Lisa’s POV

The morning of the event came too quickly.

The moment I opened my eyes, I knew what day it was. That sort of day that if I had a way I would keep postponing.

I woke up just before dawn, laying still for a while, reluctant to leave the warm embrace of the blankets. Then, with a sigh, I sat up and shivered in the morning cold.

‘How does he wake up so early when it’s this cold?’

‘Sigh, time to get prepared.’

It was time to face a new day, and there was a lot to do. I had no excuses to escape this…

This was the milestone celebration Ronan had told me about, an opulent private gathering in honor of Martin Greaves. A man with enough money and reputation to demand attention without ever raising his voice. Ronan said it would be “quiet.” That meant no press, no paparazzi. Just power, distilled in suits and sequins. A room full of decision-makers and wolves dressed as kings.

Ronan had been calm about it the night before, almost bored. “You’ll come with me,” he said. “It’s time they

  • The Alpha’s Accidental Surrogate    Chapter 31

Lisa’s POVI stood there, watching Selena walk away like she’d just dropped the mic on a show I didn’t even know I was in. My fingers twitched at my sides. I wasn’t sure if I was holding myself back or just trying to keep from unraveling.Because God, I wanted to stop her. Just for one second. Ask her who the hell she thought she was. Maybe slap the smug little smile off her face while I was at it. But no, she wanted a reaction. That was the whole point of her little performance. She wanted me to lose it. Explode. Fall apart. So I didn’t.I stood there.Still.Because that’s what you do when you’re trying not to hand over your power to someone who’s already stolen more than you thought they ever could.I let it slide. Or at least I told myself I did.But I knew, deep down, that whatever Selena was plotting, it wasn’t petty. It wasn’t casual. It wasn’t mild. It wasn’t “oh, we just bumped into each other and now we’re colleagues.” No. That girl didn’t do coincidence. It was destruction

  • The Alpha’s Accidental Surrogate    Chapter 30

Lisa’s POVOf all the faces I expected to see when Jocelyn stepped out of that room, hers wasn’t one of them.Selena.She was here. Out of every place in this entire world, she was here standing beside Jocelyn like she's known her for ages. Like she’d always belonged. My heart sank, and I didn’t realize how tightly I was gripping the strap of my bag until my knuckles ached.Selena’s eyes flicked up, landing on me.And then, that smile.Oh God! That damn smile.Just enough to let me know she saw the shock in my face.“Oh hey,” she said, like this was casual. Like we were old friends meeting at brunch.Jocelyn pulled me into a hug so suddenly, I didn’t even register it until her perfume filled my lungs and her arms were around me.“My darling,” Jocelyn said sweetly, genuine as always. “I’m so glad you made it.”I hugged her back stiffly, trying to fold away everything I felt, pack it down into the pit of my stomach. I didn’t want to give Selena the satisfaction of seeing how rattled I w

  • The Alpha’s Accidental Surrogate    Chapter 29

Lisa’s POVI wasn’t scared when the thought first crossed my mind. Not really. It was just a passing shadow. A flicker of possibility. But there I was, hand on the doorknob to Ronan’s room, staring at the polished wood like it might strike back. Like the second I opened it, someone might be waiting on the other side with a knife. Or worse, Ronan might walk through the front door right at that moment and catch me.Not that I had anything to be guilty of. Not really. But I still let go of the knob slowly, fingers slack with hesitation, and turned away.Back to my room.I walked the hall quieter than I meant to, dropped my bag on the edge of the bed, and just sat. The silence felt heavier now. Like it knew I’d chickened out.I let my elbows rest on my knees, hands tangled in my hair, eyes locked on the nothing in front of me.Did I really want to know? Any of it?What if I found something that I couldn’t un-know? What if I opened that door and saw something that changed everything, not j

  • The Alpha’s Accidental Surrogate    Chapter 28

Lisa’s POVI don't even know why I had said that, I wasn’t even sure I wanted an answer. My arms were crossed before I noticed. I wasn’t being defensive, I was just tired of being a part of all this.Ronan didn’t blink. He leaned back slowly, arms folded like a man who had nothing to lose and no reason to lie. “That’s if there’ll be a next one.”That stopped me.Not because he was being dramatic. But because he wasn’t. No sarcasm. Just certainty. Like he’d already decided something and didn’t feel the need to explain it.I turned my head slightly, not fast, just enough to find Damon where he stood at a polite distance, his hands behind his back, his face giving away nothing.Ofcourse.For a moment, none of us said anything. Just the hum of silence and the soft ticking of whatever clock they had hidden in here.“How long are we going to be here?” I asked as my eyes drifted across the room, the wall, the high ceilings, the furniture too pristine to touch.Ronan looked over at Damon, and

Lisa’s POVColt drove like a man possessed. He didn’t say a word, he just slammed the paddles too hard and took turns like he was street racing ghosts. The seatbelt cut across my collarbone with every lurch forward. I gripped the door handle, not for support, but to keep me from screaming. It wasn’t fear. It was frustration. A slow, boiling rage wrapped in confusion. We’d just fled a blood-soaked event, Ronan had stayed behind, and now I was being whisked away in the middle of the night by two wolves who were either too nervous or too trained to speak.I stared at Colt. Then at Sean. Then back out the window.Nothing.They said nothing. Not a single word came out their mouths. So I inhaled, once. Twice. Then calmly asked, “Is anyone going to tell me what the hell is going on?”There was a very low deep breath from one of them which thereafter, Colt was the first to break.“Ronan is fine.”Wait,That’s it? That was the sentence?I turned to him. Slowly. “And?”That made them glance at e

  • The Alpha’s Accidental Surrogate    Chapter 26

Lisa’s POVWe didn’t run.Damon kept a steady pace, fast but not frantic. His hand was tight on mine, cutting through the chaos with the certainty and confidence of someone used to crisis. Behind us, the Greaves estate crackled with panic. Screams. Shouting. The blur of movement as guards scrambled and high society tried not to fall apart in front of each other. I turned, just once, trying to find Ronan in the mess.Damon tugged me forward again.“Eyes forward. Don’t stop.”We moved through a service gate, past confused staff and a few lingering guests, their faces frozen somewhere between horror, fear and calculation.Headlights flared as a black SUV rolled to a halt just as we reached the end of the marble breezeway. Not the same car we came in. Damon opened the rear door quickly. “Get in,” he said.I hesitated. “But Ronan—”“He’s still inside. I’m going back for him.”As I dropped into the backseat my eyes searched his face for more. Reassurance maybe.“Go, Lisa. They'll keep you
