Chapter 10

Waking up the next morning, Azalea thought about what to do. She was loyal to Sybl and what would anyone loyal to Sybl do? Trap Terrence and turn Terrence in of course. Hand him over to Sybl to use as leverage but she couldn't. She just couldn't , so she decided to stay quiet.

"Idiot!" Sybl thundered.

"I'm sorry Mistress… I did not know she would appear," Devon murmured.

"Fix it!"

"How?"

"I don't care! Just fix it!"

"Mistress… it can't be f-"

"DO IT!” Sybl roared as green light pulsed around her angrily and hit Devon.

Devon fell to the ground in agony.

"Mercy! Mercy!" Devon gasped from his position on the ground.

"I show no mercy," Sybl thundered.

A crack of lightening came down and hit Devon, making him scream and writhe in pain.

"Which is good," came Azaleas voice from the door way.

She leaned against it, watching Devon suffer. But her heart wasn't in it. Not anymore.

"Yes Azalea I found out about your little experience with Devon," purred Sybl. "Does he deserve mercy?"

Azalea looked at Devon's body convulsing in pain on the floor. Azalea couldn't help but think he was being punished unfairly.

"Do you love her?" Azalea asked bearing down on him with her stare.

"Yes," Devon managed to gasp out as tears of pain streamed down his face.

"Then he deserves mercy," said Azalea poignantly, instantly thinking of her love for Terrence. "He can not be punished for loving someone."

Sybl took the spell of Devon.

"As Terrence Evans shouldn't be punished for what he did to you?" Sybl spat.

Azalea looked away as if she had been slapped. "He was young and naïve," Azalea muttered.

“And now?” Sybl challenged.

“Now…” Azalea hesitated. “…he wants to save me,” she finally ended.

“Save you?” Sybl cackled with malicious laughter. “Save you from what?”

"From you my dark mistress." Azalea said sadly.

She then slowly backed out of the room, not able to stay and talk with Sybl a moment longer. Emotions were overwhelming her. Emotions she'd kept bottled up for too long.

"Devon!" Sybl roared. "We're losing her! I shall not lose her! She is the key to our success! Keep an eye on her!"

Devon got up from the floor.

"Y-yes my Dark Mistress," he gasped.

"Now leave my sight!"

Devon bowed and left.

Azalea felt as if she'd been slapped with cold water. Talking with Sybl had somehow brought her back to reality. Terrence wanted to save her. These words repeated themselves in her mind. Reaching her room she looked frantically around for the crystal ball but she couldn't find it. In a split second decision, she opened up a portal straight into the office of the Alpha of Aberdeen.

Terrence's father stood behind his desk and his eyes widened as he saw Azalea walk through the portal.

Azalea nodded to him curtly. “Sybl's next target is the small Dark Creek pack nearby, keep them safe," Azalea directed.

"We will do all we can to protect them," the Alpha vowed solemnly. "Although I think there is someone here who you should meet."

"Who?” Azalea inquired. “I don’t have time, I need to get back before-“

"Look behind you Azalea,” a very familiar voice said filled with emotion.

Azalea turned to see Terrence, Silas and Remi standing there. Silas had been the one to speak.

Azalea suddenly felt as if she was going to die from lack of oxygen. The three boys were hugging her so hard that she felt she might suffocate but she didn't care.

"We missed you Azalea!" said Silas in a teary voice.

"I missed you guys too," Azalea choked out.

She had so many wonderful memories with Silas and Terrence by her side. Remi too, but he’d always been the more studious of them, preferring the library to their adventures at the elite academy for werewolves.

"We thought for sure you had turned over to the dark side. Azalea I'm sorry I ever doubted you," said Remi full fledged tears streaking down his face. The two boys quickly let her go while Terrence was the only one left hugging her.

"Terrence," Said Azalea gently. "I have to go. Sybl she-she'll get suspicious as to where I am."

"No Azalea. I'm not letting you go," Terrence said fiercely.

"You have too," Azalea said crying.

"No. Not again."

"I'll come back later," Said Azalea and untangled herself from Terrence. "I promise to be back later today."

She wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand and disappeared into the portal.

“That magic-“ Terrence’s father said, watching the spot Azalea had disappeared into. “Is stronger than normal half-witch magic.”
