DAISY

“Mine!” Aldric growled as he poured his seeds into me, marking me at the same time.

Last night was a blast. I couldn’t stop grinning as I walked through the pack house, replaying every moment in my mind.

Two nights ago was my birthday dinner party, and on the same night I met my mate. I was a northern princess, and he was a Western Alpha. He brought me here to his pack yesterday, leaving my family and everything I knew behind.

I’d been betrayed so many times before. But Aldric was different. He seemed gentle, pure, sincere. Everything I’d been waiting for. So, the sacrifice was worth it.

“Kira,” I tried to reach out to my wolf again, but there was no response.

She had appeared only once, two nights ago. I’d barely managed to get her name before she vanished. I had been trying to reach her ever since, but to no avail. I was starting to worry. Maybe it was because I was half witch and half wolf—the first hybrid to ever exist. I had no idea how it was supposed to work, but I prayed she’d come back soon.

As I continued down the corridor, pack members’ stares followed me. At first, I thought it was simple curiosity as they were just seeing their new Luna. But then I caught the unmistakable look of pity in their eyes.

What was happening?

Murmurs soon erupted around me, throwing me into panic.

“He just wouldn’t let go of that bitch,” a voice wafted into my ears.

“Look, he has even marked her, but still fucking that bitch in his office,” another one said.

My stomach dropped. Blood roared in my ears as suspicions washed over me. My heart began to beat dangerously against my ribcage.

Without thinking, my legs carried me as fast as they could to his office. Aldric had shown me around the pack house yesterday, including his office, so I knew exactly where to go.

When I burst his office door open, I froze in shock. My stomach twisted violently at the devastating sight before me.

Lilith, the woman Aldric had introduced as his childhood best friend, was bent over his desk while he drove into her from behind.

He jerked back the instant he saw me and pulled up his pants. Lilith yanked her skirt down, her face flushed.

“Daisy,” Aldric said sharply, as though I’d barged in on him. “What are you doing here?”

“You—” My throat closed up. The bitter taste of betrayal filled my mouth. Hot and vile.

His eyes darkened as he shoved Lilith aside and stepped toward me. “It’s not what you think. I can explain—”

When he tried to touch me, I lifted my hand and struck him hard across the face. “Do not touch me!”

His eyes flashed with rage before softening into the same tender look that once soothed me—the façade I’d been stupid enough to trust.

He rubbed his jaw slowly. “You’re angry. Go to the room and rest. When you’ve calmed down, we’ll talk.”

My hands trembled. Magic surged hot in my veins, screaming to be unleashed, to curse him into impotence. But I didn’t do that. Instead, I spun on my heel and bolted out of the room as fast as my legs could carry me.

Tears blurred my vision as I stumbled into the room where he had mated and marked me just last night. I clawed at my luggage, shoving my few belongings inside with shaking hands.

The door suddenly opened and Aldric strode inside. He paused when he saw me dragging my luggage across the floor. His eyes narrowed. “What are you doing?”

“Move!” I growled as I tried to push past him. He grabbed my arm and yanked me back.

Then he let go but blocked the doorway with his body.

Running his fingers through his hair, he sighed heavily. “When Lilith and I turned eighteen and didn’t find our mates, we made a pact to become chosen mates.” He looked at me, and I almost fell for the fake sorrow in his eyes. “Please understand. I couldn’t just get rid of her after I found you.”

Bile rose in my throat. His excuses were even more disgusting than the act itself.

Crocodile tears sprang down his face as he pressed on. “But now I see what I’ve done. I’ll end things with her, I swear it. I don’t want to lose you, Daisy.”

His words stabbed into me like knives, twisting deeper with every syllable. My chest ached with unbearable pressure. I just wanted to get the hell out.

“I. Said. Move!” My voice shook as I raised my hand, magic swelling hot and sharp in my palm.

But before I could release it, cold metal clamped around my wrists.

It was a dark object used to restrain witches. Once cuffed around the wrists, magic is neutralized until taken off.

But I was no ordinary witch and was much more powerful than a restraining dark object.

A dark, bitter chuckle escaped me as I flicked my gaze at him. “You think this can stop me?”

Without hesitation, I channeled my power from its deep sources, attempting to break free from the dark object. But my magic felt so weak against the power of the cuff.

Terror sliced through me.

Aldric’s eyes hardened, turning dark and dangerous as he dragged me by my hair and cuffed me to the bed with a regular handcuff.

GIDEONIf Ethan wasn’t my best friend and my Beta, I would’ve had his head for continuously daring me. After Daisy left, I jerked him by his collar and flung him until his back collided violently with a tree, sending him crumpling to the floor.“Gideon,” he winced as he tried to stand up.“Try me again, and I will have your head on a pike!” I growled, fury vibrating through my chest.“This is wrong. You know it,” he jerked to his feet, patting himself down to brush away the dirt clinging to him.I lifted my brow. “How?”“She is someone else’s Luna! I am only looking out for you!”“Leave, and return to the pack. That’s an order,” I groaned as I abruptly turned around and marched away.He believed the people would despise me for using my power to take someone else’s Luna away from him. But Aldric didn’t deserve her. She was a treasure that was meant to be cherished, unlike the way he treated her. It took every restraint in me not to rip his head off any time I saw him. When I aimed my g

DAISYMy soul practically leapt out of my body when he fired that shot. For a split second, I thought he had murdered Aldric. But the bullet whizzed past Aldric, missing him by barely an inch, and instead struck the buffalo that had been standing far behind him.Aldric remained frozen in shock for a moment, before turning around to see the buffalo that had already dropped dead to the ground.“Poah!” The sound of another gunshot rang through the air, and I instinctively jerked backwards.Gideon slung his rifle over his shoulder, tilting his head with a smug look.“I win!” he declared.Aldric’s face paled, rage evidently bursting through him. But he masked it with a forced smile, “Congratulations, Alpha. I expected nothing—“He trailed off when Lilith’s scream echoed from a distance. His eyes widened in fear, and he didn’t wait another second before turning around and bolting away.“I want to ask you something,” Gideon muttered, flicking his gaze at me.“What?” I asked curiously.“You a

Sweat poured from my body, soaking through my clothes as I struggled against the restraints. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t.Fear consumed my entire being.I panted heavily, tears flowing down my cheeks. No. Please. What was happening?“Daisy. Save us.”My wolf’s voice suddenly echoed through my hazy mind.“Kira!” I quickly called. But there was no response.“Kira! Kira! Kira!” I kept screaming. But still, silence.I was terrified out of my own mind. I didn’t know what else to do as I continued to desperately thrash against the table.“Daisy. Wake up. Daisy!”Mila’s distant voice drifted through my head.My eyes snapped open. A loud gasp escaped me as I shot upright. I was drenched in sweat, my heart hammering so hard it hurt.

DAISY“Hello?” Lilith snapped her fingers at my face, dragging me back to reality.I really wasn’t ready for this. My life was already a mess, too chaotic for me to be worried about my mate’s mistress. With my heart squeezing painfully against my ribcage, I turned to walk away from her. But she grabbed me and yanked me back with force.I snapped. My eyes flashed with undiluted rage as a low growl rumbled in my throat.“Get your filthy hand off me.”“No, I won’t.” She tightened her grip on my arm, pulling me even closer. Something dark flickered in her eyes as she hissed, “You have no idea what’s coming for you. I’ll make your life a living hell.”“Why?” I tilted my head. “Oh, I know. You want to chase me away. So you can keep screwing him? Bitch!”Her eyes blazed with fury for a moment before she quickly replaced it with a sinister smile. “You are just jealous. Admit it. Do you want to know the style he enjoys the most?” She leaned closer and whispered, “Alpha Gideon too. Do you want

DAISYAldric slid his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him in a possessive grip. Low rumbles vibrated from his throat as his glare burned into Gideon, but he dared not openly challenge him. The sudden display of jealousy was nauseating.Gideon’s eyes narrowed at the hand on me, and I could practically see steam pouring out of his head.“You can leave. I’ll continue from here,” Aldric groaned.“No.” Gideon’s tone cut through sharp. “I am done here. For today. But I’ll remain in this pack until the work is concluded. In the meantime, prepare a room for me to stay.”My eyes widened in perplexity. No. Having him around would be torture. I’d have to struggle every day to not throw myself into his arms.“Actually, two rooms,” another voice suddenly said.I turned to see the man from last night approaching. The one who had saved me from completely giving myself over to Gideon. Perhaps he was his beta?“Ethan,” he sighed and shook his head in clear annoyance.“I don’t think that is n

DAISYBefore the door had even swung open completely, I hurriedly pushed Gideon away. My heart leapt into my throat as Mila stepped inside, carrying a tray that held wine and a single flute. She paused, her eyes flicking between us suspiciously.Gideon remained maddeningly calm, while I stood there, struggling to catch my breath.“Drop it and leave,” he instructed coldly.“Yes, Alpha.” She gave him a slight bow as she ventured into the room and placed the tray on the desk.“May I...” she lifted the drink to pour it, but—“You can leave,” he groaned.“Yes, Alpha.” She nodded at him and gave me a slight, weary nod as well before disappearing out of the room.“Now, it’s just the two of us. Again,” Gideon smirked as he tried to wrap his arm around me again. But I shoved him away. “Get your hands off,” I groaned. My mind immediately went to Mila. She had pretended not to see anything, but I was certain she had. The thought made me uneasy. I didn’t want her to get the wrong impression. Seei
