I Told You So

I think that I have just died and gone to Vampire hell.

I am far too scared to turn around and face the man that is behind me. Now, which way shall I go? There is the incredible urge in me to just head on forward and run away, leave Roberto and Anastasia to deal with him. To be honest, it is their big mouths that got us standing here. I can now kick myself for listening to my reckless brother and my restless wife.

Needless to say, I opt to turn around and not act like a coward.

"Ethan, Connor, it is good to see you fellows again."

Connor clears his throat rather loudly and steps forward with a rather large dagger in his hand. "Now, what did we discuss about the no hunting thing?"

"It truly is not my fault," I try to explain. "It is my dear brother and wife's fault."

I stand and watch as Ethan bursts out in laughter, "God, don't tell me there are two of you?"

"Well, you shall be glad to know that he is far worse than me."

"How on earth does that make things better," Ethan only but shakes his head.

For a few minutes, we stand in nervous, uncomfortable silence. I can almost for sure say that Connor is thinking about what he can do to me. Yet, he firms his voice, "Please tell me how you lose a Vampire."

"That, my dear Connor, you will have to ask Edward. Anastasia and me were in Scotland."

"Ah, are you the Vampire that went on a bit of a rampage there, killing three in one night?"

My head snaps to Robert, and he only grins at me. Connor looks from Roberto to me and only shakes his head. "I see both of you are going to be a problem. Now since you are here, where do we find this damn boy?"

"We were just on our way inside to see if the elder is alive."

Ethan looks at me with a dead clear look in his eyes, "Sorry."

"Well, that makes it nine to go."

Just as I am about to suggest that we kept split up away from the boys, Connor pulls me by the collar and drags me to his car. I have always loved it, but never did I want to be stuck in it with two very angry Hunters. But without any fuss, I follow him, and he shoves me in the back.

As we pull off to the next house, he looks at me in the rearview mirror, "You do know that they are all going to be dead?"

"Perhaps not Claudia."

"Who is Claudia?"

"She does not live at her recorded address, so I believe that he has not found her yet."

Ethan sighs and grunts out aloud, "Perfect, how do you find a damn Vampire?"

I only but chuckle at him and point out the very obvious, "Is that not what you do?"

Connor takes his one hand off the steering wheel and reaches over to the back…and WHAM. He smacks me right against the head, "Let us just check the other eight. But, if he has killed them all, well, what is there left?"

Without waiting for anyone to answer, Connor laughs and answers his own question, "I know who the next oldest Vampire is."

"My friend, I did not know you gave up your Hunter job to become a clown. And guess what, I have you all to protect me."

"Who says I am going to protect you. And in any case, the child is just a boy."

"Yes, that I do know, but do I need to remind you who his father was?"

"We will see when the time comes; let us just hope that it does not."

After frustrating me for nearly fifteen minutes, we reach the eighth Vampire's house. Connor and Ethan exit just as fast as they entered.

That leaves us with seven.

Seven…six…five…four…three…two…they are all dead. From decapitation to limbs ripped apart. Every single elder in London has met the end of their lives. We only have one Vampire left, whom I personally have never sat right with. The man is obnoxious, and he does not live by the Vampire Code. Yet, that does not mean that the man deserves to die.

Now the only other problem with this man is, well, where he lives. The place that he calls his home is in some damn broken down house in the worst part of the city. Not really the worst part; it is that it is an area that is in total ruins, and it is well-known as an area where these gangs operate. Going into this area is practically asking to be killed.

So as I inform the boys of our destination, they look at me with eyes that can clearly shoot daggers. Ethan believes that Stefan shall not venture in such a place at his young age, while I am fairly sure that he will. The boy is on a mission, and he shall not stop until he can possess that power. I still do not understand what power he wishes to possess, for all Vampires have the same enormous physical strength and, of course, the ability to heal. Perhaps I do possess more power, but nobody apart from the family of the Belmont House knows.

We find ourselves entering the beginning of a very long and dark road. There are no streetlights, and these buildings have not seen the light in years. There is rubble scattered all over the road, which causes Connor to dodge piles of bricks all over the place. Somewhere in the distance is a howling dog, and you can see movement within the buildings themselves.

To reach this Vampire's home, we need to travel the entire distance of this road, and it shall be off on the right and then with a sharp left. The only aim is to make it down there untouched and to come back faster than we got there in the first place.

I truly hope that Stefan is not there, for this is the last place where I wish to have a battle with the boy. And that is another question to be asked, who shall be the one that brings the boy's life to an end. I guess it shall be me as the Vampire Master. Never did I quite think I will need to kill a child, even if he is a Vampire.

With this in mind, I turn to Connor to hear what his plan is; this has now become this man's show, "So, my dear friend, what is the plan?"

"We are using you as bait."

I nearly choke as my words come out as a blurt, "Bait? Why on earth do I need to be the bait?"

"Because you are the stupid one that was told not to go hunting again. And like I said, you are the next oldest."

"But," I hesitate for a brief moment. "What about you guys?"

"We are going to park down the road, and you shall walk further on to the house."

"Yes, if one of these gangsters do not kill me first."

Connor breaks out in a burst of uncontrollable laughter, "Don't tell me the Vampire Master is afraid of a little boy and a silly man with a gun."

"No, me, never. I just do not wish to mess up my designer suit."

"Ya, about that. Who goes hunting in a suit?"

I snap at him rather irritatingly, "I did not expect my brother to come to drag me into this nonsense. Now let us get this over; I want to go back to a normal life."

"Ha!" Connor exclaims, "Sebastian Belmont, normal? Have you forgot that little thing about your legacy?"

"Well, if someone can tell me what it is supposed to be, then I shall decide if I wish to entertain it."

"That, my dear Vampire Master, you shall have to figure it out yourself, and god, please don't let it be something that involves me."

"Oh, please shut it, take me for bait. This place is starting to creep me out."

So much to my horror, they drop me off a kilometer from this house. That they do not understand that I am really afraid of facing any of these gangsters, irritates me a bit. Stefan and the elder I can handle, put someone pumping bullets into the perfect muscled chest will completely infuriate me.

While I am walking, I count my steps down, which I am assuming would make up the distance that I need to travel. The dark, with should not be a problem, does seem to start to work on me now. There are corners where anything and anyone can hide. Even entering the property, if that is what you can call it, but if you enter the elder's gate, it is at least another five hundred meters to the house. There too, is a whole room of trouble waiting to happen.

With all of this in mind, I start to pick up the pace; I soon find my way by the front gate of the property. But just as I step inside, my body drops.
