Xavier had sat at court when the head organisers deliberated on the best location for the feast. After hours, they chose the Citadel to celebrate the ascension of the alpha of alphas and the lunar shift. Robb’s position didn’t change Xavier’s title as Alpha King. The people still needed his opinions and approval on matters. The citadel had the build that could contain thousands of people and it had in the past. The citadel crawled with alphas, elders and royals from all over the kingdom, and having the largest auditorium, it accommodated them all. Its lights shone brighter despite the night and banished every trace of darkness far away from the hall. Everyone appeared their best, glowing with outfits of bright colours and expensive. They knew how to throw a celebration. They seemed ready for what was to come. The lunar eclipse would set once it was midnight, so the feast officially took off three hours before then. This way everyone present would get to meet, mingle and celebrate before the glorious Lunar shift. Xavier’s arms have been around Mia’s waist, unwilling to let go. Xavier emptied the wine in his cup into his mouth. He turned away from them, his teeth gritted, showing his fury. “We are leaving.” He said, coming to take her hand possessively. Mia’s eyes widened. “What? Why?" “Because I don’t want to be here anymore and I can’t stand spending another minute here.” “We will miss the lunar shift.” Her panic got the best of her as they brushed past those on their path and made their way out of the citadel. His low chuckle chilled her to the bones. “We will not. We just won’t be at the Citadel when it happens.” She almost facepalmed at his answer, knowing how dumb her question was. Xavier took her hand and led her through the open pace and into the woods as the lunar eclipse moved to set. He wanted to move her to the highest ground, around where they would be on top of everything, with her beside him. He could hear it with the way her hearts pounded and blood raced through their veins and how alert his senses became. The ground beneath Mia’s feet felt lighter than ever, and her heart was racing. She glimpsed the alpha king and watched the wind of the chilly night blow over his face and through his hair. She wanted to capture the moment, or at least pause it so she could run her fingers through it.
