AMY

His words were so comforting and promising that I was trying my best not to cry. Never has anyone promised to even be there for me.

Well, apart from myself, I have never had anyone in my path. I have never had someone looking out for me.

Everyone sees me as useless. They see me as the one who should be tied down and fed with a cane or used as the rag in the house.

The more he spoke, the more convinced I was that I might have found the one destined for me. The moon goddess wasn't wrong about this.

He wasn't the usual man or the alpha I had met before or had a crush on; he was the one for me.

I instantly hugged him and rested on his shoulder.

“Thank you! Charles!” I said it, and I meant it from my heart. I had nothing else to say to every other thing he had said, so I could only hug him and say thanks.

We were still hugging when the door suddenly swung open, and I immediately moved away from him and hid.

Charles was also shocked at how fast I moved away and was terrified. The door was opened with a certain force that I couldn't help but flinch at.

I have always known terror as my pal, so everything was still strange.

“Amy, it's fine. Everything is fine. Don't hide away! You are safe here! You are always safe here!” His calm voice reached me, and I humbly came out of my hiding spot.

He reached out to me and held my hand. “It was just my assistant opening the door. He is playful, so he was rough just now!” Charles slowly explained.

“You don't have anything to be afraid of! You are safe with me!” He continued, and I finally relaxed after his words and lifted my head to see what had really happened.

This action and my reaction made me realize something right now. I have been traumatized by everything that happened to me in the Dark Sun Pack.

I have not thought of this until now, but now it is very obvious. I have always flinched at the sound out of fear of who might be coming to hit me or beat me up.

My parents were a little violent, so everything resulted in beatings. Before they even knew what happened or the truth, I would have been their scapegoat.

After my episode with Mr. Colt, I was traumatized, constantly beaten in the street by people. I was locked up, and dirty stuff was thrown in my face a lot of times, and this created fear in me.

His wife, Tia, didn't look back as well. She was the one who did the most.

She stood under the disguise of being a widow, and I was the one who had killed her husband to torture me.

She made my life with her a living hell. I won't blame her; I was given to her by my parents as an atonement for my sins.

They made my life a day in the hands of demons. Every day will be a fresh and new trouble.

Flint was not even an exception. He hits me anytime he has the chance to. He just wanted to prove his power over me and my irrelevance to him, that he never holds back.

Not only because I am a slave but because I am a lady who was molested by his uncle. Well, what can I say? He is a man who has family blood running in his veins.

Rumor had it that his father was also a violent man when he was younger. 

“Danford, apologize to my woman. You scared her just now!” Charles said to the young man who had walked up to us.

“I am so sorry, Miss Amy. I haven't gotten used to the fact that you are here with us. I had opened the door like that because it was an inside joke between me and the Alpha.

I didn't mean to scare you; accept my apologies!” He said, and I looked at him.

He was bowing his head in a ninety-degree form as he was in front of us. I could tell he was sorry for what had happened.

He is more terrified of me than the Alpha, or what?

“It is fine. I should adjust to these things. I am so sorry I flinched!” I said, and Charles held my hand.

“You don't have to be sorry; he was wrong to have opened the door like that. And I will make sure I don't allow such a thing to happen again.” He said, and I looked at the poor guy who was still standing there, bowing his head.

I tapped Charles to allow him to, but he was focused on me. “Are you sure you are fine?” he said, and I nodded.

“I am fine. I also have to get used to noises. Things are not the way they used to be, I have to be fine before I make everyone uncomfortable!” I said, and he shook his head.

“You can't make everyone uncomfortable. You can adjust at your own pace, but we should also learn to compromise as well.” He said, and I was touched by how he thinks.

He is really trying his best to make everything so perfect for me, and I have never thought I would see a man who does such things for me.

“You might think I am trying to be unfair to them and side with you to win you over, but I am doing the best thing,” he said, and I sighed.

“Okay!” I said, and he turned to the assistant.

“What is this about? Be fast, I still have to speak to my wife!” He said, and Danford looked up at him.

“Mr. Charles, don't get ahead of yourself; she is just your mate, not yet your wife!” Danford said, and I was surprised at how friendly they were to each other.

They are related as friends now rather than as superiors.

“I can see you have nothing to say; get out of my office!” Charles replied to him, and I laughed. 

Who would have imagined that the king, Lycan, is so easygoing?
