I leaned against the wall of the empty sports auditorium, trying to catch my breath.

"Thank you," I said again. "Both of you. I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't stepped in."

Kassie shrugged, examining her nails. "Agnes has needed to be taken down a peg for a while now."

Isaac stood beside me, his expression concerned. "Are you okay, Lou? That was pretty brutal."

"I'm fine." I wasn't, but saying it out loud might make me cry again. "I just... why do they hate me so much? I haven't done anything to them."

"You're human," Kassie said bluntly. "And you got into the Academy when hundreds of wolves didn't. That's enough."

"Kassie," Isaac said, his voice chiding.

"What? I'm just being honest." She looked at me. "They see you as someone who doesn't deserve to be here. Someone who only got in because of... special circumstances."

I laughed bitterly. "You mean because they think I slept with your brother."

"Did you?" Kassie asked, her eyes sharp.

"Kassie!" Isaac looked horrifie

I staggered backward, my hand still clutching my wrist where he has grabbed me."Asher, what’s wrong with you!?”He moved so fast I didn't see it coming. One moment he was across the room, the next his hands were in my hair and his mouth was crushing against mine.I should have pushed him away but I melted immediately. His scent surrounded me and his kiss was aggressive, nothing like the one in the forest. And God help me, I liked it.I kissed him back just as desperately, my hands fisting in his shirt. He backed me against the desk, his body pressing against mine. His hand found my breast, squeezing roughly through my uniform. I gasped into his mouth and he swallowed the sound, his tongue claiming every part of me.We roamed each other's bodies frantically. My fingers tangled in his hair. His hands gripped my hips, my waist, sliding under my blazer.I could feel his hardness against my stomach and a moan escaped my throat. His mouth moved to my neck, biting and sucking at the sensiti

Kassie was still laughing as we walked through the palace entrance together. We were just getting back from school and she was practically glued to my side, talking endlessly. She was currently sharing a story of how she got into skating and I listened with enthusiasm. "And then I fell face-first into the bushes!" she said, wiping tears from her eyes. "My instructor said I had the worst balance he had ever seen in a student."I couldn't help but laugh. "At least you tried. The first time I went to the skating rink, I didn't even make it five feet before I landed on my butt.""Wait, humans have skating rinks?" Kassie looked genuinely surprised."Yeah, of course we do." I set my bag down by the entrance. "There's one in the lower district. It's not fancy or anything, but it's fun.""I just assumed..." She trailed off, looking uncomfortable."That we don't have fun?" I teased gently. "That we just work and suffer all the time?""Well, when you put it like that, it sounds bad." She fidg

Stanley's POVI leaned against the wall, watching the scene unfold with mild amusement.Agnes had cornered Louisa in the middle of the hallway. A crowd had gathered, phones out, eager for drama.“… spread your legs for the right wolf," Agnes was saying, her voice dripping with venom.I smirked. It was about time someone put the human in her place.Isaac was trying to defend her, of course. Standing there with his pathetic sense of honor, like it would make any difference. The boy was too soft. Always had been.Agnes's friends circled closer, their voices getting louder and more accusatory. While Louisa just stood there, looking small and vulnerable.Good. Let her learn what it really meant to be here. Let her understand that she didn't belong, no matter what strings Asher pulled. But then Kassie appeared. She pushed through the crowd with the kind of authority that made people step aside automatically. Her face was hard, and her eyes blazing."Agnes," Kassie said, her voice cutting t

"And that's why understanding the Treaty of Silver Moon is crucial to comprehending modern wolf-human relations," Professor Hayes was saying, pacing at the front of the classroom. "The compromises made during that period still affect our societal structure today."I scribbled notes furiously, trying to capture everything when the bell rang loudly.Professor Hayes closed her book with a snap. "We'll continue from here next week. Read chapters four through six for homework."The moment she stepped out of the classroom, it felt like a dark cloud was removed immediately. Students jumped up from their seats, grabbing their bags and talking loudly. Within seconds, people were streaming toward the door.I sat there, confused. What was happening? Was class over for the day?I turned to the boy beside me, the one who had shifted his desk away earlier. "Excuse me, where is everyone going?"He slipped on headphones and walked out without even glancing at me.I looked around, surprised to see th

We arrived at the Academy together, and the moment the car stopped, Stanley was the first one out.He strolled through the entrance without a word, not even a glance back but I didn't mind. I was too busy staring up at the building with wonder.I was actually here as a student.I looked down at my uniform and how everything fit perfectly, even the fabric felt expensive against my skin.It felt surreal, like I might wake up any second and find out this was all a dream."Are you coming?"I blinked. Kassie stood a few feet away, waiting for me. She looked different today, almost... friendly?"Yes, sorry." I hurried to catch up with her.We walked through the main entrance together. Students streamed past us in every direction, all wearing the same uniform but somehow making it look unique. Some had their blazers unbuttoned while others had rolled up their sleeves."I can show you to your classroom," Kassie offered. "Since it's your first day."I looked at her suspiciously. "That's... ni
