~ Celine POV ~

The plane door opened, and the cold mountain wind hit my face.

"Stay close," Rowan said, stepping onto the runway ahead of me. "The perimeter guards are already watching."

"Let them watch," I replied, walking down the steps. "They work for me now."

Two dark vehicles were parked by the hangar. My legal team followed behind us, carrying the financial documents.

"Everything is set up," Rowan said, opening the door to the first vehicle. "The driver is one of ours."

"Good," I answered

~ Damien POV ~I shoved past the entrance guards and pushed through the meeting room doors. Victoria stood near the head of the table, her voice ringing across the room. Twelve senior council members sat along both sides, their folders open."We have no other choice," Victoria declared, gesturing toward the maps spread before them. "Bloodcrest holds our border notes. If we sell the southern timber tracts to the offshore buyers, we can clear the principal before the end of the week.""Sit down, mother," I called out, walking down the aisle. Victoria turned, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me. "Damien. You were supposed to be in Aetheria until tomorrow evening.""The meeting in the city ended early," I said, stopping at the foot of the table. "And you have no authority to sell pack land.""Someone froze our treasury accounts," Victoria replied, her voice rising with anger. "The banks shut off our credit lines overnight. If I hadn't stepped in to call this council, Marcus Cross wou

"We have twenty minutes before the meeting starts at the main hall."My phone beeped with an incoming video call. I looked at the screen and tapped the button.Maya appeared, sitting at the breakfast table in Julian's estate with a glass of juice."Mommy," Maya said, her silver eyes bright against the screen. "You didn't wake me up before you left.""I had an early flight, sweetheart," I replied, feeling a genuine sm

~ Damien POV ~The hotel suite was quiet when I shut the door behind me. I tossed my coat onto the armchair and walked over to the desk. "Did you bring the papers?" I asked.Lucas looked up from the table, adjusting the folder in front of him. "I brought everything. I've been reading through them since you left the ballroom.""Find me a way out, Lucas," I said, pulling out a chair and sitting down. "There has to be something. An oversight. A technical error. Anything that lets us challenge her claim."Lucas shook his head. "There isn't one, Damien. I had two of our solicitors review the text while you were downstairs. It's solid. Brooks Global bought the notes from the banks after the council defaulted. She holds fifty-one percent of the revenue streams.""What about the shipping docks?" I asked."Included," Lucas answered. "The eastern ports, the storage warehouses, the main timber contracts, and the residential land leases. She owns the underlying debt for all of it. If we default

~ Celine POV ~Damien stayed frozen, his face inches from mine, his hands gripping the railing on either side of me. "Go ahead," I told him, keeping my eyes locked on his. "You came out here to prove something. Either kiss me or step back."His breathing was rough, his focus dropping to my lips before rising back to my eyes. He didn't move. The uncertainty in his gaze told me everything. He wanted to claim what he believed belonged to him, but the fear of losing his pack kept him still. "You think this is a game," Damien whispered."I don't play games with debt," I said. "And I don't give second chances to people who threw me away."A quiet step clicked against the floor behind him."Your time is up, Alpha."Rowan moved into the pale light of the terrace. His jacket hung unbuttoned, his hand resting calmly near the handle of the weapon concealed under his belt. He didn't shout. He simply stood between Damien and the ballroom curtains, his dark eyes fixed on the man trapping me.Dami

~ Damien POV ~Julian turned his head slowly, his hand remaining on Celine’s waist for a second before he let his arm fall. A slight smile touched his lips, deliberate and calm, as if he had been expecting me all evening."Alpha Damien," Julian said. "You're taking your security duties quite personally tonight.""The dance floor is clear," I said, my focus locked on Celine. "Step back, Julian."Julian looked down at Celine, his tone light. "Do you mind, Celine? I would hate to cause a scene in front of the trade council.""It's fine," Celine said. Her voice was steady, without a hint of hesitation. "Go check on the contract details with Miller. I'll handle this."Julian gave her a brief nod, stepped back, and melted into the surrounding crowd.I didn't wait. I stepped into his place, my hand closing around Celine’s waist and pulling her firmly against me. The moment my fingers pressed into the fabric of her dress, a jolt of heat shot straight through my palm, spreading up my arm and c

~ Celine POV ~ The camera lights flashed across the red carpet as Julian offered me his arm. "Hold onto me," Julian whispered, keeping his face turned toward the reporters. "Every executive from here to the coast is watching us." "Let them watch," I said, stepping through the doorway. "We gave them plenty to talk about when we bought the debt." "Damien is standing near the security post," Julian murmured, his fingers resting against my side as we walked toward the ballroom floor. "He looks like he wants to break my neck." I looked toward the marble pillars near the entrance. Damien stood among the security detail and junior managers. His uniform jacket sat square on his shoulders, his hands tucked into his pockets. Our eyes met for a second across the floor. A sudden heat rushed through my chest, but I turned my head away before my expression changed. "Don't give him the satisfaction," I said. "I have no intention of giving him anything," Julian replied with a light laugh. He g
