Irene

"She's not even a Luna. So why is everyone acting like she matters? I hate her!”

There were so many things I heard when I was coming down the stairs and it made me stop dead in my tracks.

I had to look at the direction that voice came from and it hurt me badly to see that a maid was the person saying terrible things about me.

It hurt my feelings that I was referred to as someone who wasn't Luna yet and the worst thing was that I was being hated because of my simple existence.

“You are right. She keeps acting like someone who is very important when she's not. I have no idea why the Alpha still keeps her here,” another supported what the first maid said and goosebumps appeared all over my body.

“He claims he loves her, which I doubt. How the hell did he love someone like that?”

The sound of the maid’s voice hit me like a stone to the chest and because of all that I heard, I could barely breathe.

I wasn’t even trying to eavesdrop. I just wanted to get some air, to walk past t

Lucien "Where is she?"That was the first thing I asked when I stepped through the front doors.I needed to see Irene immediately and I was not going to mix my words. I was taken aback when I noticed that Irene is no longer present. I used my eyes to search through the rooms but she was nowhere to be found. What kind of prank was she playing this time around? Irene knew how to get on someone's nerves so fast and this time, I was not going to take it easy with her. “I asked a fucking question! Where is she?” I demanded and my voice was sharp and demanding, shaking the walls of the room. I wasn’t even sure who I was talking to until I saw a few maids standing awkwardly by the hallway, their hands folded in front of them and their eyes darting around like they were scared. They looked like they were being punished and I couldn't tell which crime they committed. The truth is, I didn't care to ask. It was none of my business. Although, it was awkward seeing them in this condition.

IreneWhen the current situation hit me hard to my chest like a bullet, I didn't just sit there and wait for the worst calamity to befall me before I left. I ran with all my might. I went to Sila's apartment which was separated from the others. This was a good thing for me. I didn't want to see anyone. I didn't want anyone to ask me any useless question regarding my mood. I needed some space and I didn't want anyone to disturb me whatsoever. Most people had sworn that they were going to make my life a living hell but I wasn't going to allow that to happen. I was in control of my life and I was not going to allow anyone to gain access into my life and mess things up. That was not all…I had decided that I won't be wasting my energy on things that don't matter. Instead, I would use it to find out something that had been wrong with the park. It might sound strange to the ears but trust me, it's a better development than allowing myself to cry every time someone says something terr

IreneNo way! This has to be a slap to my face. I refused to smile. I just discovered what Silas has been doing and it made me broken. All these while he has been doing this yet he pretends everytime he came to meet me."You're still talking to Kael? After everything you said? Wait! Can you convince me that you are making sense?” I asked Silas and he could clearly see that I was very mad. I couldn't stop the words from tesrkng out of me. I couldn't dare hold my rage back. “Can you at least allow me talk?” He asked me and I just shook my head in shame. Silas was my brother but he was not who I thought he was..“I gave you every opportunity to say all you wanted to say,” I said and my voice shook. My voice didn't shake out of fear but from pure, boiling rage. There was nothing he could say to me at this time that would cause me to believe him. He was a liar and he didn't know how to do that properly. I stared at Silas, daring him to lie to me again. To my greatest surprise, he wa

Lucien Peris pushed the door open when my hands were placed behind my back. I was expecting him all these while because I had sent him on an important errand. “Any news?” I asked, preparing my mind for even the worst even though I was scared. One could see the goosebumps all over my body because of how tensed and scared I was of the unknown. "She's gone, my Lord. No one's seen her since this morning,” he informed me and I pressed my lips together. Peris’s words hit me like a sharp knife thrown into my chest.I turned around slowly, keeping my face straight as the room around me began to spin. That statement alone meant so many things to me and I could barely comprehend it. "What do you mean, she's gone?" I asked, but my voice remained calm but it was also cold. I knew that tone always scared the hell out of my warriors.Peris shifted on his feet and I could clearly see him playing with his fingers. Was there more to what he had to say to me?"The maids said she went out briefl

Irene"You're nothing but a disappointment, Irene. I think it's high time I let you know. You are a disappointment!”Those were the first words Silas said to me the moment I stepped out of the small bathroom in his room. I had barely gotten a grip on my thoughts. I had barely managed to calm my breathing after pacing around like a madwoman, and here he was, launching another attack towards me. I wasn't expecting him to call me a disappointment out of the blues. So, out of confusion, I stared at him, with a towel in hand. My heart was slowly getting colder as the clock kept ticking. "Really? We are starting with insults now? Not even a good morning or maybe 'how are you feeling after being publicly humiliated and dragged into yet another mess I didn't create?'" I asked yet he scoffed and squeezed his face. “Playing the victim card with me is not going to help you. Don't you dare try it because I didn't give you that privilege to play the victim card with me. You can't keep doing

IreneI didn’t expect to be alone in that room but it happened. I wanted to just lay my head on the couch and leave when I wanted to but Silas locked me indoors even after I protested. I couldn't escape so I was confined there and confined. I was left to think and for Silas’s return. “Stay put. I'm going on a scouting mission,” his voice rang inside my head. My heart kept aching because of the distance that had grown between us. He was no longer the brother I once knew. The brother I once trusted. Now, I couldn’t even bring myself to face him without feeling betrayed.I shifted uncomfortably on the bed, as my thoughts juggled all over my brain. There were so many things to think about. Our arguments had left me with more questions than answers, and I needed anything that would explain why he had changed so drastically. His coldness, the secrets he kept from me. Everything made my stomach churn and my intestine twist. I couldn’t sit here any longer. My thoughts were killing me

Irene“Why did I come here?” I muttered under my breath, standing outside Camila’s door. I decided to leave Sila's place after our argument but I ended up in front of Camila's place. It wasn’t as if I hadn’t been in similar situations before. But this time, it felt different. It was darker and heavier. All the words Silas had said to me and the plans he had made broke me further. I was sick from hearing it and it kept coming as a constant drumbeat. I had no one left to turn to except Camila, the one person I knew wouldn’t judge me.When she opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. She was not expecting me because of our recent fall out which I take some responsibility for. “Irene?” she asked, stepping back to let me in. “What are you doing here? Are you alright? Is everything okay?” She asked. I didn’t answer her immediately. I couldn’t utter a word. I have been wronged and I have also wronged her. My chest felt tight, like the air had been sucked out of the room, and I

IreneI pondered on what my friend said to me for a long time and I had to let her be. If I caused problems from her, I won't be able to forgive myself and she won't forgive me. I needed to steer clear from her. After deciding that I didn't want to cause chaos for my friend, I decided to sneak back into the pack house. That alone was a very risky decision and I didn't know what I was thinking when I thought of that. The only thing now was that I had to be careful and sneak in at night so that the eyes of people won't be on me. I had to avoid people's eyes at all costs. I was going to make sure I get answers to my questions from Lucien. Whether or not he decided to tell me. He has no choice! How could he do this to me? How could he be so comfortable leaving me in the dark?***Night came in as fast as possible and I quickly moved to the pack house. When I got there, I stopped at the back door which is always open for the mates to go in and go out without disturbing anyone. I ra

Irene's POVI sat cross-legged on the bed, my fingers absently trailing over the hem of the gown sample laid beside me. A maid had dropped it off hours ago, it was a gift from the council of Elders. The mating ceremony was about a week away, and the house buzzed with preparations—flowers, fabrics, feasts. It was exciting. I loved all the attention I got, but Lucien had grown distant, distracted. He was still here, assuring me that he cared, but it had changed. A knock came and Lucien stepped in. He looked tense, but he still managed to give me a soft smile."You're awake," he said.“I waited.” I rose slowly. “You missed dinner again. What's going on Lucien? Did I do something wrong?”His eyes clouded, a fleeting look of hurt flickered across his face. “Oh, Irene.” He pulled me to the bed and we sat down. “Is that how I made you feel?”I nodded and he continued. “I'm sorry, my love. I was hurting you unintentionally.” He brushed a hand through his hair. “There’s been… something to fo

Irene“Lucien, did you cook again?” I asked as I smelt the rich and buttery scent of something. My brows lifted when I stepped into the room. There it was, laid out in its glory: a large plate of pasta and chicken on the small table near the window.“My queen, it's all yours.” Lucien chuckled like a kid who just got his first bicycle. I blinked, stunned. “What is all this about?”“Don’t freak out,” he said, holding his hands up in mock surrender. “I only burned one thing this time and it's still good. The chicken is tender.”I laughed, the sound bubbling out before I could stop it. “Why did you keep cooking, Lucien?”He shrugged, as if it were no big deal. “You’re too beautiful to be stressed. I wanted to give you something back. Besides…” He stepped closer, voice dropping to a teasing whisper. “I think I’m improving.”“You are,” I murmured, staring at the food. My heart fluttered—because he cared too much. The first time he’d cooked for me, it had been a disaster.“Common,” he had s

Irene pov A month later, peace had finally returned to the pack and I could finally breathe. The air shifted and changed into something better and less contaminated. During that same time, I had been working really hard to gain the trust of the pack. "You know they're calling you 'The Gentle Luna' now, right?" Camila said, grinning as she handed me a mug of tea. I blinked and paused for a while. "Wait, what? Seriously?" I asked and She nodded at me. Her eyes were full of excitement. "It's spreading. The news is spreading outside the pack house. Even the traders in the market were saying how kind you were to the orphanage. Someone even mentioned you helped a little girl fix her broken doll. I'm so proud of you, sweetbreads,” she revealed and I chuckled, feeling warmth rise in my chest. "I didn't think people noticed that. This has to be very lovely news!” "Well, they did. And they are talking about it and they are doing that In a good way." That morning sunlight came i

Lucien “It is done, Alpha.” The guards assured me about Malcolm's additional punishment already carried out. I felt at peace at last. The traitors had been punished, and the pack would begin to heal. Though Kael was still out there, I knew he was no match for me, especially since his actions had been so wildly spread. If he were to ever be seen, he would not escape my wrath. The pack members would see that he was duly executed. Left to him, I would have killed him. He touched Irene and that alone should have made me behead him myself. Irene joined me in our room after talking to Silas. I was content that they were bonding well. She came to meet me on the bed, her warmth a gentle reminder of why I shouldn't bother about anything. She was cool, she was ice and she was fire. As we rested, Irene asked. “Lucien, why did you spare the council member's lives? I mean, you had every right to kill them, but you didn't. That's the punishment for traitors, death.”I looked at her, my eyes sea

Lucien“Long live the Alpha, long live the Alpha.”The crowd cheered loudly, content about the verdict I gave each of the traitors. It was the hardest for me to do. Tos sentence all seven of the council of Elders, but I was sure that was the right thing to do.“It's time for Malcolm Stark's verdict!” One of the guards announced. The ground fell silent as the elders were led away, their fate sealed. I nodded to the guards, my voice firm. "Bring Malcolm in."The guards returned with Malcolm, his eyes gleaming with desperation and anger. He wasn't remorseful. He didn't even reflect on what he had done. To him, he was right and everyone was wrong. He stood tall, his shoulders squared, but I saw the faintest tremble in his lips. As he faced me, his gaze darted around the room, searching for an ally or an escape.“If you're looking for where to run to, I assure you that you wouldn't move two feet without getting stabbed in your neck, so, relax and be good.” I said. The guards chained him

LucienPeris would receive his judgement today. And then the council of Elders too. I didn't want to judge them altogether. I was going to hear each and everyone's side of the story. To me, that was fair and just. I was dressed and ready for the day when Irene came to stand by my side. "It's time for Peris's judgment," I said, my voice firm. She placed a hand on my arm, her eyes searching mine. "I wish you luck, my love,” she took a pause and went on. “Peris is not a man of many words, Lucien. He is timid and loyal, in his own way. Perhaps you should allow him to speak for himself. He might not even understand half of the plan.”I nodded, considering her words. When Silas and I had been listening to the conversation they had in Kael's house, Peris seemed like the last person to understand the plan. He wasn't much of a contributor, just a sleeping accomplice. "Very well," I said. "I'll hear him out. But, why am I feeling like you want me to spare him?”She laughed. “No, silly. I know

Irene's POVI closed the door softly behind Lucien, his kiss still lingered on my lips. He said he wanted to meet with some pack members, to reassure them after the chaos of the arrest. He seemed relieved at least. That was all that mattered to me. Apart from the butterflies tingling at the pit of my belly, I was fine. It was late now and all I wanted was Lucien's presence with me. To hold me, kiss me, and feel me. I couldn't ever get enough of him. He was my strength and my weakness.A knock broke through my thoughts and I answered.“Come in,” I said, rising to my feet, heart thudding for a reason I didn't know. The door creaked open, and Silas stepped inside. He stood, his eyes somber, rimmed with guilt and sadness. He looked pale. I hadn't forgotten that he had been stabbed, his arm had been bandaged.“Silas, are you okay? You look so pale.” I said, already moving closer to him. “Did you eat at all?”“Irene,” he said, his voice low. “Can I talk to you?I nodded slowly and motione

Lucien's POV“Take them to the dungeon, make sure their screams don't disturb the peace of the house.” I ordered, my words heavy and final. The guards began to pull Malcolm, Peris, and the Elders forward, their hands were bound and their heads were lowered for the first time in years. The crowd parted for them, watchful. If not for the guards, I'm sure the pack wouldn't hesitate to kill them with their claws.Malcolm was the first to open his mouth. He was never the type to accept defeat when it came.“This is madness, Lucien!” he barked, fighting against the guards as they shoved him forward. “You’re letting emotion cloud your judgment. This is not the way of the council! You can't just discard us like that, this is barbaric!”I stepped forward, my gaze not leaving him. “You taught me the ways of this council. You knew everything, didn't you? But you still failed to live by your teachings. It's over, Malcolm.”His eyes narrowed, but before he could speak again, the eldest member of

Irene's POVI tried to sleep. The warmth of the blanket should have comforted me, but my instincts prickled beneath my skin. I was too restless. The bond between Lucien and I hummed with something heavy. Then I heard it—his voice, cold and full of command.“BOW DOWN!”“Lucien?” I echoed, and sat up instantly. My breath was caught in my throat. That wasn't a command whispered in private. That was Lucien's Alpha voice; the kind he'd used on Silas the first time we met. He told me to stay inside, but that was the last thing to do. I threw the blankets off and dressed quickly, tugging a robe over my body. I left the room and ran down the hall. I met a few guards posted around.“What's going on?” I asked breathlessly. The guards looked at themselves before one of them answered. “Alpha Lucien is exposing the traitors. The Council of Elders are being arrested.”“What?” I was shocked. Lucien hadn't said anything like that this morning. Why had he asked me not to come out? I didn't wait for
