The door closed behind me, and the room fell quiet.

Light from the tall windows cut across the floor, stopping just short of the desk that now stood broken and scarred. Dust from cracked wood still floated in the air. The smell of splintered oak mixed with the faint scent of metal and oil from the weapons that were usually kept here.
