CHAPTER TEN

I waited for Dominic to return but two hours had passed and he still wasn’t back. How long does it take to patrol around such a small cabin?

I notice the flames dying down in the fireplace so I walk over to the stack of wood Dominic had brought in and I grab a few logs and toss them in. Grabbing the fire poker I move them further in so the fire starts to gain its strength. The only light on in the cabin is the light from fire. I sit back down and watch the flames burn higher.

Where are you Dominic?

I sigh as I lay on my side facing the fire. At times like this I wish I would have been a werewolf so I could mind-link with Dominic and ask him if he was okay and if he’d be home soon.

My eyelids become heavy and before I knew it sleep took over.

My eyes opened when the door to the cabin opened and slammed shut. Dominic doesn’t even spare me a glance as he storms off toward the bedroom.

“Dominic?”

When he doesn’t answer I get up and follow in
