Sara couldn't remember how she ended up leaving the mating ceremony. After the sharp pain in her chest as a result of Zayne severing the bond, all she felt was her legs leading her away, away from the bonfire, away from Zayne, away from all the stares, all she knew was that she needed to get away.
Sara pushed through the crowd, desperate to leave, desperate to breath. In her half dazed state, she realized someone standing in front of her, blocking her way. She looked up and saw Savannah and her gang of friends staring down at her sneeringly.
Savannah had been one of those who was the most hostile to Sara in the pack. Her father was a high ranking member of Zayne's council so she usually got away with everything. She had been Sara's worst nightmare right from when she was 18 when her wolf had failed to manifest. She never failed to taunt and mock Sara and it seemed that was her plan now.
"Guys, look at her, she's in tears", Savannah mocked and her friends laughed.
"No way, you didn't really think our great alpha would accept you as his mate, did you?", Hannah asked her jeeringly.
Sara couldn't reply. She blinked back the tears.
"What? Did you think you would become Luna? And we would all bow to you? You? A cursed wolfless werewolf who even killed her own parents?", Savannah spat spitefully and Sara couldn't take it anymore.
She pushed Savannah out of the way and ran. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, eager to get away from it all. From dull stinging ache in her chest, from Savannah's words. As she ran the tears poured freely. Sara ran into the forest and finally stopped running when she felt her legs were about to give out. She crumbled on the floor and began to cry, she cried her heart out while questioning the moon goddess.
When she turned 18 and her wolf did not manifest as it should have, Sara had spent her days crying and begging the moon goddess to give her a wolf. As the years passed and no hope of her having a wolf presented itself Sara slowly let it go. Even when her parents had died before that in circumstances she herself couldn't remember clearly, she had also let it go. Now the one thing, the one thing she so desperately wanted, even this the moon goddess could not grant her. Maybe she really was cursed. Sara sat there and cried for a long time. After a while when she had calmed down, she stood up to return home when she suddenly heard a snap.
Sara turned around cautiously. This wasn't the first time she had come to this part of the forest she used to come here a lot whenever she had a lot on her mind but recently she had heard rumors that it had become increasingly unsafe because of rogue wolves. Sara studied her surroundings carefully and cautiously. There was no one. Had she just imagined it? Just as she was about to calm down, she heard the same sound again. This time when Sara turned she saw two werewolves emerge from behind the bushes. Sara could immediately tell that they were rogues. She had been unprepared and unable to hide so when they looked towards her direction they saw her standing out there in the open, shocked, like a deer caught in the headlights. They began to advance towards her menacingly as Sara began to back away. As they advanced towards her, they growled softly, sending shivers down Sara's spine. They snapped at her and Sara broke into a run, they immediately began to chase her.
Sara panted heavily as she ran through the forest. The rogues were fast catching up to her. When Sara turned around her to look she didn't see the twig in front of her, she tripped on it and landed on the floor. Seeing Sara on the floor, the rogues slowed down and advanced towards her slowly. Sara tried to get up but was brought back down by a sharp pain, she had twisted her ankle. The wolves, seeing that Sara was defenseless, growled and continued advancing towards her. One of the wolves jumped at her and Sara closed her eyes shut waiting for the pain that was to come but it never did. Sara opened her eyes slowly to see the rogues struggling with another wolf, a bigger wolf. This wolf was fiercer and by far stronger. He threw the rogues around with such ease that Sara was stunned. The wolf turned around to look at her briefly and Sara saw that it had the most piercing blue eyes. The wolf turned it's attention back to the rogues and Sara watched the fight with awe. One of the rogues seeing that the new wolf was occupied with its friend inched towards Sara. Sara did not see the rogue coming and neither did the blue eyed wolf. The next thing Sara felt was a searing pain in her leg where the rogue had bit her. Sara let out a sharp scream alerting the blue eyed wolf who immediately rushed towards the second rogue and flung him away from Sara. After the attack on Sara, the blue eyed wolf seemed to become more fiercer and angrier as he tossed the two wolves around violently before finally finishing them off. As awed as Sara was by the blue eyed wolf she couldn't really focus on the latter part of their fight as her mind was reeling with the searing pain from where the wolf had bit her. She suddenly felt very dizzy but then the blue eyed wolf began to change into its human form and before Sara stood one of the most handsome men she had ever seen. He was so well built and good looking.
As he began to walk towards Sara, she whimpered and struggled to move backwards. As handsome as he was and despite the fact that he had just helped her, this strange man exuded an intensely dark and cold aura that Sara couldn't help but be scared of him. Unfortunately with her ankle twisted and the pain from the werewolf bite searing through her, there was no way for her to escape. Sara sat there watching the man as he walked towards her, unable to move, her vision becoming increasingly blurry and her headache getting more intense.
"No....", Sara whimpered.
"No, please.... please", Sara pleaded but he didn't stop.
Sara tried to stand up but the sharp pain from her ankle brought her back down. The man stopped and crouched down in front of her. He stared at her intensely and Sara shrunk back under his gaze. Her head was now swarming and her vision had become increasingly blurry. As she swooned and fainted, she was fairly sure she heard the stranger growl,
"Mate"
“Did he know I added the pill? The color remained the same, and nothing about the odor changed. Oh no…did it taste different?” Various thoughts flashed through Violet's mind as she darted her eyeballs around. She suddenly began to feel so hot despite the cool breeze that blew inside.“Violet?” Killian called out, causing Violet to raise her eyes sharply at him.“I…I don't understand what you are talking about, my Alpha. I didn't add anything to the water.” Violet stuttered, rubbing her fingers against one another.“Well…” Killian paused, dropped the cup on the table and smiled.“The water felt so refreshing, and it calmed my boiling nerves. That's why I asked you the question. Don't overthink it.” He said to her calmly. Violet took a deep breath, bit her lower lip and sighed.“You can leave.” Said Sara as she dismissed Violet. She turned to Killian, looking so perplexed as she was unsure of what just happened.“What happened just now? Did she truly mix something with the water?” Sara
“My Alpha, are we going to ignore the moon priestess warnings? I am sure she said those words for no reason.” One of the elders chipped in during the council meeting with Killian.Killian sighed, brushed his hair with his hand and shook his head.“It troubles me also. I don't understand what she meant by those words she said to Sara. Or does she imply that we use Sara as a sacrifice? That can't be possible.” Another elder added after Killian took a while to respond.Killian glanced at the two elders, they were elder Maxwell and elder Keon. Both of them had opposed him violently when he wanted to ascend the throne as the alpha of the pack. It's not surprising to him if they were actually pressuring him to use Sara as a sacrifice.“I don't think that's what she meant, elder Keon. There is something you guys don't know, and I am ready to tell you now.” Killian paused to take a deep breath. He tightened his grip around his chair, realizing the weight of what he was about to say.“Sara is
“Mother, I thought you died. How have you been all these while? You’ve suffered.” Zayne cried, he placed his mother on a sofa and sat beside her.Calypso, Zayne's mother grabbed his hand, stroked it gently and smiled. Zayne had ordered the maids to clean her up and make her refreshed. In her current state, she looked nothing less than a beautiful maiden in mid-twenties.“Don't blame yourself my son. I also didn't expect to survive the huge fire. Luckily, I was saved by a young man who took me out of the pack. Probably due to the shock, I lost my memories and just regained them weeks ago.” She explained to him. Zayne brimmed widely as he listened to Calypso's talk. He nodded his head, grabbed a bottle of wine and poured some for Calypso.“I won't forgive Killian for making you pass through that. He will pay for his sins.” Zayne uttered, clenching his fists together while Calypso instantly held his hand and tightened it even more.“Yes son, you should avenge me. The red moon pack and th
“Really? You don't want to call me Zayne?” Zayned asked with a smile. He turned over to his left side so he could stare straight at Betty.“I mean…everyone calls you Zayne, I just want to be unique.” Betty hummed, she but his lower lip, wore a little frown that would make Zayne agree to her request.Zayne sighed, laid on his back while he stared blankly at the ceiling. Betty, upon seeing she got no response from Zayne stood up and placed her hand on Zayne's bare chest.“What are you thinking?” She inquired.“Vincent.” Zayne replied to her, his face was expressionless as he mentioned the name.“What?” Betty asked, her face crawling up in confusion.Zayne's emotionless expression suddenly disappeared as a warm smile formed in his lips;“Didn't you want a unique name for me? You just reminded me of my mother. She was the only one in the world that called me Vincent, she never called me Zayne. And I also remember the scar that was right on her forehead” He explained to her. Betty slowly w
“What do you think of what the moon priestess said? Her words somehow scare me?” Sara uttered as she laid on Killian's arm, gazing at the full moon, and the shining little stars.Killian tilted his head sideways, his lower lip curled up as a smile crept on his lips.“I feel like she just said that to intimidate you, she was probably joking.” Killian replied to her. Sara snorted, her brows furrowed in confusion while she pouted her lips.“It doesn't feel like that. She seemed so serious when she delivered the message, and something tells me that it's important I listen to her.” She sighed. Killian gently sat up, pulled Sara into his embrace while he slowly rubbed her hair.“Don't be afraid. I am here. I failed to protect you the last time, I assure you that nothing will happen to you again.” Killian assured her with a soft, yet firm voice. He slowly dragged his hand down her head and rested it on her belly.“Our…our child. How's it?” Killian stuttered, his head hitting hard as he dread
“Give us your blessings, moon priestess. We’ve accepted our mate bond, and thankfully, the prophecy can be reversed.” Zayne smiled at Betty as he said to the moon priestess. The moon priestess nodded her head, walked towards Betty and smiled.“Betty, right?” She inquired, slowly grabbing Betty's injured leg and applied some whitish cream on it.“Yes, moon priestess. I fell in love with Zayne at a glance, and I can say that I want to spend the rest of my life with him.” Betty replied to the moon priestess who simply nodded her head without looking at her.The moon priestess took a deep breath, and glanced at Zayne.“It's done. Her leg should be perfectly healed in three days.” She stated, packing her stuff back into the bag.“Thank you moon priestess. It's our honor to have you here.” Zayne responded, still smiling at Betty. The moon priestess looked at Betty for a while, before a worried expression formed on her face. She seemed to give off a mixture of auras, one seemed calm and rela
