I didn’t need directions. My body moved on muscle memory, cutting through the sharp turns and quiet roads as dusk crawled across the sky. I’d only been to the house once, long enough to memorize the perfect driveway, the pristine lawn, the marble pillars that framed the entrance.

Long enough to remember the scent of the coward who lived here.

Samuel.

The name curled bitter on my tongue. My hands flexed on the wheel, the ghost of restraint tightening across my knuckles. I’d let him go once. I had walked away. But now...
