Lucy's POV.

My legs carried me fast to the maids' quarters, and as soon as I jammed the door closed behind me, I closed my eyes and sniffled.

I wanted to cry but I was so burning with rage inside of me. I was this close to fulfilling the deal and getting Aliya and me out of the mess of being a maid.

It was clear that Miss Ava was a devil to never make a deal with, but then she seemed so well a devil that would make you enjoy her first before she probably turned her back against us.

For me, anyway, I had plans, so she was never going to be able to betray us.

The aim was almost achievable, but Aliya...my eyes opened just then, and I quickened my pace, heading to our room, certain that she would be there until a maid stopped me on the way.

She had jumped in front of me and my eyes flared before my nostrils crunched in annoyance. It was evident, so she quickly took one step back.
