Chapter Five

The fact that he was too daring made her more angry. He wasn't scared of her at all. She checked out his dressing and frowned.

"You're not dressed officially for work. You're now working for a very respectful and prestigious figure, you should know better than dress like this."

Jasper narrowed his eyes, this woman was making him mad seriously. She didn't inform him beforehand and now she's complaining about his dressing? She just loves to nag for no reason doesn't she?

"You don't expect me to dress like a clown everytime because of you. I was having dinner when you called me. Besides it's evening, why are you complaining?" He replied.

"That's not for you to decide. I will not accept any useless behavior from you starting tonight."

"And I won't work with someone as arrogant as you. You're too proud, you can have your job back. Get someone else to control." He fired at her.

Raina was taken aback, she stared at him in shock.

"You! How dare you talk to me that way?!" She fired back.

"You have some issues to take care of with yourself. When you've realized what you did wrong, you can call me back. If not, cancel the contract. I am no longer interested." Jasper said and walked away.

Raina growled in anger. Never has she seen someone who would dare talk to her the way Jasper did. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. She wants to make him pay badly. She got into the car and hit the steering wheel, then she drove herself home.

"You're back." Her sister Freida asked as she stepped into the living room.

"As you can see." Raina grumpily replied.

"Hmm.. you seem to be in a bad mood tonight. I wonder which of your workers made you this mad." Freida said.

Raina ignored her and went upstairs. She got changed, then went to the dining room for dinner. Luckily, her family were just about to have dinner when she came. She guessed they must have waited for her to arrive before eating.

"You're back early tonight." Her mother Madam Diane Williams said as she sat down.

"Evening mom and dad." Was her reply.

"You looked stressed out. Why don't you take the day off tomorrow?" Her father Sir Edwardo Williams asked.

Raina shook her head, "Won't work father. I have a lot of projects I'm working on now. Perharps after that."

Freida rolled her eyes, "You've said that like ninety thousand times."

"I don't think I have any explanation to give to you."

"Yeah, you don't. I'm not the one with anxiety after all."

That made Raina stop eating. She simply got up, "Good night mom and dad."

She walked out of the dining room. Madam Diane glared at Freida. Freida laughed nervously, she felt a bit guilty. She had made her brother leave the dining table angrily after having an argument with him. Now she made Raina who has been working so hard all day leave by reminding her of her problem.

Freida is the troublesome sibling but she loves her siblings a lot and wouldn't hurt them on purpose. Her words are simply jokes which are misunderstood most times.

"I'll go to my room now." Freida said and rushed out of the dining table.

She always finds a way to escape after she has done something wrong.

Raina laid on her bed contemplating on what to do with Jasper. She would have let go of it were someone else, but she couldn't seem to get him out of her head. What her sister said wasn't really the main reason why she's angry.

He promised to only return when she apologized to him. That's the hardest thing for her to do, she has never had to apologise to anyone since she got back.

"How arrogant." She said to no one in particular.

She thought of getting someone else from a real agency with a lower price, but thought of the possibilities. Jasper looked well built and very smart, he saved her from a fast moving truck. He saved her from those men last night, he would be of a great help to her.

She decided to pass a call to him even though she doesn't want to. It hurt her pride so much that she has to apologise to him.

•••••

Jasper got back home and met his mother waiting for him. She was staring daggers at him making him wonder what he did wrong this time. He had texted her to let her know he'd be having dinner out with Bella. It seems she didn't get the text.

"I'm sorry mom. I texted you, I didn't know you never got it." He quickly apologized.

Miranda frowned, "Of course I got your text!"

"Really? Then what did I do wrong? You're killing me with your look mom." He asked sitting beside her.

"Hiding your new found job from your family and telling someone else instead. I don't even know if we're your family anymore." Stephanie said from behind.

His heart raced as he thought of the betrayal. Bella promised not to talk about this to anyone, especially his family. But she broke her promise probably because she was mad at him?

"You thought we would never find out." Stephanie scoffed.

"How did you know? I only told Bella." He asked nervously.

"Bella told me everything. She said you got a new job to work as a close assistant to the CEO of Rainhigh corporation and you never told us."

Huh? That's what Bella told them? He sighed in relief, Bella did keep his secret. She only told his family about his job.

"I thought she went home already, why did she come here?"

"She decided to tell us after you left her to be with your new boss. Seriously brother, why did you choose to work for that rude woman everyone talks about?"

Jasper palmed his face, "She is not as rude as everyone thinks. In fact, we get along very well."

He remembered that he quitted working with her. He always plays his cards right, he felt like she would call him back. Though he didn't give himself very high hopes.

"Get along? You should dump her ass while you still can. She will make your life a living hell, you don't want to get into trouble again do you?"

"Steph that's enough. It's your brother's decision to work with her and I will respect it. As long as he is careful and doesn't get himself too involved with her, there is nothing to worry about." Miranda stopped her.

"But mom, they don't know about his background yet. What if someone frames him after finding out his background, what will we do then?"

Jasper glared at Stephanie.

"You should mind your business Steph. That's my problem so let me deal with it."

"You..."

"That's enough Stephanie. We should be happy for your brother and pray this job lasts for him. We should celebrate this." Miranda suggested.

Stephanie rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen. She is happy that her brother got a job, but not happy because of where he is. That company is very investigative and it might be hard for him to last there. What's more, he could actually get into trouble since a lot of people would envy his position.

Not to talk of that rude woman who will treat her brother like trash. All that made her angry, yet she decided to be happy for him and just give up.

After celebrating with a few drinks, everyone else retired to their rooms leaving Jasper alone in the living room. He checked the time on his phone, there was also no visible missed calls on his phone indicating that she won't call him back.

Just as he decided to go to bed, her call came through. He smiled knowingly, then picked up her call.

"Who's this?" He asked knowing that it was her.

Raina felt annoyed but kept her cool.

"This is Raina Williams, your boss."

He scoffed, "I don't remember saying I wanted to keep working for you."

"You!.." She flared up but stopped herself.

"Well you signed a contract with me. It's not yet cancelled."

Jasper chuckled, "Are you saying I need to come up your office and tear the papers for you to understand that I don't want to work with your arrogance."

"You can't terminate the contract yet."

"I'd like to see you force me to stay." He argued further with her.

Seeing that nothing she does or say will make him change his stubborn decision. She took a few deep breaths already planning her revenge because of this embarrassment.

"I won't be too harsh on you anymore. I promise to behave if you come back to work." She said.

Jaspers lips twitched in a smile, he was expecting an apology but this was much better.

"How am I supposed to believe what you say? You are arrogant by nature, I don't think you can change."

Raina gritted her teeth, "I will do my best to keep my promise. You also have to give me the respect as your boss."

He thought about it for a while, "Since you're begging, I will accept your apology hoping you are sincere."

What begging? She would never do that?!

"I didn't beg... Never mind. I want you to meet me at work tomorrow. And please dress officially this time around." She hung up quickly feeling embarrassed.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with Raina Williams. I will bring down your rude character, just watch." He thought to himself.

Stephanie was listening to him at a corner, she felt it was strange that his boss called him to apologise. Yet he says they get along well, and she already fired him?

She quickly rushed away and promised to investigate her brother. She wants to know the true nature of his job.

~Williams Villa~

Raina on the other hand is fuming from anger. She always had the world below her feet, now she has to beg a commoner to come work for her. The door to her room suddenly opened revealing her sister Freida.

Raina sighed in frustration, Freida was another frustrating creature aside from Carly.

Speaking of Carly, she hasn't bothered her all day because of her job. Carly has a photoshoot in the next city and won't be arriving until two days. At least she would have some peace and less nagging.

"What are you doing here now Freida? Isn't it late already?" She frowned.

Freida had a worried expression, one would think that she is being sincere. Except she is sincere in this situation.

"I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I couldn't sleep so I came to apologise." Freida said sincerely.

"Apology accepted. Can you leave me alone now?" Raina rudely replied.

Freida shrugged, "I came to apologise sincerely but you're sending me away. How can I leave without your forgiveness? This is not fair."

Freida made a crying face, Raina had to give in.

"Fine. I forgive you. I'm not mad at you. But I have to leave early tomorrow so I want to have some sleep." Raina explained.

Freida grinned, her plan worked. Instead of leaving, she sat on the bed.

"So tell me, who were you apologizing to on the phone?"

Raina's eyes widened. How long has Freida being spying on her to know about the phonecall. Freida really is one annoying person.

"That's none of your business. I don't have to explain anything to you. I keep telling you that." Raina sneered.

"I'm your sister and I know you do well. You won't even apologize for doing something wrong, now you're begging someone to come back and work for you? He must be very special."

"Who told you I apologized and what makes you think it's a he? Seriously Freida get out of my room before I lose it." She said coldly.

Freida raised her hands in surrender.

"Fine. Don't admit but I can't wait to meet him. He's very special."

"Get out!!!" She roared.

Freida rushed out laughing, Raina shook her head. As if the stress at work is not enough, she has someone like Freida as a sister.
