{Lisa’s POV}

Heri’s voice rang out before the movie could really take hold. “Lisa! Lisa! Look what I madeeee.”

I turned just as the door creaked open and there she was, holding a piece of paper in her small hands, her grin wide enough to light the whole room.

She had grown so much since coming home with us. In that time, we came to see the girl Heritage for who she really was. An expressive child. Not some stoic woman in a child's body. It was heartwarming to see how quickly she opened up.

She went from being quiet most of the time to always addressing us as Mr. And Mrs. And them actually calling us by our names.

‘Awwwwww.’

The paper looked wrinkled from the way she had clutched it all the way from her room, but her excitement made it look like treasure.

She clambered onto the bed without hesitation, wedging herself right between Ronan and me. “It’s us,” she announced proudly, flipping the drawing around so we could see.

I leaned forward, instantly warmed by what she had done. She had

    {Ronan’s POV}Teeth meet flesh and bone all around us, roars split the air, and the stench of sweat and blood thickened the grand chamber. I had no interest in the faceless men that threw themselves in my way. Each strike, each blow, each step I took was for one purpose alone. Damon.Lucien’s laughter gnawed at me like fire under my skin. The way he raised his hand and drew the crowd’s attention, pompous as a monarch already seated on a throne, made my wolf claw at the walls of my control.I shoved my clawed hand through the chest of the guard in front of me, tearing him down, then whipped my body into a brutal spin that cut down another. Blood sprayed warm across my arms as I pushed forward.I was close, so close, when two of Lucien’s men struck from both sides. One caught my right arm in a brutal lock, the other rammed his shoulder into my gut and forced me back. My clawed feet screeched against the stone floor as they pinned me, but my eyes never left Damon.“Did he threaten you?”

    {Lucien’s POV}‘He's serious huh?’The silence between us stretched long. Neither of us willing to be the first one to break it. Or so I thought.Needless to say, Ronan said nothing, only stood there, his eyes fixed on me with that piercing weight that had unsettled men far less than I. I, however, absorbed it. The satisfaction that swelled within me was nearly intoxicating. He wanted Damon back. He would wait for me to state my terms.The irony was delicious. I had no idea where Damon was either, yet I carried myself as though his very life sat within my palm. It was all about control, the perception of it, the art of keeping the upper hand even when the ground beneath you shook.I leaned the slightest bit closer, my words nothing more than a whisper meant for him alone. “This is your chance, Ronan. Show me, show everyone here, just how much you consider Damon family.”His silence lingered, unbroken. The muscles in his jaw twitched but his mouth never moved. He simply stared.I smile

    {Lucien’s POV}“Grand… just as I imagined.”The day unfolded exactly as I had envisioned, yet there was a weight to it that pressed against my chest. Election day was finally here. It felt like a fever dream.Especially how in hindsight most things had actually worked out in my favour. Even when there were temporary setbacks. They all served to boost another plan that came somewhere down the line.Everything I had schemed, bent, and broken myself for had funneled into this morning.The convoy slowed as we neared the venue, a vast marble hall seated upon stone steps that gleamed like polished bones under the sun.All around were banners in the colors of the Council fluttering with purpose in the wind. My car door opened to a wall of voices. My name. My chants. My supporters.I stepped out slowly, savoring it, letting them take in the sight of me. I had dressed for the occasion after all.‘Ahh yes. Praise me more.’Fitted in a tailored charcoal suit which hugged my frame firmly. I was a

    {Ronan’s POV}“I think something is up with Damon.” I said… the words a heavy realization even now.I sat beside Lisa’s bed, after tucking her in. Her hand wrapped loosely in mine, when I finally told her what had been clawing at me since earlier that morning. “Sean went by Damon’s place. He didn’t find him there. He only the nanny. And when I asked Anya, she told me she hasn’t seen her uncle in days.”Lisa’s brows knitted. She squeezed my hand gently, as though she could steady the storm in me. “Maybe he’s handling something important. The election is tomorrow, right? He could be… preparing. Something even you can't know about because of the whole mole situation.”I shook my head. “Lisa, it’s not like him. He hasn’t called, hasn’t shown his face, not even to check up on you after the accident. And he’s still not picking my calls. This isn’t Damon.”She studied me, her gaze soft yet unwavering. “Then go look for him.”The answer was simple and direct, but I gave her a look that said I

    {Lisa’s POV}‘Ouch.’ I flinched as the sharp end of the needle pierced and exited my skin. I never liked injections, and the universe tortured me by making it a must to take three shots every single day.“Your next shot will be in eight hours.” The nurse said as she exited the room.It had been a week since the accident, though to me it felt like years had dragged themselves across my body. The walls of my room had become both sanctuary and prison, the doctor’s words echoing every time I so much as shifted too quickly. “Rest, Lisa. You need to put minimal strain on yourself.” Dr. Johan’s instructions had been repeated so often that I swore they were carved into the wood of my bedposts.Ronan obeyed those orders as if they had been laws passed down by the heavens themselves. Which was cuteeee.He rarely left my side. If he wasn’t sitting at the edge of the bed watching me like a hawk, he was stationed by the door, working through calls, his voice spilling through the cracks. Even when
