Chapter 1

Olivia Wallace

Cold prickled my skin, but I would rather not wake up. I dragged my legs up so that my knees are equal to my spine. The icy air biting into my skin made it clear that it was still early in the morning as I stayed there enjoying the sleep. I have the impression that I'm laying on something hard because the cold seems to come from the ground as well as the weather. I abruptly opened my eyes.

What happened to my bed??

I sprang up and shit, I am in new clothing made of silk, we are in a cabin, and my pack members are sprawled on the ground in a deep slumber. I swiped my hand over my face and the dizziness disappeared. There is an old wooden door at the other side of the room and I reached it and took a peek.

What I witnessed almost made me pee, slaves were strewn around, laboring and being tortured by guards, shit! Blood moon pack!

“Liv?” I heard my name and turned to find Cooper waking up.

“We were kidnapped by the blood moon pack," I hastily said, my heart beating faster than usual.

He joined me and peeped through the small hole.

“But that's not all. Can you use your power to wake Jake?”

He asked, and my gut told me that something worse was happening.

But I tried nonetheless, and as I lifted my hands to summon my powers, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, which I grasped. My legs were on the verge of collapsing.

What is happening?

I strengthened up, taking a deep breath, I extended my hands out in the air to try again.

“Ahh!” a loud bang vibrated in my head and my vision blurred as I hit the ground.

“Liv!” I heard Jake's voice, but it was Copper's arms around me, trying to get me up on my feet.

“What is wrong with you? " He raised his voice at Cooper, some members were startling awake by their noises. “Did you have to get her to test her powers just to prove a point when you fully know the effects of black magic?”

What?

I snapped my head towards him, the whatever ache I felt seconds ago vanishing from my body.

“It was to know if her energy is bigger than the black magic, since she's more powerful than us,” Cooper yelled back.

I looked up at him, “Black magic? What do you mean?”

He rolled his eyes, and ran his hand down my back as if I were choking on something.

“Yeah, black magic was used to block all our energy, we can't use or access them. So, basically, we are powerless here,” he explained.

My stomach churned, anger boiled in me and I fisted my hands. Using my powers is my favorite thing, I have to train with it, and I have to defeat my enemies with it.

I looked forward and stared at nothing,“ They perform sorcery,” I gritted my teeth as I said that.

How did I not think of this? In fact, how did we even get here? I remember mourning my father and next, I woke up in the North.

My father.

As if they knew what I was thinking, I heard some sniffles coming from my pack members, it's too painful to digest that we lost our Alpha, right now, we are Alpha-less.

Cooper continued, “They used a coven's portal to teleport us here. I don't think any of us knew when and how it happened, we were last together in your room.”

He sighed and tucked my silver hair behind my ear, he squeezed my arm and I know what's next.

“Liv, I am sorry for your-”

I raised my hand to stop him, if there's anything I hate most, it has to be the feeling of being pitied. I don't care what happened, but I would rather not be caught up in that.

I slid away from them and stood in front of my pack members, not only them, all pack members from the west too. My lips curled up in a pretty smile as I started to address them.

“What happened has happened, we can't take it back nor can we control it, but I assure everyone that henceforth, we are made stronger. Come what may, we will face all adversity with strength and hope, when you see the sun appear, remember the beautiful days that await us,” more sobs echoed in the cabin, my throat swelled but the last thing I will do is to cry in front of them.

I marched towards the door, Jake stepped in my way.

“Where are you going, Liv?” I held his hand and took Copper's too, looking out through the holes in the door.

“We are slaves to them, but we are born conquerors, they think they know us, but that was their mistake. Allow them to paint the pictures, they will rip the canvas themselves.”

Cooper's hand tightened in mine.

“That does not answer his question,” he tugged it, “you can't leave, outside is heavily guarded, and you won't even make it a mile before your head drops.”

Since I witnessed my father's death, I don't think I fear death.

I looked at Jake and replied, “Going to do what needs to be done.”

I snagged my hands from their protective clasp and shut the door behind me.

“Olivia!” I heard before it closed.

Like Cooper had said, I didn't make it a mile when I felt a sword pointed at my back. I slowly looked over my shoulder from my side eye, one of the guards cladded in head to toe armor pointed his sharp sword at my spine, a little push and it would draw blood.

Guess he is the one guarding our cabin.

I raised my hand in surrender, and shouted, “Peace! I just want to see the Alpha,” when he didn't move the sword I added, “I mean no harm, take me to the alpha, please.”

Slowly, he removed the sword and tucked it back in his sheath. Next, he grabbed my arms from behind and a metal ring went around my wrist, he tightened the hinge that I winced in pain.

I was forcefully dragged away, and as we passed some slaves that paused their work to throw a pity glance at me, I gulped, taking in their appearance. They looked so malnourished, I could make out their skeletal figures, and their hair was so unhealthy.

This was just a little of what I might face here, something about that makes bumps appear on my skin.

We entered another world, rather another part of the pack that looks entirely different from the slaves' territory, and my mouth almost dropped agape. It's a big castle with four towers, surrounded with creepers of different kinds and colours on the wall, and a large green water fountain in the middle.

For a pack like Blood moon, it's the least scenery I expected here, and I won't deny the fact that this is fascinating, looks more like a castle ruled by a kind-hearted prince.

We backed the long hallway decorated with a deep vivid red rug and candle stands on each side of the walls. We stopped before I heard a little whispering coming from one of the rooms and my anxiety riled up.

Closed my eyes before the door swung open and the smell of ganja filled my nostrils accompanied by loud laughter bouncing from the walls to my ears.

Once I opened my eyes, it went straight to the man sitting upon the throne made of animal fur, holding a pipe of smoke. Not enough lights in the room, but I saw his lips curled with mild amusement.

Zeddicus.

“Silver haired girl, hmm, I was thinking she will appear with wings,” someone said, and another laugh rang out. My eyes darted between the others flanking on the sides of the Alpha, I perceived to be the councils.

The guard pushed me inside fully, before he left. I thought of leaving with him because at that moment, it felt safer outside than here, which made me question what fate holds for me?

“I knew Wallace to be a soft and weak man, who would have thought he could give birth to a strong-minded girl,” one of the councils said.

Another chimed, “Strong and beautiful, hardcore, cute plump lips, tiny waist.”

“And wavy silver hair cascading down her back, just the way I like them."

Bile constricted my throat as they sexualized me, these old men who were probably twice my father's age and had grown up children at home, they looked so shameless and most likely followed their leader's footsteps. My head snapped towards the alpha, his eyes were pinned on me.

The evil man who killed my father and turned us to slaves is sitting right in front of me, and either I show him a piece of my blazing inferno or I coward my way out, and you know I won't waste this opportunity.

“How do you feel sitting up there? Like we should worship you and praise you for everything.”

“Exactly, what you will be doing in an hour,” he said. I didn't expect a reply from him, his voice was deep and smoky.

I trailed off, “For an alpha, you lack courage to be there,” I smiled beautifully, “You killed my father and used black magic on us while teleporting us here.”

“Why didn't you fight us? At least put on a show? You did it all behind our backs, and I thought that you should have come clean, one on one.” If there's anything I've learned, I know when someone is being a coward, I dropped my eyes.

This alpha is no different from a coward.

He didn't talk and none of them did, and finally, he said after a short silence.

“Your father used to be one of my goonies, he was charming and had a very soft personality, for a moment there I thought of giving him my sister for marriage,” as if remembering that was stupid, he smiled.

He shot out two fingers and beckoned me closer, my feet moved on their own until I stood a stretched arm away from him. I promise I didn't move, he used black magic on me.

He gripped my jaw, baring my teeth, and he took a long drag and released the smoke right in my face, “But he turned his back on me, instead of defending his friend and holding my shoulders, he joined hands with my enemies, and you know I don't tolerate betrayers. The rest is history.”

I didn't beg for this gist, but a nice one. Of course, it was his own side of the story, and I wonder what bozo will support a Funker like him.

Standing this close to him made me see his features well. If I didn't know him and saw him outside, I would mistake him for a respectable foreigner, but glad I don't judge by looks. Jet black hair with a brown bear plaited with beads attached to it, and a little mustache, goes perfect for a monster.

Trying not to snicker, I jerked my face away from his grip. I yanked the metal on my wrist, the noise filling the room.

“Well, take this away from me and give back my powers, make it fair and fight, and If you win, I will gladly see that I lost and will become your slave,” I put forth.

He breathed out a laugh in my face, shaking his head.

“Sounds like a kid enacting law,” he said, “I don't play fair, the last time I did I ended up wiping a pack of hundreds. We still want your little pack club, don't we?”

I knitted my brows at that insult,

“Be a darling and do it again with my pack, let's see the outcome this time,” I motioned to the room with my chin, “I believe everyone wants to see a fight play out between a silver haired kid and a ruthless Alpha King," I smirked.

Who wouldn't want that? Let's see if he feared our powers that he had to seize them.

“Hmm, sounds cool. I have a pack of coyotes in my vault. Once I take out the magic, every slave in this yard will be dead. They perceive slaves,” he laughed and others joined as they laughed in mockery.

My jaw clenched, and before I could reply…

“Collar!” he shouted and I heard the door bang with force.

He switched to a deadly expression, and a cold shiver ran down my spine.

The councils began to stand and cackled as they did.

The guard appeared and encircled the collar around my neck and my long hair was trapped in it too. My helplessness flashed before me.

It felt like another pound was added to my body as everything was too heavy, the weighty collar made it hard to turn my neck and the coldness of the iron stings.

The guard started to drag me out, and more footsteps tread behind me.

“Let's see how far your mouth could take you,” I heard before the door opened, followed by scornful laughs.
