Chapter 3

Author: No More Waiting
At the gates of the estate, Daisy feigned surprise. "But… what about Alicia?"

Rex's gaze flickered briefly, then hardened again. "She hurt you so deeply. And now she's chosen this pathetic downward spiral instead of coming back. This is her punishment."

"Why?" My voice trembled with anger. I stood there, drenched, in front of everyone.

"Is that Alicia?"

"It's really her? I thought she would be too embarrassed to show up."

"Please, she was exiled and didn't even flinch. You really think she's worried about being embarrassed?"

"To think he raised a slut who seduces her own brother-in-law and frames her sister. Elder Jaxon must be rolling in his grave."

I froze on the spot.

Rex yanked me under an umbrella. "If you're hurt, stay at the healing center. What are you doing here?"

I shook him off and squared up. "Why are you giving the estate to her? I'm the family's biological daughter, while she's just adopted. What right does she have—"

A loud smack echoed, and my cheek flared with a sudden, stinging heat. I covered my face and stared at Rex in disbelief.

He stood in front of Daisy, shielding her. "Your father entrusted both of you to me before he died. Daisy has never been an outsider to me! You've framed her too many times. You don't deserve to be Elder Jaxon's daughter. What right do you have to oppose this?"

At that moment, everything felt absurd.

I remembered when Daisy first joined the pack at ten years old. I had offered her a toy, which she ignored. But the moment I turned away, she fell down the stairs.

"Alicia, why did you push me? Do you not like me?"

Dad trusted me. But from that day on, her tears became the sharpest weapon.

Mom would lose her necklaces, and Dad's vase would get broken by accident. Every time, she looked pitiful, and I couldn't explain myself.

But no matter what, Rex had always stood by me. "I know Alicia better than anyone. She would never do that. She has a bit of a temper, sure, but I'm the one who spoiled her, and I'm happy to keep doing it."

I had naively believed that Rex would protect me forever.

"You've disappointed me."

His cold figure slowly overlapped with the memory of the werewolf I thought would be my lifelong guardian.

For a moment, I froze.

"Alicia, this is your last chance. Apologize to Daisy, and I'll still have your back."

I looked at their intertwined hands and laughed. "No thanks. Give me the 100 grand, and we're done."

Silence fell like a blade.

Rex's gaze turned dangerous as he ground his teeth at me. "What did you say?"

For a brief instant, he seemed stunned by my stubborn gaze, as if he had lost something.

"Alicia!"

Noticing something was off, Daisy ran forward and fell to her knees before me.

"Blame me! It's my fault I came into this family. Everything is my fault! I don't want the estate. I'll leave today and return everything to you!" she screamed through her tears and dashed into the pouring rain.

But then a car came out of nowhere and struck her.

"Daisy!" Rex ran toward her at once.

When he saw the blood pooling under her, his voice changed. "Healer! Get an ambulance! Now!"

He glared at me. "Restrain her now! If anything happens to Daisy, she won't get away with it!"

I watched as Rex looked at me with a murderous glare, and a cold, derisive smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth.

I'd been through this scene before.

The werewolf who had trusted me unconditionally had died three years ago.

But I was no longer the same Alicia from back then.

A month later, at the Northern pack, the sunlight over the snowfields was sharp and bright.I stood at the castle gates, watching the workers carry in the last boxes of my belongings. The estate was back in my hands, but I didn't move in immediately.Too many memories lingered there—good and bad—and they needed time to settle.Kieran told me not to rush and take my time.So I stayed in the north. I trained every day alongside the Northern pack warriors, picking up the boxing Kieran had taught me as a child. Now, I wasn't fighting to survive. I was fighting to grow stronger.Daisy's sentence came down. She was exiled permanently.I heard that on the day she was taken away, she never stopped screaming insults at me until she was shoved into the prison cart.Rex was stripped of his Alpha status. Before stepping down, he held a pack meeting and publicly read the full truth."I have failed the pack. I have failed Alicia, and I have failed my duties as the Alpha."In the end, he s

Daisy trembled. The last traces of color drained from her face.Rex's eyes were fixed on her. "What do you mean?"Kieran played another video. The footage showed Daisy outside a private hospital in the neutral zone, handing a bag to a person in a white coat. The person took the bag, counted the cash, and disappeared into the hospital.Kieran said, "This was three months ago. Daisy, you bribed the doctor to falsify records, creating the illusion of a pregnancy. That bag contained the fake test results."Rex's face turned progressively paler.Kieran continued coldly, "You weren't pregnant at all. That day, when you threw yourself in front of a car at the estate entrance, the blood was fake. You had a blood bag hidden under your clothes the whole time."The hospital cameras show that after being taken to the ER, you pulled the bag from your pocket, smeared the blood on yourself, and screamed about a miscarriage. You claimed the pup was Rex's, saying he mistook you for Alicia three

Daisy's face turned pale at once. "W-What do you mean?"Kieran looked at her coldly. He pulled out his phone and played a video. The screen displayed clear records from the pack's forum three years ago. The IP address, login times, and the account used to upload the photos all pointed to one name—Daisy.Kieran said, each word deliberate, "You fabricated those so-called intimate photos from three years ago yourself. You hired someone to take the pictures, uploaded them to the forum, and then blamed Alicia, claiming she was jealous and scheming behind your back."Rex froze. "What?""That's impossible!" Daisy shrieked. "She uploaded those photos! She bribed a stranger—""A stranger?" Kieran interrupted and played another clip."I found him. He's a Rogue. Three years ago, you paid him to take the photos. You told him it was just a few shots to upset Alicia."In the video, a Rogue sat with his head bowed, his face a mask of pure terror. He said, "It was Ms. Daisy. She gave me money

Rex trembled all over as he stared at me. "Alicia, are you really staying with him?"I looked at him and thought of the werewolf who had pushed me off a cliff three years ago, of myself, bloodied and broken in the fighting ring, and of him at the estate gates, holding Daisy's hand and saying, "She's the lady of this place.""Rex," I said softly, "it's been over between us for years."He seemed to have all his strength drained as he staggered backward.Kieran raised a hand, and a few warriors stepped forward to "escort" him out.The hall fell silent. I stared at the fireplace, suddenly feeling exhausted.A hand rested lightly on my shoulder.Kieran said softly, "If you're tired, go rest. I'll go with you to reclaim the estate tomorrow."I nodded and began walking upstairs. At the staircase, I remembered something and turned back.Kieran stood before the fireplace. The dancing flames cast a warm glow across his profile. He looked both gentle and unshakable. He seemed to have b

The Northern pack's territory lay deep within a frozen wilderness. We drove all night.By dawn, we entered a valley surrounded by towering pines. Ahead stood a massive wooden castle."We're here," Kieran said as he stopped the car.The moment I stepped out, the cold air hit me, carrying the scent of pine and snow.Kieran stood beside me. "Welcome to the Northern pack. From now on, this is your home too."Home?I hadn't had a home in three years. At the castle gates, two lines of werewolf warriors stood at attention. When they saw Kieran, they bowed in unison. "Alpha Kieran."Kieran nodded, then took my hand and led me into the castle. The great hall was warm, with a fireplace burning steadily. An elderly werewolf with white hair approached us. He introduced himself as Aldrich Spencer, the butler."Alpha Kieran, the guest room is ready."He turned and smiled at me kindly. "Ms. Alicia, please let me know if you need anything."I thanked him and followed a maid upstairs. My

At a barbecue place in the neutral zone, I kept my head down and ate, while Kieran watched quietly from across the table."Slow down. No one's taking it from you," he said, sliding a glass of water over.I looked up, my mouth full of meat, and mumbled, "How do you have my dad's will?"Kieran fell silent for a moment. "He came to see me before he passed."I froze."He knew he didn't have much time left, so he gave me the will and asked me to hand it to you after you came of age."Kieran's gaze turned complicated. "He just didn't expect that to happen before I could get back.""What happened?" I set my fork down.Kieran looked at me, his eyes brimming with a deep, aching tenderness."My dad was attacked, throwing the Northern pack into chaos. He was ambushed and left in a coma. I had to go back immediately and take over. I didn't even have time to say goodbye."After a pause, he continued, "I thought I'd be back soon, but it took three years.
