Chapter 16

Eleanor's POV

`

I leave my parents' house early the next morning. I barely sleep. Every time I close my eyes, Dad's words replay inside my head. We are werewolves. The Supernaturals. The Armageddon War. You're awakening. And then the words that still make my stomach twist every time I think about them. You're a vampire too.

I grip the steering wheel as I drive back toward campus. The road stretches ahead of me, but my mind is somewhere else entirely. I thought I knew my family.

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me   I want all of you

Chapter 34 Eleanor’s POV My mind was a storm I couldn’t outrun. Thoughts crashed into one another half formed questions about my wolf, about the strange new instincts clawing under my skin, about who I even was anymore. Everything felt too loud, too sharp, too much. The bond sat heavy in my chest, a constant pulse that refused to be ignored. And right in the middle of all that chaos, one name kept rising to the surface. Ethan. My mate. The boy I might already be in love with. I was still staring at the ceiling of my apartment when my phone buzzed. I grabbed it like it was a lifeline. **Ethan:** What are you doing? **Me:** Nothing much. How about you? **Ethan:** Going for an evening run. Wanna join? My heart did something stupid and hopeful. **Me:** Yes. I didn’t even hesitate. I threw on black running shorts that sat high on my hips and a sports bra that left almost nothing to the imagination, yanked my hair into a messy ponytail, and was out the door before I could ov

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me    The Awakening

Chapter 33 Unknown POV The night was unusually quiet. Too quiet. The narrow alley sat between two abandoned buildings, hidden from the busy streets beyond it. A single flickering light hung above the entrance, casting weak shadows across the cracked pavement. One by one, figures appeared. They didn't arrive together. They came separately, keeping their distance until they reached the center of the alley. There were six of them. Six people who had no reason to trust one another, yet had gathered for the same reason. Eleanor Bale. The last person arrived several minutes late. He walked into the alley wearing a dark coat, his face partially hidden beneath the hood. Everyone turned toward him. "You're late." "I had to make sure I wasn't followed." The tallest figure stepped forward. "Are you sure?" The man nodded. "No one followed me." Silence settled over them again. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Then a woman standing near the wall finally broke the silence. "She's awakening." T

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me    The Heir's Burden

Chapter 32 Ethan's POV I couldn't stop thinking about Eleanor. Even after dropping her back at the dorm, I sat in my car for several minutes before finally driving away. The entire evening kept replaying in my mind. Her smile when she saw the restaurant, the way she laughed at my terrible jokes, the arguments we had about movies and sports, and the way we had both completely embarrassed ourselves singing along to music in my car. It had been the most amazing night I'd had in a long time. And somehow, it had felt effortless. Eleanor made everything feel effortless. I leaned back against my seat and sighed. My wolf stirred inside me. You should have kissed her. I frowned. "Not now." She is our mate. "I know." Then why did you leave? I couldn't help smiling. "Because I'm trying to be a gentleman." My wolf gave what felt like an annoyed growl. I understood him. Every part of me had wanted to stay with Eleanor longer. When she opened the car door and looked back at me before walkin

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me   The Girl With a Mate

Chapter 31 Eleanor's POV Ethan still wasn't picking up his phone. I had called him twice already. Nothing. I stared at my screen for a few seconds before sighing and putting my phone away. Maybe he was busy. Maybe something had come up. Or maybe he was just terrible at checking his phone. Either way, I had spent enough time wondering about it. I had just gotten back from school, and all I wanted was to get to my dorm, find Amaya, and tell her everything about last night. Because if there was one person who had been waiting for this story, it was definitely Amaya. The moment I opened our dorm room door, I found her sitting on her bed with her laptop open. She looked up. Then her eyes immediately widened. "You're back!" I dropped my bag beside my bed. "Yeah." She closed her laptop. "Okay, sit down." I laughed. "Why?" "Because I have been waiting all day." "For what?" She stared at me like I had just asked the stupidest question imaginable. "Your date!" I burst out laughing. "Ama

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me   The Call He Didn't Answer

Chapter 30 —Eleanor's POV I woke up with a smile on my face. I didn't even need to open my eyes to know why. Last night kept replaying in my mind. The conversation, the laughter, the way the evening had somehow passed much faster than I wanted it to. I'd had an amazing time with Ethan. And apparently, my brain had decided it wanted to remember every little moment. I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling. "Seriously?" Nyla stirred inside me. You're thinking about him again. "I just woke up." Exactly. I smiled despite myself. There was something about Ethan that I couldn't explain. I had known him for such a short time, yet being around him felt natural. Comfortable. Like I didn't have to pretend to be anyone else. I reached for my phone and checked the time. Morning had already arrived. I sat up slowly and ran a hand through my hair. Amaya was still asleep across the room. I looked at her and smiled. After everything I'd told her, things between us hadn't changed. If anything, I

  • The Alpha That Rejected Me   The Perfect Date

Chapter 29 Eleanor's POV I couldn't stop thinking about Ethan. Not for five minutes. Not for ten. All day, my mind kept finding its way back to him and the date we had planned. My mate. The word still felt strange whenever I thought about it. Ethan was the person Nyla had told me was connected to me in a way I still didn't completely understand. Yet somehow, every time I was around him, everything felt different. And tonight, I was going to spend an entire evening with him. Just the thought made it almost impossible to concentrate. I sat in Economics class staring at the professor while my notebook remained almost completely empty. "Miss Bale?" I looked up quickly. "Yes?" The professor raised an eyebrow. "Would you like to share your thoughts with the class?" A few students laughed. I glanced down at my notebook and realized I'd been drawing random little shapes beside the date written at the top of the page. "No, Professor." "Then perhaps you could return to the lesson." "Absolu
