Chapter 2

After work, I headed back to the dorms with the other wolf guards.

The shared living room was noisy.

Some people were polishing their new weapons.

Others were dividing up spirit medicine.

A few were showing off their bonus rewards.

As they talked, their eyes suddenly shifted toward me.

“Hah. Intern wolf guards really are different. We get bonuses, she gets a collar.”

“Maybe the Alpha thinks she’s too weak and needs a leash to keep her under control.”

The laughter grew louder.

I didn’t say anything.

I couldn’t help lowering my head for another look.

…It was actually pretty nice.

There was just a little dust on it.

I took it off.

Holding the wolf fang between my fingers, I lightly scraped at it with my nail.

Then I lowered my head and gently blew on it.

“That should clean it, right…?”

The floating comments instantly exploded across my vision.

【How does she STILL not know what blowing on a wolf fang means!?】

【Little wolf, stop! The Alpha is literally in negotiations right now!】

【Couldn’t you wait until tonight to do him!?】

Meanwhile, in the North’s highest council chamber.

Several Alpha leaders sat around a massive circular table in the middle of a territorial negotiation.

Rhys Ashbourne sat at the head of the table.

The Alpha of the Black Wolf Pack spoke in a low voice.

“The hunting grounds on the eastern side of the North have always been closer to our territory.”

“We only want thirty percent. That’s not unreasonable.”

At the head seat, Rhys lazily spun a pen between his fingers.

“Thirty percent?” He lifted his eyes.

“Are you testing whether the North still has an Alpha?”

Several Alphas visibly stiffened.

The Black Wolf Alpha gritted his teeth.

“Rhys, you...”

Before he could finish speaking, Rhys’s hand suddenly stopped moving.

Crack.

The pen snapped apart inside his palm.

The entire chamber went dead silent.

Several Alphas immediately looked up.

“…Alpha Rhys?”

The man at the head of the table slowly tightened his fingers.

The Black Wolf Alpha stared at the broken pen and swallowed hard.

“…Actually, ten percent could still be negotiated.”

The other Alphas immediately fell silent as well.

Rhys seemed like he hadn’t even heard him.

The bones in his hand had gone rigid white.

One of the elders looked to Rhys for a decision.

Rhys’s voice turned cold and low.

“Move on.”

He suddenly stood up.

The chair scraped violently against the floor.

Across the table, the Black Wolf Alpha’s pupils shrank.

His hand instinctively flew to protect his throat.

But Rhys did not even spare him a glance.

He walked straight out of the council chamber.

Leaving the entire table of Alphas staring at each other in shock.

Shared dorm living room.

I looked at the wolf fang in my hand, just about to put it back on.

Suddenly, a hand reached from behind and snatched the collar away.

I turned around.

It was wolf guard captain Rowan Black.

“Give it back...”

But she had already lowered her head to examine it.

Her fingertips slowly rubbed over the wolf fang.

“So it’s just prettier than a normal collar.”

“I seriously don’t get why the Alpha would give you this.”

Without even thinking, I reached out to grab it back.

The floating comments instantly flooded.

【If Rhys sees someone else touching his wolf fang, he’s going to lose his mind.】

【Little wolf, hurry up and take it back before Rhys completely breaks over this.】

Rowan Black let out a cold laugh.

“What? Can’t bear to part with it?”

“You’re just an intern wolf guard. Do you really think you’re someone special?”

The other wolf guards in the room had all gone silent.

I pressed my lips together.

“That’s mine.”

She deliberately lifted the collar higher.

“Yours? Then take it back if you can.”

“If you can’t, I’ll smash it.”

The moment the words left her mouth,

Bang.

The dormitory doors were violently kicked open.
