Zane's POV

“You’re scowling for no reason?” she said calmly, but the way she eyed me, told me she wasn’t buying my bullshit. I grunted a reply, trying to ignore her. But of course, the second she spoke, my wolf’s focus was all on her. As if hearing her speak, he finally realized that nothing of what was going on was read and that the fearless ranger was sitting right in front of us.

Stupid animal!

“Going to tell me what’s bothering you?” she sighed exasperated – as if I was being an unruly child. Which just pissed me off!

“No!” I growled, pissed by now. Nothing was going my way lately. Not my plans, not my pain, not my anger. My wolf was out of control, my investigation was only hitting dead ends---

Nothing was the way it was supposed to be!

Arella clicked her tongue, unbothered by my attitude. Not that it surprised me anymore. My alpha aura was swirl

Zane's POV“You’re not alone in your grief and love is not a weakness!” Arella’s words cut through to me and finally, I saw the reality for what it truly was. “It’s the bridge that will connect you to the people you care about even beyond death! And if you lose that, you truly lose yourself!”She spun around finally finding the bandage that she’d been looking for. And finally – FINALLY! – I realized something important…“Who?” I asked softly, as all the rage and anger melted away. “Who did you lose?”It was the only thing that made sense. Why she could relate to me so easily. Why she was so defensive of my children. Why she understood their and my emotions so well. She knew grief…“My mother,” she replied, her voice losing some of its edges. And as if mentioning her mother, my little angel’s lips title

Zane’s POVMy saving angel…A small smile crept over my face. Once I said those words with a sarcastic and mocking undertone. Now I realized it was my favorite nickname for her. She felt so perfect in my arms, all I wanted to do was hold her close and---Kiss her!For a second I could have sworn it was my wolf’s voice urging me. Or perhaps I just finally voiced the desire that had been brewing inside my guts ever since I’d first laid eyes on her. But I didn’t care which one it was.I just wanted her…I leaned forward and following my wolf’s or my own instincts, I brushed my lips against hers. Gently at first, seeing how she responded. She froze for a second, as if she couldn’t believe what was happening. The thought struck me that she might not want this. And had I been a normal man, I would have pulled back. Giving her a chance to accept me or push me away.I

Zane's POVI waited until Arella was asleep before I stood and walked out of the cabin. I undressed and shifted into my huge brown beast that quickly ate up the distance between the cabin and the castle. I gave a quick greeting to the border patrols and again to the guards when we entered the castle. The sun had gone down a long time ago and it was well past midnight, so I didn’t bother asking where the children were. I might be a shitty father, but even I knew how to keep track of their bedtime.“Zane?”I spun around to see Noah giving me a surprised look.“What are you doing here?” he asked--- and my wolf let out a low growl.“He seriously needs to get laid!” my wolf gruffly huffed, in a voice I barely recognized. But that still didn’t stop me from mentally grinning. Yeah, that sounded like something my old wolf would have said. I snickered, and for a brief moment, wondered

The stereotypes are there for gags – please just laugh…Arella’s POVHe kissed me!Zane actually kissed me--- and I didn’t slap the living shit out of him! I honestly think that’s what shocked me the most. Not the fact that he was a divine kisser – I already suspected that he was… I mean, I’d seen his body. There was no way that a guy like that didn’t have a harem of women throwing themselves at him at every corner…And a part of me hated that!Hated that he probably had countless women begging for his attention. Women that had gone all the way and knew what that steel shaft felt like. Knew what it was like to have Zane fill them up completely--- while I’d pushed him away.Stupid! So stupid! Why had I done that? What was the harm again? I mean ranger and criminal sounded more like a bad Spanish soap opera o

Arella's POVPain and betrayal raced hot through my veins and I hated the fact that my eyes stung with tears. Damn it! I ran for the chest and slammed it open, cursing myself for being so stupid. For still being so naïve, for letting myself---It hadn’t been touched. All of my weapons and magazines were all still there. He hadn’t taken off with them. With a strange sense of relief and surprise, I stood gaping at the chest for another moment. Why hadn’t he taken off with it, a part of me wondered? That part of me was also the part that accepted that I’d never be loved and accepted. That I was a fool for trusting men. That I was wrong in trusting Zane and his stupid words.Another part of me was confused. Why hadn’t he taken them when he had the chance? That part of me wondered. When he knew, that I was beginning to trust him? When I was giving in to his infuriating, demanding yet seductive presence

Arella's POV“I don’t know!” I yelled again and threw out my arms, forgetting that I had a loaded gun in my hands. Angry at myself now, I slammed it down on the table before turning to him again. “No woman knows how a man can tell her to calm down! That’s the point of being upset. You’re upset!”“Fine, be upset,” Zane growled back and folded his huge arms over his impressive chest. “But I’m not telling you shit until your ass has the fuck calmed down, so be my guest and sulk!”Silence! My pounding heart seemed to be the only thing that echoed in the quiet room. But surprisingly, it wasn’t speeding up like you might have expected it to do.It calmed…Because whether I liked it or not, I couldn’t control Zane. I couldn’t force anything out of him and, honestly, I was the one acting like a brat right now. Zane wanted to sha

Zane’s POVFor a second, everything inside of me went black. There were no emotions. No senses.Nothing…Just a void of nothingness. All while a film played out in front of me.No sounds. No color.Nothing… Arella was in the line of fire. The man pulled the trigger. And I didn’t do anything!Nothing…I just stood there – frozen as I watched her jump in front of me. I didn’t act. I didn’t think. I didn’t--- Well, actually, I did think one thing:What the hell is that female doing here? And then I had dismissed her, counting on her to be smart enough to stay out of danger.Infuriating female!Sure, the man had a gun pointed toward me, but there was no bullet that could kill me. It had to be laced with silver or wolf’s bane to harm the King of t

Zane’s POVI sat there, staring at her in the hospital bed. A whirlwind of emotions had washed through me the last couple of hours and, honestly, I felt exhausted.I felt guilty.I’d failed her…She’d almost died protecting me because she didn’t know that--- My wolf growled low, wishing he could kill those asshole humans again. But in a way, I also wanted to thank them. NOT for shooting my little angel, but--- if they hadn’t, then…I know I should feel like a bastard!I know I should feel bad for taking away her choice. That I’d turned her, without her even knowing what I was.Yet a part of me couldn’t be sorry.I’d already decided to show her what I was. WARNING: this chapter includes sex!Arella’s POVZane pulled me closer, and I would have gasped at how small he could make me feel – but in the best way possible. His hands were so big they easily covered my asscheeks when he lifted me onto his lap. He squeezed it so delectably well, that it made me want to moan. Tell him to do it again, as each one of his touches felt like an electric pulse to my pussy. But I couldn’t say anything because his tongue was currently exploring my mouth, teasing it like it was his to claim.Well, two could play at that game!Fisting my fingers through his hair, I moved up his body, pressing myself against him, so there was nothing between us. He let out a groan that was swallowed by my lips pressing against his. I pushed back, my tongue easily slipping into his mouth. And FUCK!His taste exploded on my tongue, like fireworks. Suddenly he was the taste I had lon

Arella’s POVZane looked like I’d just slapped him, the information making his brain melt. He lowered his eyes, staring at the floor’s reflection as if it replayed the past. His hands were clutching his knees as though they were the only things holding him together. His anguish filled the space between us, thick and suffocating, and my heart ached at the sight of him unraveling. When he finally looked up, the pain in his eyes was raw, almost unbearable.“No,” he started, his voice barely above a whisper, as he shook his head. “It’s my fault. I should have---”“I know you think that,” I interrupted gently, leaning forward. “It’s called survivor’s guilt, Zane, and it’s a bitch to deal with. But in the end, it’s all in your head.”“How can you say that?” He snapped, his brow furrowed and confusion flickering across his face. “Hel

Arella's POV“I don’t know if I can!” I replied, desperately grasping onto the pain that had kept me safe for all these years. “You hurt me, Zane! Badly! And repeatedly!”“I’m sorry,” he spoke softly, his fingers brushing against my skin and making sweet sparks erupt up my arm. “I thought I was protecting you.”“And fucking that Omega?” I hissed, hating how it hurt getting those words over my lips. “Just driving the point home?”“I haven’t touched anyone since I met you,” he replied, sounding confused--- and then realization dawned on him. I braced for the inevitable pain of more betrayal and hurt. What I got, however... “One of the Omegas did offer herself to me, but I declined.”I scoffed.“Does that happen a lot?” I asked sarcastically, not believing for a second that nothing happened. He was a man

Arella’s POV“Wh-what?!”Was all I managed to stutter at the mind-blowing confession Zane had just made. A part of me didn’t even believe him. Yeah, it had to be some sort of ploy to get near me again. His wolf needed it so as not to go mad, or something!Still, I couldn’t stop the way my heart fluttered in my chest…“I love you,” he repeated--- and my damn heart skipped another beat! “I’ve been falling in love with you for a long time. That’s why I’ve been acting like a fucking asshole. I’ve been trying to protect you. Trying to convince everyone that you don’t matter to me, because I didn’t want your death on my hands! But apparently, I’ve been doing a crap job of it because people are making bet pools on when I’m going to mate you.”That--- was a lot of information to process!“You’re unbelievable,” I sna

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 95

Zane's POVWalking over, I checked my wolf, knowing that the beast always reacted badly when talking about the past. And sure enough, he was snarling at the air, as if the memories haunting him were physically hurting him. Hoping to calm him just a little, I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with my angel’s scent. The snarling stopped, but he remained on edge – good enough for now...“It was a year ago,” I began, sitting across from Arella, but finding it hard to remain still. “Some--- rogues… They---they somehow managed to pass the border patrol. Helena and Eva were out in the field that day, having a picnic, when--- when they swarmed the area. They managed to take Eva.”“They kidnapped her?” Arella gasped, horrified.I nodded, remembering the day like a weird nightmare. Everything had been so wrong. The sun had been shining and Noah had cracked some lame joke. Selena and our pare

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 94

Zane’s POVI paused outside the banquet hall, taking in a deep breath to calm my nerves. I had so much shit to make up for, I knew I was up shit’s creek without a paddle. Hell, at this point I was pretty sure the whole boat was gone!My wolf made a weird sound, which sounded a lot like approval. Making an internal check, I realized that the beast was calmer now, taking in her scent that was saturated in that area. He even made a contented purr, wagging his tail like a freaking puppy. I could even let down the mental barrier between us, and he just stood there, urging me to go to her…Bizarre beast!I carefully opened the door--- and had to stifle a gasp when I saw the inside. The hall was alive with color and the soft buzz of preparation. Streamers, balloons, and floral arrangements covered every surface, their cheerful vibrancy bringing life to an otherwise old and traditional wall decor. There were tables set up with

Zane's POVMy head snapped up, and he quickly explained: “They searched, but they didn’t think of looking beyond their borders. And the second girl told her friends she was surprising her family who lives in another pack. They even got a couple of messages from her, keeping them updated on her journey. They only got suspicions when the warning had come out to the packs, since she fit the description. So they contacted her family directly. She never showed up.”More bad news...“And her phone?” I asked, scrolling through the information that I already knew by heart. “If she kept messaging the family after she was taken it’s safe to assume that it’s her kidnappers who have her phone.”Noah nodded his agreement.“We’ve been trying to track it, but the signal jumps between cell towers, making it impossible to pin down,” he sighed in frustration. “Whoever is d

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 92

Zane’s POVThe next couple of days felt like they lasted a lifetime! The days had dragged on, stretching like an eternity as I struggled to keep myself together. Every moment apart from Arella felt like a punishment, like I was carving pieces of myself away. But I had to do it.For her. This is for her own protection, damn it! I kept repeating that to myself, even as my wolf thrashed against my barriers, demanding her presence, her touch. He didn’t understand—hell, sometimes I didn’t understand—why I couldn’t go to her. But I knew. If THEY realized how fucking much she meant to me, they’d target her, she’d be next. And I wouldn’t survive that. She had called me selfish...If she only knew how fucking painful this was, she wouldn’t be calling me selfish. My wolf was howling and raging against my mental barriers, tearing me up from the inside. His intense o

Arella's POVHe hissed the words, and I felt his pain deep in my soul. He grabbed my shoulders and pushed me back until my spine hit the wall. The sparks erupted across my skin, making me shudder despite my anger. With every breath, our bodies rubbed up against each other, making me have to stifle a moan. I hated how my body reacted to him, but I couldn’t help it. He was everything I wanted, and I had to physically hold myself back not to climb him like a tree and---“I’ve tried, okay? I tried letting you go, but I always come back to you.” He loomed over me, his voice a raw growl. “I’m a selfish prick—just like you said—because I can’t let you go! Even if that means---” His voice broke off and clarity returned to his eyes. He turned away, his words crashed over me like a wave, leaving me breathless. What the---?! He stepped back, raking his hands through his hair. His
