Sixteen years later…
Lily stood before the towering building, her heart pounding with excitement and nerves. The skyscraper was a marvel of modern architecture, with gleaming glass and steel rising into the sky. As she took in the impressive sight, the wind whipped her waist-length black hair around her face. She felt the fabric of her clothes rippled waves that trickled her skin.
Lily's heart raced as she approached the imposing entrance of Moore Enterprises, double-checking the address on her phone to ensure she had the right place. As she approached the reception desk, Lily announced her appointment and waited for further instructions. A friendly woman greeted her and confirmed that she was expected. Lily was then directed towards the elevator bank, where she waited nervously for the car to arrive.
As soon as the doors opened, a harried-looking man rushed out, nearly colliding with Lily as she stepped inside. She recognized him as one of the executives she had seen in the company's online profile. Lily pressed the button for the 13th floor, feeling a surge of excitement and anxiety as the elevator began to ascend.
Lily reached the top floor and stepped into a sleek and modern reception area. The friendly receptionist directed her towards Mr. Forest's office, which was adorned with tasteful art and comfortable furnishings. She knocked on the door, and a hoarse voice invited her inside.
"Good morning, Mr. Forest. My name is Lily Brook. I applied for the job and was asked to come in today," she said politely.
"Please have a seat, Miss Brook," he replied. "Mr. Moore is running a bit behind, but I believe you will be a good fit for the position. However, before he arrives, it's important to make you aware of who you are working for. Blake is very particular when it comes to his office, and that includes entering his office when he did not call. He is also particular with his office rules and preferences, which he will personally deliver to you."
"He will be back to his office soon, so let's move there now and I will show you your workspace. Do you have any questions?"
"None for now, Mr. Forest. Thank you for the opportunity to work in this company," Lily responded with a smile.
"Alright then, welcome to the company, Miss Brook!" Mr. Forest stood up and extended his right hand to shake hers. As she stood up, Lily felt a sense of reassurance emanating from him and thought he seemed like a good person. This job could be her chance to turn her career around.
Following Mr. Forest down the corridor, they arrived at Lily's desk, situated near a glass wall with a view of the city below and in the distance, a beautiful panorama where the full view of the Nashville National park is in its grandeur. She took a quick glance around and realized that she wouldn't have to leave to print or fax. Mr. Forest then pointed towards a door and spoke, "That's Mr. Moore's office. Remember, he's very particular about his workspace. Don't enter unless he calls for you."
Lily nodded in acknowledgement and silently read the inscription on the door: CEO Blake Moore. As she settled into her chair, Lily couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with a healthy dose of trepidation. She was determined to do her best and make this job work.
About an hour later…
Blake strode into his office, the heels of his shoes tapping on the polished hardwood floor. He was a little surprise to find Forest and the woman he saw down in the ground floor. Forest smiled when he saw him. Lily stood up and greeted the big man of the Moore Enterprises with a smile. Blake just nodded her way and thank Mr. Forest. Forest patted Lily on the shoulder and went back to his office. Blake motioned Lily to follow him to his office. As he made his way to his desk, he could feel a wolf's presence behind him, and wondered what this she-wolf business that brought her here. He turned to face her and read her aura. She looked very familiar to him, but he cannot connect her where she meet her. This one cannot be one of the secret community for he would have known her. The community is not that large to miss one. He must find out. "Miss Brook, I understand you've already been briefed, but I like to make sure that my employees understand my expectations clearly. The rules here are strict, and I expect them to be followed to the letter," he said, his voice low and commanding.
Lily nodded, her eyes locked on Blake's face. She had heard stories about this man, about how ruthless he could be with his employees mistake when it comes to his rules, and she was determined to make a good impression. "Of course, Mr. Moore. I'll do my best to follow your rules and meet your expectations," she replied, trying to sound confident.
Blake eyed her for a moment, his sharp gaze sizing her up. "Good. Now, let me give you a quick rundown of what I need from you. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage my schedule, answer my calls and emails, and ensure that my office is running smoothly. You'll need to be organized, efficient, and discreet," he said, leaning against the edge of his desk. "I have a few preferences that I would like to go over with you," Blake continued. "First, I prefer to be called by my first name, Blake. Second, I don't like to be disturbed during important meetings, so please make sure to only interrupt me if it's absolutely necessary. Finally, I like my coffee black and my schedule organized by day, week, and month."
Lily nodded again, taking mental notes of Blake's preferences. She was determined to be the best secretary he had ever had and to prove that she was worthy of this job. She had experience in administrative tasks, but she knew that working for Blake would be different. "I understand, Mr. Moore - Blake. Is there anything specific you'd like me to prioritize today?" she asked, eager to show her competence.
"I have a meeting in thirty minutes, so let's get started on organizing my schedule for the day," Blake said, opening his laptop and gesturing for her to do the same.
Lily felt a sense of purpose as she began typing away on her keyboard, organizing Blake's schedule and making sure everything was in order. She couldn't wait to see what the future held for her at Moore Enterprises.
Andrew, George, and Anne emerged from the mansion, gathering around as they saw the box and realized its contents. Andrew's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as he exclaimed, "Let's give it a try, Blake. It could be our best shot at finding Lily."However, Blake hesitated, understanding the implications. "As much as I'm tempted to, using a drone is not allowed in natural parks," he replied, distancing himself from the group and heading toward his car.Caught in the wake of Blake's abrupt departure, Matt's curiosity got the best of him, prompting him to ask, "Where are you off to?"Sliding into the driver's seat and igniting the engine, Blake's response was concise, "City." The car smoothly pulled away, leaving an air of puzzled silence in its wake. The group exchanged glances, sharing their confusion over Blake's unexpected departure and the secrecy shrouding his actions."Maybe he's considering a visit to his office this time," George speculated, his voice tinged with uncertainty. He sou
“All right, we will do that,” George agreed. The couple decided to leave the room and made their way downstairs, seeking solace in the family lounge.Outside the mansion, the first light of dawn painted the sky with delicate hues. Blake and his group emerged from the backdoor, weariness etched across their faces, overshadowed by an air of melancholy. Blake led the way, his shoulders slumped as he walked towards a plush love seat by the fireplace. He sat down heavily, turning away from prying gazes and closing his eyes in exhaustion. Andrew followed suit, his own fatigue apparent as he joined Blake in the lounge.Addressing Andrew, George, and Anne couldn't contain their worry. "Where is Lily?" they asked almost simultaneously, their voices revealing the depth of their concern.Heavy with regret, Andrew replied, "We deeply apologize. We didn't find Lily there. We believe Jake might have taken her, as we couldn't locate any trace of Jake or his men up there. Blake is devastated; he does
His thoughts were a tumultuous whirlwind, a tempest of worry for Lily's safety that consumed his every thought. With a deep breath, he steeled himself, his power, and the burning need to find Lily, driving him forward. The battle may have been won, but the war was far from over. Blake's journey was far from complete, his power and determination set to overcome every obstacle in his path to ensure Lily's safety and reclaim the future he held dear.Blake's agonized howl sliced through the night, a chilling call that pierced the silence and rallied his pack to his side. As they converged, their bodies contorted and twisted, morphing from sleek wolves into the haunting forms of humans. Blake, already transformed when they arrived, locked eyes with each of them, eager to hear good news.Despite their fervent efforts, Blake's pack scoured the surroundings after their intense clash with Glenn's pack, but Lily remained elusive. Their search spanned far and wide, encompassing every conceivable
In a distant place far removed from Blake's desperate pursuit, Jake chased Lily at high speed. Since Blake and Lily were physically separated, Jake thought this was the perfect opportunity to capture her and get what he wanted from her – her immense power.Running on all four, Jake’s eyes were fixated on Lily’s wolf figure a mile in advance from him. Jake’s heart matched his fast gallops – bare, soft thuds in the quiet night, determined to capture Lily. He moved skillfully, avoiding obstacles and jumping over rocks. The moon's fading light lit up the nighttime scene.Guided by the faint but luminous moon, Jake discerned Lily's swift silhouette darting through the forest with urgency. Intuition and instinct propelled him forward as he narrowed the distance between them. Whispering to himself between breaths, he pleaded, "Lily, make it easier for both of us. We wouldn't be here if only you had returned to us." His determination to catch up with her resonated within each step.Unaware th
Emerging from the cabin, Glenn's face turned a deep shade of crimson, his cheeks burning with intense embarrassment. The realization slammed into him like a sudden thunderclap, leaving him momentarily stunned – the subtle brilliance of Blake's chain-swinging tactic had completely eluded him. Regret gripped his heart as if a merciless vise, its thorns digging deep and leaving an agonizing ache that scrape his pride. After recovering from the pain of Blake's double-flying kicks, Glenn promised he would not feel embarrassed like that again. He turned into a huge wolf and ran after Blake, wanting to catch him and let him pay.Blake, hurried his speed, pressing forward in gallops through the dense foliage. His focus was on his mission to locate Lily. He moved toward the location of the solitary howl. Questions nagged at his mind. Why did she howl? He thought, wondering. Based on what he heard from Liza, Lily had escaped with her mother. How did she drift so far away instead of toward the
“Oh, I felt envious at how much you trusted him when you know him just recently. Lily, I grow up with him. I knew him inside and out. Your naivety will harm you more than I bullied you!"I don’t want to talk about him anymore. Let's talk about our own matters," Jake's voice grew stern and demanding, his tone carried an air of authority, demanding attention.Lily, unyielding in her resolve, responded, "There's nothing left to talk about," she emphasized, drawing a clear line in the sand. "If you choose violence, expect me to fight back," Lily's resolute words echoed with determination.Jake's ominous voice sent a shiver down Lily's spine, his words dripping with malevolence. "Impressive display of bravery. Let's test just how far you've strayed from us," he sneered. In a single fluid motion, he lunged, seizing Lily's right arm in an iron grip, attempting to pull her towards him. Yet, his perception of her strength fell drastically short. Unbeknownst to him, Lily's resilience had been h
