Chapter 2

Terrence was dodging every curse and obstacle thrown at him. Then suddenly his father stopped everyone.

"You all are doing good!" the Alphas voice boomed. “We are lucky to have a few witches on our side to help us in this battle but now it is time for you to rest. Tomorrow, King Daemon has also promised to send us reinforcements to help in the fight against Sybl. We should be able to defeat her Dark Coven easily.”

Terrence walked to the lockers near the training grounds to clean up. People around him were talking about the battle tomorrow but at the moment, he was thinking about something…. Or rather someone else.

He remembered how he had broken up with Azalea to protect her. He was to go back home after graduation and his mother had advised him to break up with Azalea. He hadn’t wanted too. It had, in retrospect, been the biggest mistake of his entire life.

"She is an aberration,” his mother had told him. “She is an omega wolf-witch hybrid with a human father! Nobody in the pack will accept her. I have found for you a perfect future Luna with wonderful lineage. She might even be your mate. You owe it to your pack to give her a chance. We need a strong Luna to ward off our enemies. You know that the dark witch Sybl is trying to take over and has been eyeing our pack. Azalea is not strong enough to save our pack. Break up with her before you return to us. She does not know you are an alpha, correct? Well, when she finds out, she might even break up with you herself because she knows she is not Luna material.”

He had been a stupid 17-year-old and easily fallen for his mother's words. A year had passed since then and he was wiser now. Guilt plagued him as he remembered how he had lied to Azalea that there was someone else and it hurt him like anything. Almost immediately he’d regretted his decision. He tried to find her after graduation but it was like she had disappeared. He however, vowed to keep searching for her. He still wore the golden locket around his neck that he had given Azalea. It was right under his shirt. He would always wear it and the moment he found her, he would beg for her forgiveness and pray to the moon goddess that she’d be his again.

Sybl smiled maliciously. ‘I am going to take over the Aberdeen pack tomorrow,’ she thought to herself. ‘I have been working on this plan for about a year. Ever since the day a spy informed me of Terrence breaking up with Azalea. Poor soul doesn’t even know everything was planned. I had that father and sorry excuse for a mother of hers killed…they had served their purpose in taking care of the girl. But I was careful in making it look like a car crash. Then sending Devon to bring her to me. She was so easy to persuade. If all goes according to plan, I might not even need Melanie.’

Sybl cackled to herself triumphantly, thinking of her hybrid daughter that had been taken from her and hidden away by her own mother.

Sybl looked into a ball of fire that was levitating in her hand. In the middle of the fire it showed an image of Azalea sleeping in her bed. Sybl cackled. Azalea had traces of Earth Witch magic. She had so much potential, if only she knew. The only downside was her omega blood. But…that would be rectified soon enough. It would not matter if things went according to plan. Sybl would eventually have a stronger prodigy in the place of Azalea.

Azalea wore a tight black tank top and tight black jeans. She was wearing black boots in which she had slipped a knife. Her hair dark blood-red hair was open and she was wearing a huge black cloak with its hood over her head.

At first Azalea had refused to wear a hood, saying "I am no coward! I do not fear to show them my face."

But Sybl had persisted saying it was the sign of all her warriors. At the moment, she stood beside Sybl getting ready to teleport. Sybl opened a portal to a part of land that had a lot of greenery with a huge hill at its side. About 20 feet away stood an army of werewolves ready for battle. They all stared at back at Sybl’s dark army with the look of battle in their eyes. The look of willingly dying to defend what was there’s. A look of determination that they were right...

The tension was building up between the two sides. Each waiting for the other to attack first. Azalea was at the front of the army ready to lead them. She walked in front of the army as it followed her. She reached the army and saw that the King had sent some of his best warriors to defend the Aberdeen pack. She recognized some of them from her days at Alton Academy.

A smile played at her lips. Sybl who was beside her stared menacingly at the alpha of the Aberdeen pack. Sybl was the only one who’s face was not obscured from view.

The Alpha of Aberdeen stared back defiantly until Sybl finally dropped his gaze.

‘You must kill the son of the alpha of Aberdeen,’ Sybl instructed, using her magic to mind-link Azalea. ‘You will know who he is. He will be wearing the same sigil pinned to his right shoulder as his father.’

Azalea looked around coolly, looking for a young man wearing a golden brooch with an A and a wolf’s body lithely twirled around it, his snout pointed upward as if about to howl at the moon. The Alphas son must have been some coward, probably in the very back or hiding with the Luna and orphans. No matter, Azalea would find him. And she’d have to kill him. She had no choice in the matter. Today’s mission was too important to let her conscious get in the way. That much even she knew. But what was one death for the success of this battle?

"It's still not too late to give up,” called out the Alpha of Aberdeen.

"The Dark Witch Sybl never gives up," said Sybl in a deadly whisper. "Attack!"

Both sides charged at each other, a crescendo of spells, snarls and screams of pain mixed together to create a horrific bloody symphony.
