Help me

~Elira~

I didn’t remember when the music faded or when the lights disappeared or how long they dragged me across those cold floors, all I knew was the moment my body hit the ground.

It felt hard and unforgiving, and the sound of a heavy door slamming shut behind me echoed louder than anything else.

Darkness pressed around me, thick and suffocating, the air smelling damp and rotten as if something had been left to decay for too long and I could feel it settle into my lungs with every shaky breath I tried to take.

For a moment I thought I might stop breathing completely because my body felt too weak to respond, too heavy like all the strength had been pulled out and left somewhere back in that ballroom at his feet.

The music was still playing in the distance, faint but present, and the laughter followed it softly, blending into the night like nothing had happened, like I hadn’t just been broken in front of them all and everything I had hoped for had been crushed.

My fingers pressed into the cold floor as my chest tightened painfully again, that sharp ache from before returning in waves and reminding me of something I didn’t understand, something that lingered faintly in my chest like a tether I couldn’t untangle, and I thought,

‘He rejected me…’ but the words didn’t settle, didn’t bring closure, only confusion and a hollow weight that made me tremble.

I tried to inhale, but it came out shallow and broken, and as I pressed my hand to my chest I realized it wasn’t gone, the faint pull that refused to leave me, weak and unsteady and impossible to make sense of, and I wondered why it stayed even after he had looked at me with disgust.

The memory of the village flashed through my mind and hit harder than the room ever could. The fire, the screams, the way his soldiers had moved through without hesitation, killing the elderly and sparing the young only because we could be sold.

I felt my throat tighten painfully as my fingers dug into the floor, my body shaking slightly as the weight of it pressed down on me and I whispered, ‘He did this… and I’m supposed to beg to be chosen?’

Tears came then, slipping down my cheeks before I could stop them as I remembered the bodies of my parents lying still, the smoke and ash rising around the village I had once called home.

I pressed my face harder against the floor, my sobs quiet but broken as I tried to hold onto what little control I had left, my chest rising and falling unevenly as the pain twisted through me.

Voices came from the door then, the other girls from other villages that were attacked appeared and were thrown into the same room I was. I could feel their stares on me, I could hear the mockery and jealousy in their breath. There presence was like salt on a fresh wound.

“I can’t believe your mate is a king. How does that make any sense?” One said bitterly, and the others laughed.

“She must have really thought she mattered when he called her out.” Another said with laughter so annoying, I wished I could go deaf.

I didn’t respond, didn’t even move, only kept my head lowered as more tears slipped down my cheeks, my body trembling slightly under the weight of their stares.

“Can you all let her be?!” A familair voice cut them short sharply. There was silence in the room. “She is going through the worse moments of her life. Have some remorse, gosh!”

She sounded so much like the girl that was beside me throughout our journey to this kingdom, Valerith Kingdom. She seemed to be the only one nice to me, but at that moment, I couldn’t even say anything to her.

My breathing faltered, slow at first and then uneven, shallow and ragged, my chest tightening painfully again as I struggled to draw in air, as if it was being stolen from me by the faint pull still lingering in my chest.

The bond was still there, weak and uncertain but impossible to ignore, and I thought, ‘Why does it hurt? Why am I still feeling this when he looked at me with such disgust?’

I pressed my hand harder against my chest as panic began to rise, my mind spinning with confusion and fear, with the memory of the village and the pain of being broken in front of the King and everyone else, and finally I thought…

“I won’t beg to be chosen… even if part of me still wants him… even if I can’t stop feeling this… I hate him…’ and the words were uncertain and shaky, but they were mine even if I didn’t fully believe them yet.

The door opened again, heavier this time, sharper, and the whispers in the room died instantly as the shadow of someone tall and commanding fell over me.

My body tensed instinctively as the footsteps drew closer, and the words came flat, “The King has given orders for the girl.”

My heart skipped, and I froze where I lay as realization hit me like a blow, then hands grabbed me again, rough and unyielding, pulling me to my feet and making me stumble.

The cold air of the night hit my skin as they dragged me through halls that became emptier and colder. The warmth of the palace disappeared and the woods opened up before me, dark, silent and endless.

They let go of me and I was made to kneel before them. They all pulled out their bows and arrows and pointed it right at me.

My heart sank. my legs weakened and my body shivered, the weight of what was coming pressing down on me, and I whispered in a cracked voice, “No… wait… please… why…?”

The guards didn’t answer, they only tightened their grip on their bows, ready to launch at the next given order.

One of them finally spoke, flat and uninterested, “You were becoming a nuisance. Your emotions were starting to piss the King off.”

The words hit harder than anything else. My chest tightened as I closed my eyes, ready to accept death.

“Ready?!”

With tears still sliding down my cheeks and my body trembling against the cold ground, a sudden sharp sound tore through the woods. Branches snapping and something hard beating against the dirt and dry leaves. My brows furrowed and I tilted my head, my eyes still closed.

Suddenly, there were screams from the men who had captured me, followed by a strange noise that made my heart lurch violently and my body tense again.

And the next minute, there was silence and a strong smell of blood in the air. The same way my village smelt after the destruction.

“Hello…?” My heart pounded. This time, my eyes shut even tighter as I feared the horror before me. And before I could think, the words slipped out of my mouth.

“Please help me.”

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    End this

~Kael~The corridors stretched long and silent as I walked through them, my steps steady, the sound of my boots echoing faintly against the stone walls as guards straightened the moment I passed, their heads lowering in immediate acknowledgment.Footsteps approached from behind, and I didn’t need to turn to know who it was. Drex.“My King,” he called, his voice low but carrying enough urgency to draw my attention.I slowed slightly, just enough for him to step beside me. “What is it?” I asked, my tone even.“There has been… a development,” he said carefully, immediately sharpening my focus. My gaze shifted slightly.“Speak.”He exhaled lightly before continuing. “One of our outer patrol units returned at dawn,” he said, “they encountered a small group near the eastern forest borders.”I said nothing, letting him continue.“They were not ordinary travelers,” he added, “their movement was coordinated and trained.”That was enough to catch my full attention. “And?” I asked.“One of them

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    More pain

~Elira~The weight of the stick felt different in my hands now, not lighter or easier, but familiar. My grip firmer than it had been days ago as I faced the others on the training ground. The air was cool against my skin, carrying the faint scent of earth and wood as movement filled the space around me, the sound of sticks clashing and feet shifting against the ground. While others worked hard and relentless to keep the building of the fence afloat. Ryker has been too busy seeing to the construction ongoing, leaving me without a choice other than to train with other trainees. A strike came toward me and I reacted, faster than before, lifting my stick to meet it as the impact ran through my arms. My grip tightened as I held it there for a second longer than I would have before, my footing more stable even as the force pushed against me.But it wasn’t enough. It never was.The pressure broke through and I stumbled back slightly, my foot dragging against the ground before I caught myse

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    Palace Kitchen

~Nira~The heat in the kitchen clung to my skin the moment I stepped in. It was thick and constant as the firewood burned beneath the large pots, steam rose in slow curls that carried the scent of spices and cooked meat into the already crowded space.Voices filled the room almost immediately like they always were whenever too many people were forced into one place for too long, and yet somehow, I had learned to exist within it without letting it touch me too deeply. My hands moved without hesitation as I focused on the task in front of me, carefully slicing through a pile of vegetables laid out on the worn wooden table. The blade moved in a steady rhythm as I kept my eyes down, letting the familiar motion keep me grounded while everything else carried on around me.It was easier that way. Easier to listen without being noticed and to think without being pulled into conversations that led nowhere. The others, however, had no such restraint.“Have you heard?” one of the girls started,

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    Thank you

~Ryker~I caught her before she hit the ground. My hand closed around her arm, the other steadying her at her waist as her body stilled against mine for a brief second. Her breath caught lightly as she looked up.We were too close. And then I saw her.Lyra stood a short distance away, her gaze fixed on us, unmoving, but there was something in the stillness that didn’t sit right, something that lingered longer than it should have.I released Elira immediately, stepping back as though the moment had not happened, my expression settling into something neutral again.“You’ll get better,” I said to Elira. She nodded slightly, adjusting her grip on the stick again, and I didn’t wait for anything else.“Keep practicing,” I added before turning away from her completely.I walked toward Lyra without rushing, my steps steady and measured as I closed the distance between us, stopping only when we were far enough from the others that whatever she had to say would stay between us.I didn’t speak

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    Aggressive

~Kael~The morning came quieter than the night before, but the silence did nothing to settle what lingered beneath my skin. It only made it easier to notice, easier to feel the absence of control where there should have been none lost in the first place.I stood by the tall window of my chamber, my hands resting behind my back as my gaze stretched over the kingdom below, the people moving as they always did. It had been hours since the report, hours since the disturbance, and yet the irritation had not faded. The bond had been silent since the night of the ball, weak enough to dismiss. I had allowed myself to believe that it would die out on its own, that whatever remained would eventually fade into nothing as it should have the moment I rejected her.But it hadn’t. And that alone was unacceptable. The sound of footsteps reached me before the knock came. I did not turn immediately, my gaze remaining fixed ahead as the door opened without waiting for permission.Drex stepped in, his p

  • The Alpha King’s Rejected Slave    Training

~Elira~The moment I stepped out of the room, the air felt different against my skin. It was cooler, lighter amd carrying a freshness I hadn’t realized I had been craving until now. I paused for a brief second just outside the door, my eyes adjusting to the open space as I took in my surroundings properly for the first time.Ryker didn’t rush me, he simply stood beside me as though he already understood that everything about this place was new to me. It was unfamiliar but not unwelcoming. The pack house stretched wider than I had expected, built into the mountain in a way that made it feel both natural and intentional. The wooden structures blended seamlessly with the rocky terrain as though they had grown from it rather than being placed there. There were different sections, some slightly elevated, others connected by narrow paths. I could see people moving about in the distance, some in conversation, others carrying out tasks with a quiet sense of order that felt nothing like the c
