Melissa
I was too embarrassed to face everyone in the square to return to my seat. Instead, I sat at the far end, near the exit, and watched the rest of the competition there.I recoiled in torment now and again, touching my hurting back. Due to my weakness, my broken ribs would take much longer to heal, and I could feel them.In most cases, it would take me about ten days to regain my strength, but once I did, there would be another full moon, and Jasmine would come back to take all my power.Regardless of how hard I battle her, she generally wins because of the dark magic she uses. Jasmine broke so many laws as wolves are not allowed to use magic or seek assistance from the Mages. My father disregards all that she does and the workers in the house dare not let out the slightest peep or they will be killed. I clearly can’t make any significant difference with it as I’m apprehensive how my dad would treat me.He generally let her have her way and she meddled with everybody around her.Talk about the devil. I saw Jasmine knock out the second opponent after embarrassing me when I looked up amid the loud cheers. As the final opponent entered the arena, cheers were once more heard. I looked up a as the person I had been waiting for strolled towards Jasmine. It was Alpha Caspian, the Alpha of the pack. This contest was open to pack members over the age of 30 and older. In the competitions, Caspian usually fought other pack members because he was still young. The former Alpha, who was killed in a fight with Rogues, was his father. I heard the tales about how Caspian without any help slayed everyone of the Rogue on that day angrily. No one dared to challenge Caspian, who assumed the position of Alpha by default. He was revered by my father as well.I respected him a lot and some of the time, I wish that my mate would be somebody like him. Someone who would love me and have the strength to keep me safe. I would no longer live in constant fear or suffer humiliation if I had a partner like him.I watched as Jasmine grunted and and cried loudly as she fought against him. She would lose to Caspian and finish second, just like the previous year and the year before.I’m supposed to be the one up there . She is able to be this good because of my abilities. My extra abilities began to show when I was in high school and when she foind out, she didn’t allow me to get to master them before she looked for help from a witch.Caspian won the competition by striking Jasmine to the ground and placing his hand on her neck, and the crowd cheered loudly. What happens after this was all a blur to me. I didn’t really care about what was happening or rather still, it was better on the off chance that I didn’t try to get involved. There was a festival and after it finally finished, the doors of that square was opened. I had enough of sitting here and watching everyone; it was already evening.I got up from the bench I had been sitting on and made my way toward the gate so I could return home. I quickly stopped when someone crossed their hand over the narrow gate as I was about to exit.Keelin, Jasmine’s friend, was smiling smugly at me when I looked up.“Poor loser.” She laughed.I tried to pass under her hand, but she lowered her hand, and I stopped quickly before my face could touch her hand. I ignored her.“Don’t ignore me, I’m talking to you!” I stood straight up and looked at her as she said that in annoyance.I replied, crossing my arms over my chest, “I don’t have anything to say to you Keelin.”“But you do!” Jasmine suddenly pushed me from behind after I heard her voice behind me. I stumbled forward and almost ran into Keelin, but she pushed me back right away.I staggered back once more and Alyss quickly moved out of the way, making me fall on my back to the floor.Keelin chuckled, “Such a loser.” Jasmine poured the contents of the glass over my head just as I stood up, and I grunted as I sat up on the floor. So I could see clearly, I wiped my face, and the alcohol caused the bruises on my skin to burn. I noticed a group of people standing around the corner when I looked around. Before leaving the gate, I turned my head away and pulled my wet hair back.“Make sure you don’t get wet again on your bed. The servants are already under enough stress from you! I heard Jasmine yell behind me and people burst into laughter. That was the lie she told the pack, and I couldn’t defend myself because I was allowed to leave the house occasionally and some people avoided me because of my father. They all held the belief that I was a weirdo with mental and physical health issues.I walked because I wasn’t ready to wait for everyone to get over this and have my dad drive us back home.I finally looked up after about ten minutes to see my house ahead. A swiftly moving shadow caught my eye as I looked over my shoulder.I ignored it and assumed it was a real wolf from the pack running around.I took a deep breath and stopped in front of my house. I grabbed the door handle, however I pulled my hand back as I chose not to go in yet.I made the decision to take a seat at the base of the tiny forest behind our house. Usually, I went there to be by myself and just look at the sky. I gradually strolled down the slant and I stopped as I got to the foot of the forest. Before sitting down on the grass, I took a deep breath and exhaled.I wanted to stay here for a while and take a short break from all my problems before going back to take a bath. My hair reeked of alcohol.I investigated my shoulder again as I had this feeling that somebody was watching me. I wasn about to keep walking when I saw the human figure’s shadow in the distance.Who was it?***Melissa's POV***Arnold staggered backwards as he was stabbed. The knife she used was purely made of dark magic. That very instant, I noticed Arnold going pale. “No!” I screamed out in anger at what happened right in front of me. Just then, I force pulled me up from the floor and I couldn't tell how I did it but the next thing I knew, I was standing right in front of the witch whose hands had become bloody with my mate's blood. I gripped her on the neck and pulled her up. “How dare you put a finger on my mate! I swear, I'll never forgive you. You must pay with your life for what you've done to my mate!”That's all it took for me to snap her neck. When I realized the witch had finally been killed, I tossed her to the ground and turned around towards my mate, who was now lying helplessly on the floor with Xavier by his side. Seeing my mate struggling for his life made my heart ache terribly. I felt like I was going to die from the pain. I managed to carry myself to his side. “
***Melissa's POV***“Argh!” I screamed out in pain as the young witch continued to cast her spell. Presently, I had shifted back into my human form as I couldn't bear the immense pain from the burning I felt on my back. Just then, I heard my child scream out. I quickly turned around to see my child who was crying non-stop. If it were to be in another situation, I would have been annoyed at the fact that my child was crying so hard. But currently, I felt relieved that my child was crying because it was an indication that he was alive. The cries of my child suddenly gave me the strength I thought had been drained by the witch. “You think I'm going to let you win? Never!”I struggled to stand up on my feet while the Witch continued to cast her incantations. I wasn't concerned about what she was doing at that moment. Rather, what I was more concerned about was the fact that I had to escape from this coven after finishing off their witch. With the little power left in me, I shit my ey
***Alpha Xavier's POV***Just as I was about to join them to cast the spell, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my heart, which made me stagger backwards. “Argh!” I heard someone scream, to my shock, it was Arnold. He held on to his chest just like I did. “Arnold, Xavier, what's going on. Why do you both feel the same pain at once?” Emilia asked, confused. “I have no idea, Emilia.”They probably do not know since we are of different tribes, but I know very well what this means. “We need to hurry with whatever spell week is about to carry out. Melissa is in danger. She must have been hurt,” I said in panic. I sat next to Arnold. At this point, I can't afford to hold whatever grudge I have against since we both have one common goal, and that is to find Melissa as soon as possible.I shut my eyes and let Emilia cast the spell, just as she had said she would. In no time, I found myself in the woods. I looked around, but I was alone. Where were Emilia and Arnold? Just then, I realized
**Alpha Xavier's POV***I've searched the woods for two days, yet there was no sign of a single witch. I was beginning to doubt whether what Badmos gave me was effective or not. Of course, it has to be effective. I had to find my child, but I don't even know where to search anymore. “Alpha, Xavier, I'm not sure if we'll be able to find your son this way. I think what we need is a powerful watch who knows the terrain. The orb is probably broken or ineffective.”“I thought so too,” I muttered. “Why don't we go back to the coven to see how things were in the coven?”“No, I can't!”“What? Why not?” Drake asked in surprise. “Listen, I promised my Luna that I was never coming back until I could bring my child with me.”"Of course I was there when you said that, but at this point, you also know that there's no way we can find your son. He's an Infant, where do we even begin to search for an infant.”“My child isn't whom I'm looking for, but the bitch who took my son.”“But there's no such
***Melissa's POV***I stood in front of two ladies. One looked as old as Emilia while the other was as young as I am, though I could tell that she's not as young as I think she is. To worsen it, she's the one carried my child who is now quiet. I wonder if he's doing okay by being silent, or if they used some kind of dark spell to keep him shut. “I'm here now, please give me back my child.”The ladies both looked at one another and laughed out hysterically. “Mother, she's such a naive one. Who would have thought that she'll really come to us so easily.”“Don't talk like that child. She's a mother, so it's only natural that she would do everything to save her child, and this is one thing we lack.”“You're right now. And that is why we must break this goddess forsaken curse!”The moment they mentioned the curse, I was reminded of what Emilia had told me earlier about the curse my grandmother had laid on them. “The curse, huh? I know about this curse. But then, my child has got nothing
**Badmos POV**While in bed, I couldn't sleep because I realized that this wasn't the best way to protect Melissa. I promised Xavier that I was going to watch over her, and the best way I could actually do that is by staying by her side if I have to. This is the only way for her me to fully keep an eye on her. I quickly rolled out of bed and headed to her room. But before then, I stopped at Emilia's. I knocked light in Emilia's door and in a few seconds, Emilia got the door. “Badmos, you're still awake.”“Couldn't sleep. With my grandson missing and Melissa in the terrible state she's in, I can't leave her in such a state, you know.”“You're right. I checked on her a few minutes ago. I think we should both check on her again, just to be certain she's okay.”Emilia and I both went to her door. But then, Emilia both noticed something strange, and that was the lack of a presence in the room. We could both feel it from where she stood. Emilia and I both exchanged quick glances before
