch speak about her father. I want to know where Fernando is before midnight. If they can't make her speak, I'll kill them. Understand?"
"Yes, Boss."
"Good. Now leave."
Niccolo bowed his head then walked towards the door and leave.
Fernando's daughter is hitting a nerve and he's not happy with it.
He dialed Leandro's number—one of his associates.
"Yes, Boss?"
Vincent removed his coat and tie. "I want to blow off steam."
"Copy that Boss."
He walked outside of his office with a devilish smile on his lips.
"Bro, that Celestine is feisty," Sebastian said as he dropped himself on the couch.
Carter chuckled. "Let's see until when."
"She'll die soon," Niccolo who just entered the kitchen interrupted.
"How can you so?" Carter asked while cracking eggs on the pan.
"Boss asked me to starve her to death."
"She's still lucky. Boss is not punishing her enough," Sebastian said as he sat properly on the couch.
"He can't starve her to death," Vladimir who just walked inside of the kitchen joined the conversation.
"What are you? A fucking mushroom?" Carter teased Vladimir.
"Mushroom?" Vladimir asked then he walked to Carter's side to see what he's cooking.
"You're just popping up anywhere dude."
"Why you said that Boss can't starve that woman to death?" Sebastian asked.
"Boss needs her as bait to lure her father out. He'll keep her alive."
"Well, you tell that to him because I think he's forgetting about that. You're a consigliere after all," Niccolo said as he took a cigarette out of his pocket.
"Where is him anyway?" Vladimir asked as he pulled the chair next to Carter.
"I don't have an idea but I saw him leave the mansion a while ago," Niccolo answered.
"What color of car did he used?"
"His red car."
Vladimir stood up. "Oh fuck."
"What's the matter, dude?" Carter asked.
"He'll blow off steam and it means: he'll kill anyone he pleases to kill."
"Oh fuck!" All of them except for Vladimir blurted.
They all knew that if Vincent's father found out about his son's impulsiveness all of them will be dead.
Celestine's stomach grumbled. She swallowed when she felt something squeezed her stomach painfully.
She has no idea what time it is already but she knew that she's been sitting inside of a stinky room for hours and she's famished.
Celestine knew Vincent but it was her first time to see him face to face. Vincent is a popular businessman. He's a billionaire and almost all of her model friends talk about him. She can't deny the fact that he's handsome but he's cruel.
She won't like such a man.
"Did the five idiots made her speak?" Vincent asked.
"You can't even make her speak and you expect her to say something to your associates?"
Vincent took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and get a stick from it. "They're useless."
"I suggest you should have a little patience with her," Vladimir said with evident respect in his tone of voice.
"I'm a fucking mafia boss. No one can disrespect me as she did," Vincent said while puffing a cigarette.
"Yes she did, but you need her," Vladimir said while stitching Vincent's open wounds carefully.
Vincent went home late at night with wounds and bruises all over his body. Vladimir found out that his boss get into a fight with ten men which Leandro ready for him. He wanted to curse Leandro and beat him to death but Vladimir knew that Leandro is just an associate who needs to follow Vincent's order.
"Come to think of it, I have money. A lot of them. I can ask anyone to find Fernando I don't need her."
"You do. Sure you do. But you need to find Fernando as soon as possible before Mr. Stevenson suspects. And that woman can give you her father in a matter of seconds if she will only speak."
"She's trying to act brave, she won't say a thing." Vincent put his cigarette to the ashtray.
"She will if you'll just be a little persuasive."
Vincent closed his eyes. "It's her father's fault why she's suffering. It's not because of me. If she doesn't want to say a thing I don't fucking care."
When Vincent's wounds are stitched Vladimir tapped his shoulder. "Start with giving her food. I'm sure she's famished. No one gave her food the whole day and it's already night."
After that, Vladimir left him thinking deeply.
A strong kicked on the metallic door disturbed Celestine's sleep. It made an ear-splitting sound the reason why Celestine covered her ears using his hands.
She blinked slowly as the light shone in her eyes. It was an eyesore for someone who has been deprived of light the whole day but at the same time a sign of hope.
Someone walked inside of her cell. She can't see the man properly but she can smell his scent—it's outrageously expensive and intoxicating.
He put something on and the floor and nudged it towards Celestine.
"Eat."
In a short period, she had familiarized the sound of his voice and it never fails to give her goosebumps. His voice is cold, yet sounds intimidating.
"I don't want to. I'm not hungry," Celestine forcefully said. Her stomach is grumbling but there's no way she'll eat what the mafia boss gave her.
"There's no poison in there." Vincent light up his cigarette then he blew smoke at Celestine.
"You don't have manners aren't you?"
"Last time I checked, I do have. It just happened that I don't show it to useless people like you."
Celestine clenched her hands to fists. "You're more useless than I am."
Vincent put his left hand on his pocket while puffing his cigarette. "Maybe yes or maybe not."
She took a deep breath. "You're wasting your time on me. I don't know where is my father."
"Even though you do or not, I honestly don't care," Vincent said nonchalantly.
"What do you mean?"
Vincent touched her face. "You'll end up dead anyway."
His minty breath sends shivers down her spine.
"You're heartless," Celestine said with great amount of certainty in her voice.
"Darling, I am more than that."
Celestine kicked the plate near her. "I won't eat it."
Vincent grabbed her jaw and forced her to look at him. "You're gonna pay for this."
As soon as Vincent let go of her face she felt the heaviness of it. She hugged her legs and sobbed on her knees. She was startled when he slammed the door closed, leaving her inside of the darkroom again with nothing but the coldness of the floor and her heavy breathing.
Vincent furiously went inside of his office and hastily dialed Alice's number—one of his associates that he assigned to find Fernando.
"Yes, Boss?"
"Any update in Fernando?"
"Boss, as of the moment, there is no sign of—"
He ended the call and slammed his phone against his office table that made his palm bleed.
"You like this hide and seek game huh? I'll make your daughter suffer and we'll see what will happen next," he whispered to himself after he punched Fernando's picture lying on his table.
"Ouch." Celestine felt a pinching itch to different parts of her body and it's driving her crazy. She's been slapping her body for God knows how many hours and until now she's still doing it. Every bite of mosquitoes is giving her goosebumps and it's making her feel uncomfortable. "I don't want here anymore," she said to herself as she threw her head back to stop her tears from rolling down her cheeks but no matter how much she tried to stop herself from crying, her mouth quivered and she started sobbing. "Daddy..." It is gut-wrenching. She never did imagine that one day she'll be caged inside of a darkroom like she's on a death row waiting for her turn. She's a model, she is supposed to be living her best life right now but she's here—staring blankly at the darkroom with nothing but her clothes on and her desperation to come out of here. She misses her father. She hopes that whenever he is right now, he's fine. Celestine no longer fee
When Celestine felt the touch of cold water on her face she felt relieved. Being kept inside of a dark, dirty cell felt like she's been inside of it for years and she had forgotten the feeling of cold water. She looked in the mirror and could barely recognize herself—her cheeks and lips that used to be pinkish were now pale and dry. Her eyes that used to be the most beautiful part of herself are now looked gloomy and tired. Her gaze went to her bruised wrists and caressed them. She felt the urge to cry when she also noticed the red dots all over her body due to the mosquitoes that did nothing but bite her every night. She looked at herself in front of the mirror. "No." She shook her head. "I know you can. You have to be brave. I know you can," she whispered to herself. She was startled when someone kicked the comfort room door. "Make it fast, woman!" Celestine wiped her wet face using the hem of her shirt that she has been wear
While sitting inside the van, Celestine felt the pain in her handcuffed wrists. She did not bother struggling to get out her hand from the handcuff because it would only bruise her wrists even more. She was unable to move because Alice forcefully tied her ankles using a cable tie a while ago. Celestine thought that Alice would blindfold her but she was thankful because the woman didn't do it. "What did Boss say?" Alice asked the man in the front seat as she lights up her cigarette. "All of us will meet at the hotel," the man replied to Alice. Alice looked at Celestine. She knew her because almost every famous magazine had Celestine's face as a magazine cover. But as she stared at Celestine she could no longer recognize her. She was far from the beautiful Celestine that Alice knew. ‘Vincent seems to be doing a great job to make this woman suffer.’ Alice said in her mind. Alice blew smoke on Celestine's face to annoy her. And it
Celestine slowly opened her eyes. It was strange for her to feel softness against her back after waking up that is far from the hard and cold floor of the cell that became her bed for a couple of days. She stretched her body and buried her face on the soft pillow. She missed the feeling of comfortableness that was taken away from her since Vincent took her with him. She wrapped the soft blanket around her aching body and closed her eyes again. She wants to give time to what she's feeling right now because anytime it will be taken away from her. As she closed her eyes her mind wandered and thought of Vincent. She can't deny that she got affected by the way he acted earlier. She can't get her mind off the way he caressed her aching wrists. He does that with an evident fastidiousness and she can't seem to forget the way it felt. "No, this is not right, Celestine. You shouldn't feel that towards him. He's a murderer or worse a drug addict!" she scolded he
"Celestine! Open the goddamn door! Celestine!"A loud shout and a series of knocks woke up Celestine who was sound asleep in the bathtub. What brought her back to her trance was the familiar voice shouting outside the bathroom. She immediately sat up and hugged herself. She wanted to curse herself when she couldn't find a towel that she could cover to her body to open the door for Vincent."You'll open this or I will open this fucking door for yourself?!""N-No! Uhm, just wait for me outside! I'm taking a bath!" Celestine shouted as she couldn't figure out what she should do. She swallowed hard when she heard nothing from Vincent after that. Celestine didn't know what Vincent was doing and he went suddenly silent but she's praying that he wouldn't have thought of barging inside of the bathroom because the last thing she wanted to happen right now is for Vincent to see her naked body.Celestine's eyes widened when the bathroom door suddenly opened and in h
When Celestine finally sat in the passenger seat, she inhaled Vincent's familiar scent inside. It was evidence that Vincent was indeed the owner of the car because his perfume engulfed every corner of it. Celestine did not try to speak because she knew that she would only look like a fool if she talk to Vincent. After all, the man would not talk to her. Instead of attempting to talk to Vincent she just stared at the glimmering light on the road. The cars didn't move fast so she felt more uncomfortable being with Vincent in the same place as the two of them we're not talking but she couldn't do anything, she has no right to complain because her freedom is in Vincent's hands and it is in his decision when to let her go. But she doubt if he would do that. "Don't embarrass me later," Vincent said that broke the silence that enveloped them earlier. "What do you mean?" she confusedly asked but he didn't answer her and became silent
For almost an hour Celestine did nothing but cry. Her eyesight was dimming and she was having a hard time opening it because it's swollen. She wants to hurt herself for being stupid because she must admit that she expected Vincent to treat her better now. After all, he saved her from Alice but she was wrong. She was a fool to believe that evil can change, she learned her lessons and it will never happen again. She had to remind herself that Vincent was her enemy, as well as his men and not her ally.Vladimir looked in the rearview mirror of the car so he could see Celestine in the backseat. The woman's eyes are red and so was her nose. She's peering outside the car window and still a bit shocked at what happened because she doesn't seem to be in her senses. He starts the car engine."Where will we go?" Celestine asked weakly but Vladimir acted like he doesn't hear a thing and did not answer her question.Vincent stopped smoking wh
"Examine the place and see if there's a bomb hiding somewhere. Check everything, every corner, and also, be mindful of small cameras or recording devices that Stevenson possibly planted in the mansion. After making sure that everything's fine, secure, and the mansion is safe to stay in, start the renovation with my permission. I'll visit the mansion soon. I don't want to waste my money so do the work properly." "Copy that, Boss." Vincent frustratedly brushed his hair up using his fingertips. He had encountered tons of problems ever since Fernando happened. Problems after problems. It's pissing him off. He doesn't care about Stevenson anymore. The old man is probably dead by now because of the explosion but if ever he survived that, Vincent is prepared for war. His cellphone rang, he immediately pressed the answer button when he read that it was Leandro calling. "Any news?" he asked. "Boss we've checked everything and
