Nothing But A Traitor

I winced at the pain from Rafael holding my arm so roughly. He did not stop; he kept leading me until we were down one of the many hallways. Then he stopped and finally let go out of me. “Where have you been? You were locked in the cellar; how did you even get out?” He asked, folding his arms on his wide chest as he stared daggers at me.

I swallowed, knowing that I could not tell him the truth. Telling him what had really happened was going to be me throwing the warriors who had helped me under the bus. And that was not something that I wanted to do. That was not a way to repay them for what they had done for me.

I could have died in there. I literally could have.

“I um…”

“And don’t you lie to me, Cassie. I know you.”

I resisted the urge to scoff. Know me? Well, that was a load of bullsh*t. Because if he really had known me, he would not have forsaken me when I was being taken to prison. He would have helped me. He would have believed in me despite the charges brought against me. But he had not.

He had even helped to make sure that I was locked up.

Gosh, I hated him so much for what he had done, and I don’t think that I would ever forgive him for what he had done. Imagine being in a relationship with someone and loving them so much, trusting that they would be in your life forever. Only for you to be disappointed in the most hurtful way ever.

“I found a way out,” I replied, staring him in his eyes. “And when I did, I left the Pack House to be alone.” I don’t know if it was my pain or anger at him that was helping me right now, but I was no longer nervous.

He stared at me for a few seconds and then sighed. “Fine.” He unfolded his arms from his chest and walked closer to me. “Just know that I would have never done that to the Cassie that I once knew and loved. Now, you’re nothing but a traitor. Nothing but a backstabber.” He frowned as he looked at me with disgust.

“You will never understand,” I managed to say under my breath, but I knew that he heard me.

“And I don’t want to, Cass. There is nothing to understand. What you did was evil… unforgivable.”

I sighed, nodding as I remembered the promise that I had made to Leon about keeping it all a secret.

After a few beats, he did not say anything else; he just peeled his eyes off me and walked past me. He hit me a bit but did not stop. I watched him leave, and soon he disappeared. I released a breath that I did not even know that I was holding.

I don’t know how long I stood in that spot just thinking about how much my life had changed, but I finally decided that I needed to take a shower and be ready. Honestly, I was grateful for the Alpha King.

It was because he wanted a mate; that was why Leon had grabbed me from prison. If that was not the case, I have a strong feeling that my brother would have never come back for me. He would have just let me rot in there for the rest of my life.

I knew that I did not have a chance. I knew that the Alpha King would not pick someone like me to be his mate. Not after prison had made me look so rough. Not after those three years had stripped away the light from my eyes and who I was.

And I also knew that even if the Alpha King were to look my way for a second, Leon and everyone else would make sure to let him know that I was nothing but a traitor.

I sniffled and touched my arm gently, and it burned. I glanced at it, and it was where Rafael had grabbed me. It was already bruising. But at this point, I was already used to the scars, bruises, and pain.

I made my way to the guest room and showered. Then I changed into some of Sage’s clothes that had been donated to me. I was still a bit hungry because I had not finished my breakfast from this morning, but I was used to being hungry, so I was not going to complain.

Nate’s POV

I was sitting outside with a glass of whiskey in my hand, waiting for my beta. Night was beginning to fall, and I started to miss my mansion from back home. But I was here on a mission, and I was not going to leave until I had accomplished it.

“Sir,” The voice pulled me from my thoughts, and I looked to see that it was Zane. “I tried to get Cassie to talk, but she does not trust us,” He explained as he made his way over to me. Now standing not far, he stopped. “But I did some digging myself. And you have no idea what I found out.”

He had my full attention now. He took a sip of my drink and nodded. “What are you waiting for? Tell me.”

“Of course,” Zane replied. “So um…I don’t think you would like to hear this, but I think the girl who you think is your mate is not who you think she is. She’s a traitor. Three years ago, she betrayed her pack by releasing sensitive information about a battle to rogue werewolves, and so many lives were lost.”

This surely captured my full attention now. I adjusted myself in the chair and said under my breath, “What the f*ck?”

“Exactly, sir. Everyone hates her. She was sent to prison for three years, and the only reason she’s out now is because of you. It’s because of your search for a mate.”

“F*ck,” I cursed, gripping the glass in my hand tighter. How was this girl suppoed to be my mate? Was the Moon goddess still mocking me by doing this? Why was a feeling a connection to her? Was I wrong?

Was my wolf wrong?

  • The Alpha King's Broken Mate   Late At Night

It felt like it was the end for me, and I mentally prepared myself for the pain. I closed my eyes, and I was ready. If this was how the Moon goddess wanted it to go for me, then what could I do? Then a grunt caused me to open my eyes. I saw that someone had jumped the guy who had been trying to hurt me. At first, I did not know who it was. And for some reason, I felt like I had been glued to the pavement of the sidewalk. I just lay there, watching in horror. The mysterious guy who had a hoodie on as well grabbed the one who wanted to hurt me and lifted him in the air easily before slamming him to the ground in anger. It did not stop there; a few hard punches and kicks followed until the guy was now unconscious. Breathing deeply, my savior turned to me, and I saw his face. He removed his hoodie as well, and my jaw dropped. “It’s you,” I said as I stared at him. It was the same warrior guy who had saved me the first time. How had he found me? And why did he keep appearing at times w

  • The Alpha King's Broken Mate   Creeps At Night

I could not believe what I had just heard. My heart felt like it had been stabbed by a knife. I stared at Leon for a few seconds, hoping that he was going to change his mind; that he was going to blame it on his anger. But he did not; he made sure that I left the Pack House. He made sure that to let the guards know that I was not allowed back until morning. So now, I was on the streets at night, when it was cold and literally anything could happen to me. I could get jumped, or worse…taken advantage of. It was not like our pack was not safe, but like everywhere, there were creeps and perverts. So I was so scared, or maybe it was just all in my head. Whether it was that or not, I was not going to take any chances. So I made my way down the street and went somewhere where there was a lot of light. It was a bus stop, and there was only an older man there, probably waiting for the bus to take him home to his family. Sitting down, I just stared into the distance. Tears burned my eyes,

  • The Alpha King's Broken Mate   The Truth Hurts

Cassie’s POVIt was now night; darkness had fallen, and as I sat on the bed, so much ran through my mind. Why was I like this? I was literally back in the Pack House, surrounded by luxury. I was no longer sleeping on those dirty sh*tty towels anymore. I was no longer being whipped almost every day for simple things. I was not in a room that smelled bad, had water damage, and had mold anymore. I was literally in a room that seemed fit for a princess. But it just did not feel like how it used to feel three years ago. I may not have been in a physical prison anymore, but I was definitely in an emotional and mental one right now. And I had no idea how I was going to escape it. I just wanted this whole Alpha King selection thing to be over with, and maybe I could take a loan from Leon and just disappear. Disappear where? I don’t know. Maybe far from the pack, but in a different one. In a small town where I could try to reinvent myself and be happy. Maybe I could meet someone and life wo

  • The Alpha King's Broken Mate   Home Was Never Home

Cassie’s POVI followed the guy out of the cabin and walked by his side until we reached a car in no time. It was a small one that looked like it had been used for years. Looking at it, I wondered if it would be able to take me back to the Pack House without breaking down, but I decided to trust it. What choice did I even have? All I knew was that I needed to get back as soon as possible. I did not want any more problems; I had way too much on my plate already, all because I had decided to take Sage’s punishment. Just thinking about it right now annoyed me, but what more could I do? I had made a deal; there was no way that I could break it. I got in the car and sat next to the guy who was now behind the steering wheel. He gestured towards the seatbelt, telling me silently to put it on. My face heated up, and I did as he asked before he placed his on as well. I was flushed because I had not been in a car for three years, so I did not even think to put my seatbelt on. As we drove,

  • The Alpha King's Broken Mate   For Your Injuries

I slowly opened my eyes, feeling like I had been heavily drugged and was just recovering. I was breathing deeply, and my vision soon cleared. I proceeded to sit up, looking around. Everything looked so…different. Where was I? My heart dropped to my stomach, and I was ready to rush out. The room that I was in was not one that I knew. I did not recognize the walls, nor the faint smell of wood that filled the space. I did not recognize the carpet on the floor. And I certainly did not recognize the ceiling fan that kept producing a sound that was giving me more anxiety than I already had. The curtains at the windows were open, letting in sunlight, but there were bars that sat there. I stood up quickly and hurried towards the door. I tried to open it, but it was locked. “Sh*t,” I said under my breath. “Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t!” I started to repeat it like a mantra. Was this another prison? Had Rafael brought me here to finish what he had started back at the Pack House? “Help!” I started to ba
