34: Forbidden
Mia took a walk in the Palace garden and a guard stayed by her side because the alpha king was being extra careful. She had gotten closer to Robb in the past couple or weeks and Xavier didn’t like that. This was his way of playing the part of a good husband and keeping an eye on her. She made a promise to stick with their agreement until the end and she hoped to keep it. She wasn’t leaving, but the king didn’t know that and if he did; he didn’t believe it.
Xavier’s anxiety didn’t go away, particularly the one towards his father. Mia saw how much it affected him when everyone was away and the charade ended. He had happy days, but those days didn't last long.

The citadel crawled with alphas, elders and royals from all over the kingdom, and having the largest auditorium, it accommodated them all. Its lights shone brighter despite the night and banished every trace of darkness far away from the hall. Everyone appeared their best, glowing with outfits of bright colours and expensive. They knew how to throw a celebration. They seemed ready for what was to come. The lunar eclipse would set once it was midnight, so the feast officially took off three hours before then. Xavier took her hand and led her through the open pace and into the woods as the lunar eclipse moved to set. He wanted to move her to the highest ground, around where they would be on top of everything, with her beside him. He could hear it with the way her hearts pounded and blood raced through their veins and how alert his senses became. The ground beneath Mia’s feet felt lighter than ever, and her heart was racing.
