CHAPTER 13: Shadows in the King’s Chambers

Boyce’s POV

I drove into Sara harder, my hands locked on her hips as she moaned under me on the narrow bed in my quarters. The room was hot and thick with the smell of sweat and sex. Her nails scraped down my back. She wrapped her legs tight around my waist and pulled me in deeper, her breath coming in short gasps against my neck.

“Yes, Boyce… keep going,” she whispered, voice low and needy. “Don’t stop.”

My body should have been right there with her.

CHAPTER 106: The Trial of VoicesIlyana’s POVI woke up tasting dirt and blood, with a sharp throb pulsing behind my eyes. My fingers scraped against broken stone as I pushed myself up, coughing on the dust settling over the ruins of the Hollow Chapel. My wolf stayed quiet. The mate bond remained dark and empty in my chest.Gareth had not kidnapped me during the ambush. He had simply knocked me out, triggered the explosives and left me for dead beneath the collapsing roof.I scrambled over the smashed wooden pews and kicked a shattered beam out of my path.“Atlas!” I yelled, my voice cracking in the dry air. “Where are you?”“Over here,” Declan answered, his tone lacking its usual arrogance.I climbed a pile of debris and found the northern king kneeling beside the cracked altar. Atlas lay trapped beneath a massive slab of stone, the rock pinning his legs to the ground.I dropped to my knees and shoved my hands into the gravel. Declan mirrored my movements. We dug him out with our bar

CHAPTER 105: Moonrise at the Hollow ChapelAtlas’s POV“Corwin forged the handwriting,” I told the commanders gathered around the war room map table.I pointed at the physical copy of the note resting near the northern border lines. The parchment looked incredibly authentic, a testament to my beta’s meticulous attention to detail.“He copied the exact penmanship from my father’s journals in the secret room and used the royal stationery my mother keeps in her private desk,” I explained, studying the map. “Gareth Draven thinks a ghost summoned him to the neutral zone. We are going to use that arrogance to end this war.”Ilyana stepped up to the table and slipped a recording crystal from Councilor Thorne’s private collection into her jacket pocket. She checked its smooth surface to ensure the magical matrix was active.“Ashmoor’s units and Seraphina’s wolves are holding a perimeter outside the chapel ward,” Ilyana noted, looking up at the gathered officers. “Once Gareth confesses his cri

CHAPTER 104: The Patient ManGareth’s POV“Leave the tray on the desk,” I told the young servant standing in the doorway of my private study. “Close the door behind you.”“Yes, Councilman,” the boy replied, bowing quickly before retreating into the hallway.I poured hot water from the silver kettle into my porcelain cup, watching the fragrant steam drift over the rims of my reading glasses. Picking up Lila’s printed casualty report, I scanned the numbers. My heart rate remained perfectly steady.Fear is a useless luxury for a man playing a game of centuries. I refused to let a minor setback ruin my evening tea.I had lost the Hollow Chapel rite tonight for one simple reason. Declan succumbed to a tragic bout of sentimentality at the altar. The boy chose his brother over the crown. I held Jasmine’s magical lock responsible for the rest of the failure, but the core issue had always been the Frostvale bloodline. They were soft. For forty years, I had methodically dismantled this kingdom’

CHAPTER 103: The Left HandIlyana's POVI dropped to my knees beside the dead archivist, letting out a long breath as the metallic smell of blood pooling on the floorboards filled my nostrils. Atlas stood right behind me, his jaw locked tight. Corwin hovered near the door, waiting for an execution order. Queen Victoria remained pressed against the far wall, staring at the white access card clutched in the dead man’s hand as if it were a live grenade.I leaned forward to study the corpse. Black veins traced a violent path up his neck, mapping the exact route the synthetic venom had taken to shut down his nervous system.“Everyone needs to use their brains for a second,” I said, gesturing toward the archivist’s right hand resting near the keyboard. “Look at his index finger.”Atlas stepped closer, following my gaze. A fresh smear of blue pen ink coated the man’s right index finger and thumb, matching the handwritten edits on the audio transcripts scattered across his desk.“He was righ

CHAPTER 102: The Stitched KingSara's POVI sat in the wooden chair at the base of the dais, wrapping my arms tightly around my stomach. Thick bandages bound my crushed legs, while the quiet absence of my wolf left a constant, dull ache in my chest.Kolt held the burner phone high above his head. The deep, authoritative voice repeated its command for Boyce to kill the Queen.Kolt drew a tactical blade from his belt and took a slow step toward me, clearly intending to eliminate the loose ends. Boyce's knuckles turned white around the hilt of his dagger, the sharp metal pressing against Queen Victoria's throat.I had spent my entire girlhood memorizing King Lucien's public speeches. I studied his cadence, vocabulary and the distinct rhythm of his voice, desperate to mold myself into a Luna worthy of a royal court. Now, as I listened to the pause echoing from the phone speaker, something felt fundamentally wrong. The spacing was mechanical, lacking any trace of natural breath.“Boyce,” I

CHAPTER 101: The Voice and the CrownDeclan's POVPitch-black darkness swallowed us whole. The candles died without even a flicker, leaving the ruined sanctuary in complete darkness. The only illumination came from the infant. Jasmine’s tiny wrist glowed like a beacon, the crescent moon mark now rimmed in a vicious, bleeding red.I looked down at my arms and watched the black veins halt just below my collarbone. The venom burned through my chest, twisting my nerves into knots, but it refused to climb any higher toward my neck.It tickled, honestly. A minor inconvenience for superior genetics. I was built for endurance and a little poison wasn't going to break me.Ilyana dropped to her knees beside the altar. Ignoring the blood staining the stone floor, she placed her palm over the baby's glowing wrist. She whispered the guardian words she had memorized from her mother's hidden letter, her voice steady despite the chaos surrounding us.The shadows recoiled at the sound of the ancient s
