DAISY

“Mine!” Aldric growled as he poured his seeds into me, marking me at the same time.

Last night was a blast. I couldn’t stop grinning as I walked through the pack house, replaying every moment in my mind.

Two nights ago was my birthday dinner party, and on the same night I met my mate. I was a northern princess, and he was a Western Alpha. He brought me here to his pack yesterday, leaving my family and everything I knew behind.

I’d been betrayed so many times before. But Aldric was different. He seemed gentle, pure, sincere. Everything I’d been waiting for. So, the sacrifice was worth it.

“Kira,” I tried to reach out to my wolf again, but there was no response.

She had appeared only once, two nights ago. I’d barely managed to get her name before she vanished. I had been trying to reach her ever since, but to no avail. I was starting to worry. Maybe it was because I was half witch and half wolf—the first hybrid to ever exist. I had no idea how it was supposed to work, but I prayed she’d come back soon.

As I continued down the corridor, pack members’ stares followed me. At first, I thought it was simple curiosity as they were just seeing their new Luna. But then I caught the unmistakable look of pity in their eyes.

What was happening?

Murmurs soon erupted around me, throwing me into panic.

“He just wouldn’t let go of that bitch,” a voice wafted into my ears.

“Look, he has even marked her, but still fucking that bitch in his office,” another one said.

My stomach dropped. Blood roared in my ears as suspicions washed over me. My heart began to beat dangerously against my ribcage.

Without thinking, my legs carried me as fast as they could to his office. Aldric had shown me around the pack house yesterday, including his office, so I knew exactly where to go.

When I burst his office door open, I froze in shock. My stomach twisted violently at the devastating sight before me.

Lilith, the woman Aldric had introduced as his childhood best friend, was bent over his desk while he drove into her from behind.

He jerked back the instant he saw me and pulled up his pants. Lilith yanked her skirt down, her face flushed.

“Daisy,” Aldric said sharply, as though I’d barged in on him. “What are you doing here?”

“You—” My throat closed up. The bitter taste of betrayal filled my mouth. Hot and vile.

His eyes darkened as he shoved Lilith aside and stepped toward me. “It’s not what you think. I can explain—”

When he tried to touch me, I lifted my hand and struck him hard across the face. “Do not touch me!”

His eyes flashed with rage before softening into the same tender look that once soothed me—the façade I’d been stupid enough to trust.

He rubbed his jaw slowly. “You’re angry. Go to the room and rest. When you’ve calmed down, we’ll talk.”

My hands trembled. Magic surged hot in my veins, screaming to be unleashed, to curse him into impotence. But I didn’t do that. Instead, I spun on my heel and bolted out of the room as fast as my legs could carry me.

Tears blurred my vision as I stumbled into the room where he had mated and marked me just last night. I clawed at my luggage, shoving my few belongings inside with shaking hands.

The door suddenly opened and Aldric strode inside. He paused when he saw me dragging my luggage across the floor. His eyes narrowed. “What are you doing?”

“Move!” I growled as I tried to push past him. He grabbed my arm and yanked me back.

Then he let go but blocked the doorway with his body.

Running his fingers through his hair, he sighed heavily. “When Lilith and I turned eighteen and didn’t find our mates, we made a pact to become chosen mates.” He looked at me, and I almost fell for the fake sorrow in his eyes. “Please understand. I couldn’t just get rid of her after I found you.”

Bile rose in my throat. His excuses were even more disgusting than the act itself.

Crocodile tears sprang down his face as he pressed on. “But now I see what I’ve done. I’ll end things with her, I swear it. I don’t want to lose you, Daisy.”

His words stabbed into me like knives, twisting deeper with every syllable. My chest ached with unbearable pressure. I just wanted to get the hell out.

“I. Said. Move!” My voice shook as I raised my hand, magic swelling hot and sharp in my palm.

But before I could release it, cold metal clamped around my wrists.

It was a dark object used to restrain witches. Once cuffed around the wrists, magic is neutralized until taken off.

But I was no ordinary witch and was much more powerful than a restraining dark object.

A dark, bitter chuckle escaped me as I flicked my gaze at him. “You think this can stop me?”

Without hesitation, I channeled my power from its deep sources, attempting to break free from the dark object. But my magic felt so weak against the power of the cuff.

Terror sliced through me.

Aldric’s eyes hardened, turning dark and dangerous as he dragged me by my hair and cuffed me to the bed with a regular handcuff.

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   127| In Your Eyes, I See My Destiny

DAISYA dull ache settled in my chest and stomach. A terrible feeling ran through my blood as guilt washed over me for misjudging Lila. I should’ve known when she told me that not everything was as it seemed in Gabriel’s den.I should’ve known when she saw that my wolf had been released but lied to Gabriel that her gift was still lost. From the way her eyes snapped open and she gasped, I knew she had seen it.I should’ve known when she secretly gave us the spell that cured those who had fallen into a deep slumber under Gabriel’s spell.Lila may have been a villain many years ago, but she had done her best to prove to us that villains could change sometimes. And she did. She became a better person and even went as far as sacrificing her life to protect the world from her own father. She may have been so annoying, but I couldn’t deny the fact that I liked her. Her wit, her jokes, her lush red hair. She would be greatly missed.Right now, beneath the full moon above us, we were all gather

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   126| Karma Is a Bitch

DAISY“Did you think this barrier could hold me back, kiddo?” Gabriel lifted his brows, seemingly confident.“You’ll lose that mouth of yours by the time I’m done with you.” I flicked my gaze to Mother. “Please, the handcuffs...”“I’ll get them right away,” she said, not allowing me to finish my sentence. She teleported out of the room and was back in less than three minutes.Taking the cuffs from her, I flung them through the barrier, using my magic to hook them around his wrists. Now he couldn’t perform any magic whatsoever. But Gabriel was smart and powerful, and he could figure out how to break free from them within a few hours.“Mom. What next?” I turned to look at her.She folded her arms and shook her head. “I have no idea. I am still in shock.”“Can you quickly lend me your phone? I need to call Gideon,” I asked my mother. He would already be so worried about me.“Oh, we spoke just a few minutes before you arrived. I was about to go to the West, even,” Mother said as she hande

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   125| Next Breath

DAISYGideon had some pack matters to sort out, so I returned to the bedroom. I sat on the bed, racking my brain, trying to interpret the sudden dream and the dark aura I had felt.We all believed Gabriel was dead. Could he have lied about the secret to terminating him forever and only made a fool of us when we gathered those three ingredients and used them to stab him?Frustration consumed me, and I raked my fingers through my hair, tugging at it tightly. I should’ve fucking known he wasn’t stupid enough to lay bare his secrets like that when he knew I could use them against him.If Gabriel was truly alive, we were back to ground zero, and getting rid of him would be even more difficult now.Think, Daisy, think! How can we get him once and for all? He must have gotten a guide on how to clone himself from somewhere, and that would also contain how to put an end to the clones. The ancient werewolf grimoire should contain something like that. Even the grimoire my great-grandmother left

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   124| Congratulations.

DAISY“Pregnant?” I repeated.“Yes. I had suspected it, but I wanted to confirm it before telling you. I think I can sense another life growing inside us,” Kira said.An overwhelming sense of joy engulfed me. If we were truly pregnant, then I would be the happiest woman alive today. I needed to go to the hospital and get confirmation. With that, I dragged myself into the bathroom, took a shower, slipped into a floral maxi dress, and headed to the hospital to get confirmation from the doctor. My blood sample was taken, and the necessary tests were carried out while I waited in a private waiting area within the hospital.Several minutes later, the doctor returned with a white envelope, a wide smile spreading across his face.“Congratulations, Luna Queen. The pack’s heir is on the way!” he beamed.“Really?” My eyes widened as I snatched the envelope and pulled the sheet of paper out, reading the result. It said I tested positive for pregnancy. My lips spread into a big smile as I slipped

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   123| Blinding and Intense.

DAISYBack in the bedroom, the massive bed had been decorated beautifully. There were petals arranged in the shape of a heart on the bed, gift boxes placed on it, and balloons hanging from the ceiling. Petals and candles were scattered all over the floor.A wide smile spread across my lips.“Oh, shit!” Gideon groaned. “I forgot to ask the maids to light the candles on our way here. I had asked them to hold on.”“It’s fine,” a soft chuckle escaped me. “I can just do it.”My hand stretched forward, and I cast the spell that made fire light up the candles.A sense of satisfaction spread through me, not because I had lit the candles, but because I had done it successfully and effortlessly, without blowing up the entire building. I now had full control of my magic, even when it was at its peak.“Perks of having a witch by my side,” Gideon chuckled, and I winked at him.I ventured further into the room and sat by the bed to unbox my gifts. They were collections of bags, shoes, dresses, jewe

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   122 | A Surprise for You

DAISY“Why would Lila help us?” I muttered as I slowly inched closer to my mate, took the note, and glanced at it.Before Gabriel’s death, she had betrayed us and given her loyalty to him. Unless...“Perhaps she never betrayed us after all. Maybe she just wanted to get close enough to him to attack him,” Mother voiced out my thoughts.“But she helped Gabriel torture me while I was in captivity. And she was there when he almost killed Violet. If she hadn’t betrayed us, then why didn’t she stop him? And why isn’t she coming out to explain now that Gabriel is dead, instead of slipping us a note with a spell?” I muttered. Before anyone could respond, I moved toward Violet and crouched beside her. “We can think about that later. Let’s worry about reviving Violet first.”I looked at the spell again to memorize it.“Are you sure it will work? What if the spell contains something that would make her condition worse? We cannot trust Lila.” Axel said.“I agree that we cannot trust Lila, but tha
