I lunged forward and bit down on his shoulder. Not deep enough to kill, but deep enough to leave a mark that would never heal. The Mark of the Outcast.

"You are rejected," my wolf's voice echoed in everyone’s mind. "You are nameless. You are nothing."

I turned away from him. Kaelen walked up to me and placed a hand on my fur. He wasn't afraid of my wolf. He looked proud.

"My Queen," he whispered.

But then, the floor beneath us groaned. A hidden trapdoor snapped open.

"If I can't have the pack, nobody can!" Harden screamed. He was holding a small remote in his hand.

The walls began to glow with a strange, red light. Explosives. Harden had rigged his own home to blow up with everyone inside.

"Sylvia, jump!" Kaelen yelled, grabbing me.

But the explosion was faster. A wall of fire ripped through the room, separating me from Kaelen. The ceiling began to collapse, and the last thing I saw was Harden’s twisted, smiling face as the floor fell away beneath me.

I was falling into the dark, and this time, there was no one to catch me.

The world exploded in a roar of heat and fire. The floor didn't just open; it vanished. I shifted back to my human form as I fell, my skin stinging from the heat. Everything was orange and black. I hit a pile of old wooden crates in the basement, the wood snapping like dry bones under my weight.

"Kaelen!" I screamed. My voice was lost in the sound of the mansion collapsing above me.

I struggled to my feet. My silver dress was torn and covered in soot. I looked up and saw the ceiling sagging. Heavy stone beams were glowing red from the fire. Harden had planned this perfectly. He wanted to bury us all in the ruins of the SilverLine legacy.

"Sylvia!"

A hand grabbed mine through the smoke. It was hot, like a brand. Kaelen appeared, his suit jacket gone and his white shirt covered in blood. He looked like a demon rising from the flames.

"We have to go! Now!" he yelled over the roar of the fire.

"The other Alphas!" I pointed toward the stairs, which were now a wall of flames. "They’re trapped!"

"They are already out," Kaelen said, pulling me toward a dark tunnel in the back of the basement. "My warriors were waiting. They cleared the room the second the first bomb went off. But Harden... he’s getting away."

The name acted like a shot of adrenaline. My pain disappeared. My muscles tightened. Harden. The man who killed my father’s dream. The man who tried to kill me twice.

"Where?" I asked, my voice cold.

"The helipad behind the mansion," Kaelen said. "He has a pilot waiting. If he makes it to the air, we lose him."

I didn't wait for Kaelen to lead the way. I sprinted into the tunnel. My wolf was screaming for blood. I could smell Harden’s scent; it was a mix of expensive cologne and the sour smell of fear.

We burst out of the tunnel and into the cool night air. The mansion behind us was a giant torch, lighting up the sky. In the distance, I heard the thud-thud-thud of helicopter blades.

I saw them. Harden was dragging a sobbing Cassidy toward a small black helicopter. He was shoving her forward, using her to block the wind from the blades.

"Harden!" I roared.

He froze. He turned around, his face twisted in horror. He looked at the burning mansion, then at me. He looked like a trapped animal.

"Stay back, Sylvia!" he yelled, pulling a silver pistol from his belt. "I’ll do it! I’ll kill you right now!"

"You couldn't kill me when I was a weak girl in chains," I said, walking toward him slowly. Each step felt like a drumbeat of justice. "What makes you think you can kill a queen?"

Harden fired.

The silver bullet hissed through the air. I didn't even duck. I tilted my head, and the bullet grazed my cheek, leaving a thin red line. I didn't feel the pain. I felt the power.

I shifted mid-stride. One second, I was a woman in a torn dress; the next, I was the massive white wolf. I leaped.

I hit Harden like a freight train. The gun flew out of his hand and skidded across the grass. I pinned him to the ground, my claws sinking into his shoulders. He screamed, a high-pitched sound that was music to my ears.

Cassidy fell to her knees, shaking. "Please! Sylvia! Take him! Just let me go!"

I ignored her. She was a mosquito. Harden was the snake.

I leaned my huge head down, my hot breath hitting Harden’s face. My violet eyes burned into his gray ones. “You killed my father,” I projected the thought into his mind. “You stole my life. You rejected your mate for a lie.”

"I’m sorry!" Harden sobbed, snot running down his nose. "I’ll give it all back! The pack, the money, everything! Just let me live!"

“The SilverLine Pack isn’t yours to give,” I growled. “It never was.”

I looked up. Kaelen was standing a few feet away, his arms crossed. He was watching me, waiting to see if I would finish it. He didn't move to help. He knew this was my moment.

I looked back at Harden. I could rip his throat out in one second. I could end the man who caused me five years of nightmares. My jaw tightened. I wanted to hear his bones crunch.

But then, I saw the mark I had left on him earlier. The Mark of the Outcast was glowing an ugly, bruised purple.

Killing him was too kind.

If he died now, he would be a fallen Alpha. If he lived, he would be a rogue. He would have no pack, no power, and no name. He would spend the rest of his life begging for scraps in the forest, hunted by every wolf who knew of his betrayal.

I leaned in and whispered one last thing into his mind. “Live with what you’ve done.”

I stood up and stepped off his chest. I shifted back into my human form, standing tall in the light of the fire.

"Kaelen," I said, not looking back. "Call your men. Take them to the Council. Let the law finish what they started."

Kaelen walked over and wrapped his arm around my waist. He kissed my forehead, his scent of rain and power calming my racing heart. "You did well, Sylvia. You are more of a queen than this world deserves."

I looked at the burning mansion. My past was turning to ash. The "nerd" with the glasses was gone. The betrayed girl was gone.

"What now?" Kaelen asked.

"Sylvia?" he gasped. "No... you’re dead. You were a nerd! You were nothing!""I was your mate," I said, stepping over Cassidy’s shaking body. "But tonight, I am your nightmare."Suddenly, the front doors of the hall burst open. A group of men in black tactical gear rushed in, pointing silver-tipped crossbows at everyone."Nobody moves!" a man shouted.I looked at the leader of the gunmen. My heart dropped. He was wearing a crest I hadn't seen in years. It was the mark of the Blood Moon Pack, the enemies who helped kill my father. But then, the leader looked at Harden and smiled. "Good job, Alpha Harden. You lured all the world leaders into one room for us. Just like we planned."I turned to Harden. "You set a trap? You sold out the whole wolf world just to save your skin?"Harden looked at me, then at the gunmen. A sick, desperate smile grew on his face. "I had to, Sylvia! They promised to make me king if I gave them Kaelen!"The gunmen aimed their weapons at Kaelen. But before they c

He didn't attack. He shifted right there in front of me, turning into a man with silver hair and a body like a god. It was the Lycan King, the man even Alphas were terrified of.He walked toward me, his scent filling the room. It smelled like rain and power. He pinned me against the wall, his eyes burning into mine."I've been looking for you for a long time, little wolf," he growled, his voice vibrating against my chest. "Did you think you could run from your True Mate?"I stood frozen against the wall. The Lycan King, Kaelen Thorne, was so close I could feel the heat coming off his skin. He was the most powerful man in the world. He ruled over all Alphas with a fist of iron. And now, he was looking at me like he wanted to eat me alive."My... True Mate?" I whispered. My heart was thumping against my ribs. This couldn't be happening. I was a rejected wolf. I was supposed to be broken. But the way my body hummed when he touched me told a different story. My inner wolf, the White Wolf,

Suddenly, the guards stopped. They screamed in terror as a blinding, silver light began to explode from my body, melting the silver chains like they were made of wax. What was happening to me?The silver light was blinding. It burned hotter than the sun, but it didn't hurt me. It hurt the guards holding my chains. They screamed and let go, clutching their hands as the metal melted into puddles of liquid silver in the dirt.I stood up. My body felt different. I felt tall. I felt dangerous."What is this?" Harden yelled from the stage. His face was pale. He wasn't the proud Alpha anymore; he looked like a scared boy. "Capture her! She is using dark magic!""It’s not magic, you coward!" a voice shouted from the back of the crowd. My mother, Madame Helena, pushed through the pack members. She wasn't alone. Five of the pack’s strongest warriors were with her, their eyes glowing with loyalty, not to Harden, but to her."Run, Sylvia!" my mother cried. "Into the woods! Now!"I didn't wait. I

I stood in front of the mirror, my fingers trembling as I touched the diamond necklace around my neck. It was cold, but it felt like a promise. Harden had given this to me when I was just ten years old."Tonight, Sylvia," I whispered to my reflection. "Tonight, you finally become his Luna."For ten years, I had lived for this moment. I wasn't the prettiest girl in the SilverLine Pack. I was the "nerd" who spent too much time with my nose in books and my glasses sliding down my nose. But Harden was different. He was the future Alpha, strong, handsome, and brave. And he was mine. The door creaked open. My mother, Madame Helena, walked in. She didn't look happy. She looked like she was mourning a death rather than celebrating a wedding."You look beautiful, Sylvia," she said, but her voice was flat. She reached out and touched the necklace. "You still wear this trinket? I told you, Harden is not the man you think he is. Being an Alpha is better than being a Luna. You have your own streng
