VIOLET

My parents picked me up from my dorm room and drove me to the hall where the birthday party was being held—the very last place I wanted to be.

“Violet, darling. How is your first day at school so far?” my mother asked on our way, looking at me expectantly.

“Good,” I simply replied.

She raised her brow. “And your roommate?”

“She’s perfect,” I told her, looking away and peering through the window, hoping she’d drop the conversation. I wasn’t interested in small talk at the moment. I still hated that I had to come to this school and was being forced to attend the birthday party of that boy!

“I trust you’ll blend in perfectly,” Father added.

“Sure.”

We arrived at the venue, and they positioned me between them as we entered. The hall was so huge, filled with overdressed students and their equally overdressed parents, all wearing the same plastic smiles as they mingled. I hated going to functions like this, and I specifically hated being at this particular one.

As we ventured further into the hall, my eyes caught sight of someone, and I froze. The ever-arrogant Alpha prince. My gaze shifted to the girl standing next to him, registering the position the two of them were in. His arms were curled around her shoulders, pulling her in tightly. A strange feeling settled in my chest, and I had the sudden urge to rush over and yank his arm away from her. I closed my eyes, shaking that feeling off. What was wrong with me?

The next time I opened my eyes, he was standing in front of me, gripping my arm and attempting to drag me away.

I quickly caught my arm, glaring at him. “What do you think you are doing?” I hissed.

His expression faltered, confusion clouding his features. “You don’t feel—” He stopped mid-sentence, sighing as though realizing something.

Without another word, he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me with him again. I tried to wrest my hand free, but I couldn’t. He was just too strong.

“Leave me alone!” I yelled.

“What do you think you’re doing?” My father’s voice boomed as he stormed over, yanking Axel’s grip from my arm.

Axel’s eyes glowed red as he turned to look at my father, staring at him intently without saying a word. I knew immediately that he was controlling his mind.

“Yes. You can leave with her.” My father’s face suddenly relaxed, and that was the scariest thing I had ever seen. Axel Northwood really had psychic abilities. Dangerous.

“Axel Northwood!” The commanding voice of the school’s principal, Alpha Richard, cut through the tension as he stepped between us, his expression a mix of authority and anger. “What did we say about using your psychic abilities on school premises?”

Axel’s jaw tightened as he focused on the principal, clearly trying to control him. But the principal merely shook his head, unaffected. “You know that won’t work. I have since learned how to block you out of my mind. You are suspended from playing lacrosse for one week!”

“What?!” Axel exclaimed, genuine despair saturating his features. “You can’t do that. I can’t stay away from playing for one whole week.”

“If you can’t, then you’d better stop breaking the rules!” the principal stated firmly. “Now, apologize to the Alpha King.”

Axel turned to look at my father, reluctantly muttering, “I’m sorry.”

But Father wasn’t even paying attention to him. I trailed his line of sight to see him exchanging heated glares with the Northern Alpha King, none other than Axel’s father. The two of them had a terrible history and were sworn enemies.

Many years ago, before I was born, my father had kidnapped the Northern Luna Queen, a.k.a. the Mother Wolf. He’d intended to keep her for himself and sire a powerful heir. But fortunately for her and unfortunately for him, the Northern Alpha King rescued his Luna, not without having a near-death fight with my father. And according to witnesses, my father had been defeated, and the humiliation had fueled his rage ever since. So, yes, they had a tragic past.

I wondered why my father wanted to be here for Axel’s birthday party, though.

Slowly, the two Alpha Kings moved toward each other, their gazes holding a promise of death. Silence reigned, the room burning with tension.

“Alpha Kings.” The principal stepped between them, darting his gaze between the two of them, saving the day. “We have children present.”

Immediately, the two of them snapped out of it, but the promise of death remained in their eyes. After an intense moment of exchanging glares, the Northern King growled, “It is not over.”

With that, he turned away and walked back to his Luna, holding her in his arms to ease his tension. A bond my parents never shared.

I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I thought they were going to tear each other apart right here and right now. I mean, they would’ve if the principal hadn’t intervened.

Music suddenly echoed through the room, breaking the tension as the crowd began to disperse. A hand grabbed mine, and before I knew it, Axel was pulling me toward the dance floor. Not wanting to cause another scene, I quietly followed him.

“Dance with me,” he said, grinning as if the events of the past few minutes hadn’t happened.

Sighing, I nodded in agreement. “Fine. Only because I don’t want to draw any more attention.”

Wrapping his arm around my waist, he pulled me closer, whispering into my ear, “When is your birthday?”

Heat rushed to the pit of my stomach, all the nerves in my body surprisingly dancing at his touch. “What? How is that your business?”

“It’s my business because...” He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he nuzzled the crook of my neck. “…you’re my mate. And since I can’t play lacrosse because of you, you’ll have to keep me entertained whenever I’m bored. All through the week.”

My eyes widened in shock as I pushed him away.

“What?” I managed to choke out, staring at him in disbelief. “Mate?”

This couldn’t be happening. My worst nightmare.

VIOLETMy heart beat erratically against my chest as the bangs on the door continued. I could’ve simply pretended that I wasn’t in here and stayed quiet, but my father would knock down that door if I didn’t open it now.Letting out a sharp, nervous breath, I rushed to the door and pulled it open. My father stood there, his eyes blazing with fury, his fangs protruding from his gums.“Have I not warned you to stay away from my daughter?!” he growled as he pushed past me, charging toward Axel. I quickly grabbed his arm to stop him, but he tossed me to the side until I landed on my butt.A loud growl erupted through his chest as his fist connected with Axel’s nose, breaking it instantly. Blood streamed down his nose, staining his white shirt. I quickly stood up and reached for Axel. He didn’t move or try to retaliate. He just stood there, his gaze remained pinned on him.“Son of a bastard!” my father growled as he tried to punch him again, but I grabbed his arm, stopping him.“Stop!” I g

AXELI scratched the back of my neck, trying to think of a lie to tell.“I am listening,” Zara urged with a hard frown when I wasn’t talking.“It’s kind of a family issue, Zara. Please don’t make me share,” I said, pressing my lips together. “And I’d appreciate it if you don’t tell the principal, please.”Alpha Richard would definitely expel me from the school if he learned of how I have been moving in and out of the school.“I don’t believe you.” She shook her head as she folded her arms across her chest. “Start talking, now!”“Zara,” I breathed, pressing my lips into a thin line. No one was supposed to know about Lila and everything that was going on. Until we found Nina or whoever Lila’s twin was, it had to remain a secret. But Zara wouldn’t let it go until I said something.I sighed heavily. “You are right. There is a reason I have been in and out of school, missing practices. It’s about the missing girls. We have been trying really hard to find them.”“That is the job of the Alp

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   84| Reject Her.

AXELI thought I could avoid this confrontation for a little longer, but all thanks to Lila, I had to face it now. Although I didn’t want my father to find out yet, I wasn’t going to deny Violet.“Do you care to explain what the hell is going on between you two?” Father growled, his rage boiling over.“There’s really nothing to explain. We both found out that we were mates, that's it,” I said with a sigh, afraid of what my dad would say next. I never expected him to approve our bond, but I hoped he would be a little understanding.“When?” he growled.“I found out on my birthday night, in that hall,” I revealed.“You both have no business being mates. Like, hell, what sort of terrible combination is that?” he groaned with annoyance. “You can’t be with her.”“Dad, please don’t ask me to reject her. Because I will not,” I retorted. Rejecting Violet wasn’t even an option. I have grown to love her. The connection was irresistible, and I was never letting her go.“It is forbidden. The both

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   83| Nina.

VIOLETI had sworn never to speak with Axel again after I found out that he was the anonymous blogger who posted that article about my dad. But here I was, kissing him like my life depended on it. I shouldn’t have given in that easily; I should’ve resisted. But I couldn’t. I tried to convince myself that I was in heat, hence why I wasn’t pushing him away, but that was a lie. I was well aware of what I was doing, even though I still couldn’t resist. I couldn’t control the moans that escaped my lips as he kissed and smooched my breast at the same time, making me so wet for him. I wanted him—all of him. Suddenly, his phone began to ring. He hesitated at first but later pulled away and looked at me apologetically before tugging his phone out of his pocket. I peeped at it to see that it was his father calling. “Hello,” he said when he answered it. I drifted my attention away, trying not to listen to their conversation. But when he suddenly exclaimed in shock and jerked to his feet, I

AXELEverything we thought we knew had all been a misconception. We had been looking for the wrong person. So who was the red-haired witch that was sighted around the time of the kidnappings?I pulled out my phone and dialed my dad’s number.“Axel. How are you doing today?” my dad’s voice sounded from the other end of the line.“Good,” I simply replied before going straight to the point. “Lila appeared to me again.”“What?” he growled. “Where? What did she say? Did she touch you?”I sighed. “I was in the woods running. And yes, she held my hands. But that is not the important thing right now. Lila is not the kidnapper. We have been looking for the wrong person.”“How do you know that?” “I read her mind,” I told him. “She also said she’s willing to meet with you to help with finding the kidnapper.”“When does she want to meet?” he asked.“She didn’t say. She just asked me to pass the information.”“I’d fucking kill her if I see her!” he growled with rage.“She’s willing to help, Dad,”

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   81| Public Ridicule.

AXELRage washed through me when I saw the flowers in Emmett’s hands. What did he think he was doing getting Violet flowers? Before I could stop myself, I stormed over and knocked the flowers out of his hands before punching his jaw.He staggered backward, holding his chin and glaring at me.“I’ll kill you!” he growled as he jumped at me and tried to punch me, but I dodged. I swiftly turned and gave him another powerful punch to the stomach.I was about to follow with another punch when Violet came between us and stretched her arms to keep us apart.“You guys, stop! Please!” she yelled, looking between us.“He started it. Why don’t you tell him to stop?!” Emmett growled.“If you hadn’t fucking brought flowers to my mate, I wouldn’t have punched you!” I retorted with rage.He scoffed. “If she was truly your mate, you wouldn’t have subjected her to public ridicule.”“What?” Violet snapped her gaze at him. “What do you mean?”“Oh, you didn’t know?” he chuckled bitterly. “Who do you thin

VIOLETThe following day, my alarm buzzed repeatedly, but I kept snoozing it. It took Daisy splashing water over my face before I could wake up.I groaned frustratedly, clutching my face in my hands. Now that I was back to school, I had to wake up early. How annoying! I dressed up in blue jeans and a pink tank top, slung my bag over my shoulders, and headed out for the day.As I walked through the hallways, I noticed people staring awkwardly at me, with hushed whispers flying all around me. I could hear it all. The insults, show of disgust, and mockery. It was then that I realized Daisy was right. I probably shouldn’t have resumed now. But going back to the pack was hell as well because I wouldn’t be able to look at my mother without bursting into tears every minute. My heart still ached terribly from what I saw yesterday. So, I had to choose my poison, and I chose to stay here... I had received several calls from my parents since yesterday, and I intentionally missed them all. I wasn

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   79| Peace and Normalcy.

VIOLET Beads of sweat coated my skin as I tried to catch my breath. Looking at Axel, my attraction towards him doubled, and I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around him and kiss him senselessly. Without even thinking about it, I flung my arms around him and pressed my lips to his.He pulled back instantly, placing both hands on my shoulders and looking at me with concern.“Are you okay?” he asked, scanning my face for answers.“Yes.” I pouted. “I just want you.”The feeling was different this time. Before, whenever my body started heating up, I would almost immediately faint. But right now, I was just downright horny. That made me wonder if it was really the hex that had returned—or if I was simply in heat.“Are you in heat?” Axel quickly asked.I didn’t reply to him before jamming my lips against his and pressing my body to his. This time, he didn’t stop me as he kissed me desperately, sucking the air out of me. His arms roamed around my body, causing tingles to spread all

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   78| Like Father, Like Daughter.

VIOLETI had feared this day would come—the day the world found out about my father’s involvement with Lila. But I never imagined the truth would be far worse than I anticipated. I thought he had dealings with her for selfish reasons, like acquiring that land’s documents or political gain. I never once believed he could be the mastermind behind the kidnappings.Where did these people get their information from? The possibility that it was true, that my father was not just an abuser, but also a kidnapper made a sharp excruciating pain pull on my chest.“The Southern Alpha King, Alpha King Silas Southerton, has been accused of orchestrating the kidnappings of the twelve missing girls. The credibility of this report has yet to be confirmed, as it was posted by a blogger whose identity remains unknown.”I clutched my head with both hands and let out a frustrated groan. The driver turned off the radio immediately, and this time, I didn’t stop him. My mind was reeling.Who was this anonymou
