I appeared in the pack hospital, and the wounded soldiers I saw there broke my heart. I had to force back a tear as I was on a mission.

“Alpha King!” I tried to mind-link him, but he blocked it off.

“Alpha King, it is urgent!” I tried again, but it was to no avail.

“Dad!” I tried to mind-link him, but I got the same response. He blocked it off.

“Luna Queen!”

She blocked me off.

“Uncle Kade!”

The same thing.

“Uncle Tom!”

No response.

Frustration rose up my throat. I had to get to them, but they weren’t even allowing the mind-link. I couldn’t mind-link my mom because she was a full-blood witch. Witches weren’t gifted with the power to mind-link—only shifters were. The only person she could mind-link was her mate, my father, and that was because their souls had been intertwined.

“Who are you?” One of the soldiers suddenly raised his sword at me from behind.
