LOGINOnce they reached the palace, Kai looked deeply into her eyes.
"I enjoyed our lunch and hope we’ll start spending more time together," he said.
She nodded in response. Butterflies danced in her stomach, but she was also mad at herself. She was usually brave and smart, but when it came to romance—something she wasn’t used to—she acted like a teenager, blushing and barely saying a word.
They parted ways—Kai rushed to interrogate a captured rogue, while Darina headed to the clinic to assist with the injured.
Camilla met Darina in the clinic. "Four wolves brought in—nothing serious. Mostly surface wounds and one with a fractured rib.”
Darina slightly nodded “Let me see them.”
Moments later — Darina moved from patient to patient, layed her hands gently. Wounds began to close with a soft glow. The room growed quiet.
Camilla watched closely, astonished. “I’ll never get used to that. You don’t stitch, you don’t clean—you just touch, and it’s done. You’ve just saved me hours of work.”
Darina grinning shyly. “I am always happy to help.”
“You know, we should hang out sometime outside the clinic. Maybe a girls’ night? No patients, no pressure. Just wine and laughter.”
“I’d like that.”
“Perfect. I’ll text you a date. I have to run back to work now. See you soon. "
As Darina stepped out of the clinic, she bumped into grining Reed.
"Hello, Luna. You keep impressing me more and more. First, by kicking ass of our prince on training grounds, after by winning hearts of pack members and now doing your healing magic"
Darina smiled timidly and asked, "Carol is nagging me for a run, but I’m still unfamiliar with the borders. Care to join me?"
"My pleasure, Luna."
Darina undressed behind a tree, folding her clothes neatly in a pile, then shifted. Reed was already waiting in his large, dark brown wolf form. When Coral emerged from the treeline, he bolted—and she followed. They raced through the forest, playfully nipping and pushing one another.
Carol enjoyed her freedom, high-spirited after her first date with her chosen mate.
After the run, Darina shifted back behind the same tree and dressed. Just as she was fastening her jumsuit, she heard two familiar voices drifting from the nearby garden.
"So, Kai must really like his arranged bride if he invited her on a date," said Larissa.
"Don’t believe everything you see," Jackie replied smugly. "He’s head over heels in love with me. His father’s just pushing him to spend time with his plain Jane bride, but it means nothing. In the end, he’ll always come back to me. Mark my words, I will be the Luna Queen."
The words stung. Darina's heartbeat increased. Was he really just pretending? Just being polite because he had to?
She dressed and walked out to Reed.
"Do you know where Kai is? I want to talk to him. "
"We finished the interrogation. He went to his room to shower and rest."
"In that case, I’ll talk to him tomorrow. I need a shower too—long day," she said with a weak smile.
In her room, she immediately went to the shower. Warm water flowed down her body, but it didn’t ease her tension. Jackie’s words kept echoing in her mind, each one tightening the knot in her chest. She dried herself quickly, slipped into a long ivory sundress, and decided she couldn’t wait. She needed to know the truth now.
Just as she stepped into the hallway, she spotted Jackie. The woman was dressed provocatively—deep cleavage - displying her full breasts, skin-tight black dress, sky-high heels, and full makeup. Darina watched in silent disbelief as Jackie entered Kai’s room without knocking.
She froze.
So Jackie's words were true. Kai had just been pretending. He was still seeing Jackie, and now they would probably both have a good laugh about how stupid and naive Darina was for believing that Kai truly started to care about her.
The hurt hit fast and hard. But at least she’d seen it now—before getting too attached. Without another word, she turned around and returned to her room, determined to focus on what she came for to improve the werewolf community. How stupid she was to let useless romantic feelings occupy her.
Meanwhile, Kai stepped out of the shower, only to stop cold. Jackie was sprawled across his bed in a dress that left very little to the imagination. "What are you doing here?" he asked in disbelief.
"I missed you. You didn’t come, so I came to you," she purred. "I’ve been thinking about your touch all day."
She stood, exposing more of herself, and began walking toward him with a sway in her hips and licking her lips, “I want to taste every inch of you.”
He stepped back. "Jackie, I’m not in the mood."
She took his hand, guiding him to touch her body. "I’m going to make you lose your mind tonight. Feel how wet I am for your already”. His eyes flashed gold as Blake took control.
"Leave. Now," Blake growled.
Jackie stopped, stunned. "What? How dare you are to speak to me like that? You’re just throwing me away after four years?"
"LEAVE," Roared Blake.
"I am royal beta's daughter, not some cheap toy to play and toss to the garbage. You are going to pay for this," she hissed before storming out, slamming the door behind her.
"I tolerated her, but never truly liked her," Blake growled. "But now she’s crossed a line."
"It’s over. I hope she finally got the message," Kai muttered.
"I doubt it. Jealous women bring nothing but trouble. Watch her."
However, Kai's thoughts were already elsewhere. Jackie wasn't longer mattered. He couldn't stop thinking about Darina, her curiosity, her laugh, and the way her eyes glowed when she spoke of healing and pups.
She is not what he anticipated. She is so much more.
He was genuinely looking forward to something for the first time in a long time, even though he wasn't sure what it was yet.
Unaware that everything had already begun to fall apart just down the hall.
Kai was pacing in the hospital room as Darina was taken to the operating theatre. He didn’t hear the cooing voices of his dad, Barbara, and Amber, who were rocking his two pups. Everything around him was a blur—only the loud drum of his heartbeat echoed in his ears. He was terrified. What if his mate and daughter didn’t make it? No. That wasn’t possible. She had been through war, crossed realms, and survived his curse. She couldn’t die giving birth. The Moon Goddess couldn’t be that cruel. His father placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to stop him from pacing restlessly. “Son, she’ll be alright. Come, spend time with your newborn pups.” “How could he be so sure?” thought Kai, while Blake howled in his head, sick with worry for their mate. “Did you name your babies?” asked Amber, trying to distract Kai, hiding her own anxiety. “The girl’s name is Mila, and the boy’s Kyle,” he said bluntly. Suddenly, Camilla entered, carrying a tiny bundle in her arms. A baby girl opened
Sometimes, it’s good to be wrong. And Darina was actually happy that her feeling of an upcoming storm turned out to be nothing more than the awkwardness of finally being at peace — learning to adjust to a new reality. Time flew by, and soon, Luna Elena welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world, whom she named Delilah. “She looks like you,” Kai said with a smile, glancing at Darina’s sister. “Hope she’ll be brave and smart like her big sister,” said Alpha Claus, taking his baby girl into his arms and gently rocking her. “Soon, we’ll have our own miracle,” Colin said, caressing Jackie’s still-flat stomach. “Are you expecting a pup?” Darina and Kai asked in unison. “Yes,” Jackie beamed. “Soon, Dariel, Delilah, and Larisa’s pups will have a playmate. I said before that I wouldn’t start a family until I’d taken my business to the next level. And thanks to you and Amber — after you both visi
Darius inhaled deeply and began, “Our parents were killed during a rogue attack. My sister Helena was seventeen; I was thirteen. She took care of me like a mother, even though she was grieving. She was strong, beautiful, and kind.At eighteen, she met her mate—the gamma’s son, our pack’s future gamma. Within a year, she was pregnant. I was fifteen then, already tall and broad-shouldered from training every day. The Luna of our pack took a liking to me. She was twenty-five years older. I was waiting for my mate. She drugged me and r*ped me. But that wasn’t the worst part. Afterwards, she wanted me to come to her willingly. When I refused, she showed me how cruel she could be. She gave my sister to a group of ten rogues to r*pe while four warriors held me down and made me watch.”Darina and Amber gasped in shock while Lily squeezed his hand, her nails digging into his skin. Everyone at the table went utterly still—no one even dared to breathe. Alaric’s jaw clenched, fury flashing in his
The wedding lasted three days, so the next morning began with a beautiful breakfast in the garden.Darina and Kai were walking toward the tables when they bumped into Maya and Ludwing. Their hands were locked, and it looked like Maya was trying to yank hers free, but Ludwing kept his grip tight.“No mates, huh?” teased Darina.“Sometimes we convince ourselves we don’t want something just because we don’t have it. I was sure I didn’t want a mate,” Maya said, softly giggling. “But Ludwing changed my mind.” She looked at him playfully, and he returned her affectionate gaze.Darina mindlinked Kai, “Who would’ve imagined that the cold-hearted seer and the witch afraid of commitment could become such a charming couple?”Kai just smiled.“I’m happy for both of you,” said Darina, and Kai nodded in agreement. They left the happy couple behind and continued toward the garden.“Looks like Cupid had his hands full these days,” j
Darius closed his eyes. The image of Lily appeared in his mind. She looked breathtaking in her strapless wedding ballgown—a vision of lace, tulle, and delicate beadwork that shimmered with every step. Her sleek updo, jewelled tiara, and soft makeup highlighted her rare lilac eyes, completing a look both regal and ethereal. His heart clenched, seeing Alaric’s hands wrapped possessively around her waist. Darius saw their first dance, the cutting of the cake. Every smile Lily gave Alaric, every glance, every kiss was like a dagger to his heart. But there was no one to blame but himself. He had pushed her away, chasing revenge instead of holding on to his love. The wedding reception ended, and the newlywed couple left for their chambers. Darkness crept through Darius’s vision. A terrible pain split his head; the world tilted, spun—and then went still. When he opened his eyes again, he froze. His
Alaric turned, looked at the crowd, then back at Lily. His voice was strong and steady, echoing through the walls of the large wedding hall.“I’ve loved you, Lily, since the moment you were born. The moment your mom let me hold that tiny bundle of joy with lilac eyes, a special bond formed—at least from my side. I patiently waited for you to finally see me, to love me, to be ready for our relationship. And the moment you agreed to marry me was the happiest moment of my life.”He paused. Lily was staring at him, not even blinking. A tear slipped down her mother’s cheek—she was deeply moved, knowing how much Alaric truly loved her daughter. The guests were still silent, waiting.“Before I make an announcement, Lily, just answer one question—do you truly love me?” he asked softly.Lily’s eyes widened, her lips parting and trembling. It was such a simple question, yet it caught her completely off guard. All her life, she had loved Darius. She’d waited for
