Aurora’s POV

“Give that back to me,” I said.

My voice was shaking. All the cold pride in my chest melted into pure terror.

Sophie held Maya’s drawing between two long fingers. She looked down at the little figures of a boy and a girl, her eyes widening in realization.

“Maya and Leo...” Sophie whispered, her lips curling into a wicked grin. “You actually gave birth to them? You kept the dirty seed from the woods, and you had two of them?”

“Sophie, please,” I choked out.

The word tasted like acid

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Chapter 36: Two Vipers in the Penthouse

Damian’s POVI walked into the massive living room.On the cream sofa sat Elena Vance in a blue dress, sipping hot tea with her practiced lady smile. By the bar stood Vivian Maddox in a leather jacket, blowing cigarette smoke at the ceiling. The two biggest headaches in the Wolfe Kingdom had arrived in my suite uninvited.Their families had tried to force them into my bed for three years. Elena’s father ran the high council. Vivian’s father ran the border garrison. Neither cared about me only the crown and the Luna title. The moment they heard my heavy boots on the hardwood floor, both women turned around with big, hungry smiles.“Damian,” Elena purred, rising with smooth grace. “You didn't think you could leave the North without me, did you? You left without having your morning meal.”“The clerk told us you were busy,” Vivian smirked, flicking ash onto the floor. “Imagine our surprise when we heard you canceled your big meeting to wander the back halls.Checking the kitchen pipes, Da

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Chapter 35: The Sweetest Candy

Damian’s POV“Alpha?” Marcus called out again. His voice shook like he was staring at an alien. “Are you... are you okay?”His words snapped me out of my trance.I wiped that foolish grin off my face right away. My jaw tightened, and my features went cold as a block of ice.“I’m fine,” I grunted, my voice low and rough.I looked down at Keith. He was still sitting on the floor against the cracked wall, rubbing his neck where my fingers had dug in. His face was white as a sheet, and he was gasping for air like a fish out of water.“Get up,” I said coldly.Keith scrambled to his feet so fast he almost tripped over his own boots. He kept his head down, staring straight at the carpet. “F-Forgive me, Alpha! I did not know the little girl was under your protection!”I didn't answer him. What was I supposed to say? I didn't even understand what had just happened to me.My wolf had been fast asleep for five whole years. It hadn't cared about a single thing in the world. Then a tiny girl in a

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Chapter 34: The Uncle with Shiny Hair

Damian’s POVThe hallway was dead quiet.Marcus was still on one knee, staring at the little girl like his brain had stopped working. Keith sat against the cracked wall, holding his throat and trying to catch his breath.Nobody ever dared to look at me this way.Big bosses in the city bowed till their foreheads touched the table when I walked by. Tough gang leaders and pack fighters dropped their guns when they heard my name. Even the old council elders picked their words very carefully around me.Yet this tiny little thing, who was not even as tall as my knee, was looking up at me with two big blue eyes. She held out a wrinkled piece of paper and a dull blue crayon, waiting for me to take them.“Uncle?” she whispered again, tilting her cute head to one side. She pushed her small bottom lip out in a little pout. “Did your hand get tired from hitting the wall?”Marcus let out a tiny, choked gasp behind me.Deep inside my ribs, my wolf made a soft sound. It was not a roar. It was not a

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Chapter 33: The Little Stalker

Damian’s POVThe private service corridor was quiet, away from the chatter of the lower floors.I walked with long, heavy strides, my black coat sweeping around my knees. Behind me, Marcus and four of my strongest guards kept pace, their boots making no sound on the carpeted floor. My head still burned with a dull, throbbing pressure.Ever since my jet touched down in Greyport, my inner wolf had been clawing at my ribs like a starved beast. It paced back and forth inside my soul, growling, sniffing the air, driving my senses wild.Control yourself, I warned the beast in silence. We have a meeting with the harbor port officials. Do not make me lock you down. The wolf snapped back with a low, restless snarl, refusing to lie down.Suddenly, Marcus’s ear twitched.Ten paces behind us, the softest sound echoed against the polished walls.Tip... tap... tip... tap.It sounded like little paws scuffing across the floor. One of my guards, a seasoned warrior named Keith, slowed his pace and gla

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Maya and Damian

Aurora’s POVAt exactly half past three in the afternoon, I checked the apartment locks three times.I had left a pot of hot potato soup on the counter for Leo, along with clean water and two thick books.“Remember, Leo,” I said, kneeling in front of him and holding his small shoulders. “Do not open this door for anyone. Not even if someone says they are police or the landlord. Only open it when you hear my three knocks.”Leo nodded seriously. He looked up at me with his calm brown eyes. “Three slow knocks, Mommy. I know. Don't worry about me. Take care of Maya.”Maya was already bouncing by the door in her old shoes, clutching her worn-out pink rabbit doll with both hands. Her face was glowing with pure excitement.I kissed Leo’s cheek, stepped into the hallway with Maya, and listened as Leo turned the heavy deadbolt from inside.Hearing that sharp click made me breathe a little easier. The Grand Horizon Hotel stood on the tallest hill in Greyport. It was a massive building of white

  • The Alpha's Accidental Heir   Chapter 31: The Sleeping Wolf

Damian’s POVThe cold wind never bothered me.I pushed open the heavy front doors of my fortress, shaking the frozen snow off my shoulders. I had spent thirty-six hours straight at the northern border inspect-lines, and my head pounded with a dull, heavy ache.Inside the grand hall, the air was warm from the stone fireplace, but the smell made me want to turn around and walk right back into the storm.Heavy perfume. Cheap sweetness. Two women sat on the long sofas near the fire. The moment they heard my boots hit the marble, they scrambled to their feet.Elena Vance smoothed down her white silk dress, putting on that soft, pure smile she always used to play the innocent lady. Her father was Elder Vance, the highest-ranking council elder in the Wolfe Kingdom, second only to my own ruling house. Her family had sent her here three years ago to lock down the Luna seat for the Council.Vivian Maddox didn't wait. She shoved past Elena in her tight red dress, tossing her dark hair over her s
