My mind raced with everything Mario dropped on me. As he left, I got a call from Doctor Evans. “Hey Doc, what’s up?”
“Hello Alice, I was wondering if you could meet me in the game room. I would like to discuss some things with you.”
“Some things? What kind of things?” I asked, finding his request odd.
“It’s better if we discuss it in person,” he replied.
I didn’t answer at first. This all sounded like a ploy to get me to talk about my family. “Doc,” I started, intending to refuse. I had to meet with Koreyon and deal with a possible traitor, but I stopped. What if this was about Michael? “I’ll be down in a few minutes.” If this was about Michael, I could spare a few minutes.

The night was cool and clear as we left the pack house. A slip of the growing moon broke through the treetops of the large yard. When I returned to the house, I went for a swim. Swimming was my go-to when life was too much. Leaving my office, I search for Mario, but instead for the next best thing - Koreyon. I had forgotten we had a training session today. I sat in my office, feeling the start of a headache coming on. There had been another attack on our borders, but the rogues also attacked the neighboring packs this time. Of course, that prompted all the local alphas to call an emergency meeting. It wasn’t good. If a challenged came, that’s where it would happen. As much as I hated to admit it, Michael was right. I sucked when it came to fighting. We would have to up our training big time if I was going to have a chance by the time the meeting came around in three days.I caught Koreyon’s scent outside the office. Instead of waiting for the knock, I called out, “come in.” When he entered, I said, “please tell me you have some good news.” But I saw by his expression it wasn’t.“The witness speaking against Flinn is Polly Green.”

I sat in my office, my fingers laced together and holding my chin. I should question Michael about the events of this morning, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Part of me was afraid Mario might be right. Michael was responsible. The other part recognizes that I am all over the place. I can’t let anyone see me like this. No way would anyone call me a capable luna if I was one minute yelling like a psycho then sobbing the next.Closing my eyes, I took slow, deep breaths.
