**ARIA'S POV**

I woke to pain.

Not the sharp kind that made you scream. The dull, throbbing kind that settled deep in your bones and wouldn't leave. Every muscle in my body ached. My thighs. My hips. Between my legs where he'd–

I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to stop the memories from coming. Forced myself to believe last night hadn't happened.

But the memories came anyway, sharp and unavoidable.

I couldn't help but remember his hands on me. His mouth on my neck. The way he'd moved inside me with that relentless rhythm until I'd shattered beneath him. The way I'd wrapped my legs around him and pulled him deeper when I should have been fighting to push him away.

I pressed my face into the pillow and tried not to cry. I tried so hard not to think about how my body had betrayed me, and about the sick, twisted part of me that had wanted more.

I was lying in my own room. The narrow one with stone walls that pressed in from every side. He must have brought me back while I wa

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 26 - The Hunt Begins

**CAELAN'S POV** I stood at the window of my study, looking down at the training grounds. The sun was almost completely out of the sky, but pack warriors still sparred and trained without interruption. I should have been down there teaching them a few things, growing my army but my mind couldn't settle. My wolf paced endlessly in my mind. I still hadn't found her, still didn't know who had done this. And the entire pack already knew what was going on, the news spread like wildfire. The breeder has escaped. Why would she be stupid enough to run again? She clearly hadn’t learned her lesson the first time. A big mistake. Three sharp knocks pulled me out of my thoughts. I knew who it was already. “Enter.” Darius stepped inside, closing the door quietly behind him. "Speak," I said without turning. "I sent an informant to the border towns yesterday. He returned an hour ago," he said, “and he brought information." I turned to face him then. "What kind?" "About the human’

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 25 - The Price of Freedom

**ARIA'S POV**The room's walls were polished. A wide bed sat in the corner dressed in dark silk, and an iron barred window that let in little light. It reminded me too much of the auction pens, although it was nothing compared to it. That place was a hell I could never imagine going back to.This...this was just a holding cell. I could survive it.I sat at the edge of the bed, mind racing. I kept my hands clasp in front of me to avoid getting too comfortable. But how? Why? Questions blurred in my ears, questions I didn't have any answers to.A single tear slipped free before I could stop it.I wiped it away immediately, pressing the heel of my hand against my cheek hard enough to hurt.No.I wouldn't cry. I needed to figure out what was going on despite the terror clawing at my throat. The door flung open without warning. Two guards walked in. One of them was scarred almost everywhere. He held a tray of food and water and dropped it on the floor near the bed and stepped back, w

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 24 - The Silence After

**CAELAN'S POV**Something was wrong. The feeling hit me as I approached the gates. Guards stood too still in the courtyard, servants suddenly discovered urgent tasks that required them to look anywhere but at me.The air tasted different. I dismounted and handed the reins to an omega who took them with trembling fingers, his eyes fixed firmly on the ground."Alpha," my Beta said, appearing at my side too quickly, his voice carefully neutral in a way that immediately set me on edge."Talk," I said.He hesitated. That alone told me everything and nothing at once."The human," he began, and my spine went rigid. "She's not in your chambers."I couldn't deny the shock I felt. So she tried again. And this time it seems she had succeeded.I turned to look at him fully, letting the silence stretch until he shifted his weight. “Go on.""The maids went to attend to her this morning and found the room empty." His words came faster now. "We've searched everywhere. No signs of struggle, no force

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 23 - Not Free, Just Taken

**ARIA'S POV** The torchlight blinded me and I froze, terror locking every muscle in my body. For one horrible heartbeat I was certain it was Caelan, that he'd found me already, that my escape had failed before it truly began. But when the figure stepped closer and the light shifted across his face, I realized something was wrong. This wolf wasn't angry or vengeful or any of the things I'd expected. He looked calm, his expression unreadable as he studied me with the detached interest of someone appraising livestock. “Come with me," he said, his voice low and steady. "I—" My voice came out as barely a whisper. "I'm leaving. You can't make me stay here." He tilted his head slightly, watching me, "Follow me." "No," I said, shaking my head as I backed away until cold stone pressed against my spine. "No…I won't–You cant–" "You don't have a choice," he said simply, and something about the flatness in his tone made my blood turn to ice. "Who are you?" I demanded, clenchi

**ARIA'S POV**Elara opened the door just enough to peer into the hallway, then slipped back inside and shut it with care."Staying too long would raise suspicion," she whispered. "I'll come back later. Wait for me."I watched her go, my chest tightened with unease and hope tangled so close together I couldn't tell them apart anymore. The door closed softly and I was alone again. My thoughts spiraled in a thousand directions at once, each one pulling me somewhere different.Freedom felt close enough to touch now, and that made everything feel sharper, louder. Every sound in the hallway made me flinch. Every creak of the floorboards made my heart jump.Time stretched endlessly and nothing settled the restlessness crawling under my skin.I kept looking at the map Elara had left me, tracing the lines with my fingertips.Time stretched. Then, three soft knocks.I knew who it was before I reached for the door.Elara.I opened the door without hesitation, relief flooding through me like col

  • The Alpha's Breeding Pet    Chapter 21 — The Map Beneath the Walls

**ARIA'S POV**I walked through the halls like a ghost, and the word followed me everywhere.Escape.It whispered in my mind with every breath, with every heartbeat.I kept my head down, hands clasped in front of me as usual, trying to look like nothing happened even though I had just been offered the one thing I'd dreamed about since the night Caelan bought me.A wolf passed me in the corridor. He glanced at me, just a quick look, but it felt like he knew what I was thinking. So I walked faster.Another wolf stood near a doorway with his arms crossed, watching me as I walked. Were they always watching this closely? Or was it just me?My chest felt tight, like someone had wrapped iron bands around my ribs and was squeezing tighter with every step.I reached Caelan's chambers and pushed the door open, slipping inside quickly. The room was empty. Thank the gods.I closed the door and leaned against it, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding. But even here I didn't feel safe.
