I felt her presence behind me. Zenya trudged after me the moment I left the meeting hall, a steaming trail at my back.

“Cass. Cassie. Cassius!”

I stopped in my tracks and turned and she almost collided into me, stumbling to an abrupt stop, as though she didn't expect me to respond to her call.

“Why were you ignoring me?” She snapped, green eyes blaring with annoyance.

“I’m wasn’t ignoring you, Zenya. I’m just tired.” I said flatly

“Tired of what?” She nagged. “You barely spent ten minutes inside the meeting hall, shutting off the meeting before it even began. What is up with you? Are you really going to act this way at a time like this?”

I grunted, shaking my head. “Zenya, I don’t need you lecturing me right now. I’ve had a fair share of your father and the rest of the elders bother me enough?”

She looked appalled but I caught the faint look of hurt in her eyes. “Are you trying to call me a bother?”
