ASHER’S POV

I watched her run from my study like I was death itself.

Good. That's exactly how it should be.

But something uncomfortable twisted in my chest as the door slammed behind her.

I could still taste her fear in the air. It had flooded the room the moment I'd grabbed her wrist.

Most of me hated seeing that terror in her eyes. But a dark part of me, the part I tried to keep locked away, had liked it.

I liked knowing I had that much power over her. That one word, one look, one touch cou

Louisa’s POVThe two alphas stood facing each other in the hallway, the tension crackling between them like electricity.Draven's smirk hadn't faded and Asher's expression remained furious.I felt like I was watching two predators size each other up, and I was the prey caught between them."Alpha Draven!" Yelena's voice cut through the standoff. She appeared from around the corner with a bright smile. "What a pleasure to have you here! I trust your rooms are to your satisfaction?"Draven's attention shifted to her immediately, his smirk transforming into a charming smile. "Yelena. As beautiful as ever. The accommodations are perfect, thank you.""Wonderful! I was just about to have breakfast prepared for you and the King. Perhaps we could discuss the menu?" She shot me a look that I understood clearly. And I didn't need to be told twice.I slipped past them quickly, but I couldn't help glancing back.Asher was staring at me with those intense mismatched eyes. I looked away and kept wa

Louisa’s POVI woke up with a huge arm draped over my waist abd warm, minty breath tickling the back of my neck.My eyes flew open almsot immediately as realization hit me. I was still in Asher's bed, and we had spent the night together after….With my face flaming, I turned my head carefully and looked at him.He was asleep, snoring softly and a smile tugged at my lips. I turned to look at him properly, marveled by how peaceful he looked. The hard lines around his mouth had softened and his mismatched eyes were closed, dark lashes resting against his cheeks. My hand lifted before I could stop it, reaching toward his face and wanting to trace the line of his jaw. There was a piece of hair that had fallen across his forehead and I wanted to smooth it back. Then reality crashed back and I yanked my hand away, my heart thudding terribly fast. What was I doing? What was I even thinking?Last night had been a mistake. A moment of weakness for both of us. We were too caught up in whate

Asher’s POVI knew I shouldn’t be doing this but I couldn’t help myself, not with the way my wolf was pushing and begging for me to cave into more. My entire body was vibrating with need and a feral kind of want was coursing through me. The moment I kissed her, she gasped against my lips, and I swallowed the sound, kissing her desperately like she was oxygen and I was drowning. She kissed me back. Her hands fisted in my shirt, pulling me closer. When her lips parted, letting me in deeper, I wasted no time in plunging my tongue into her mouth, tasting caramel and mint and something else that made my head spin. My hands found her waist, her hips, sliding up to cup her full breasts through the tight fabric of her uniform. She moaned into my mouth, and the sound nearly destroyed me.‘Mate,’ my wolf sang in triumph. ‘Ours. Finally touching our mate.’I peppered kisses down her jaw to her throat, tasting her skin. She tilted her head back, giving me access, her fingers tangling in my ha

Louisa's POVI got back to the palace feeling numb. The whole place was in chaos and even the air felt charged with frantic energy. The Moon Festival preparations were in full swing. Yelena spotted me the moment I walked in and immediately rushed over."There you are! Go change into your serving uniform.” She said without giving me a moment to talk. “The Alpha needs his lunch in fifteen minutes."My stomach dropped. "Actually, I'm not feeling well.”"You look well enough to me." Yelena pressed a hand to my forehead and I reeled back. "I heard about what happened at school. I'm sorry, child. But right now, I need you to focus. We're understaffed with all these preparations."There was no getting out of this. I nodded and headed to my room. When I pulled on my uniform, I noticed immediately that it was tighter than usual. The fabric pulled across my chest and hips in a way it hadn't before.I stared at myself in the small mirror, turning to the side.Had I put on weight? I ate better at

Mia stood up and stretched. "Well, since you're clearly not dying, I'm going to head out. I have a paper to work on.""Already?" I asked, disappointed."Some of us actually have to study," she teased. "Unlike certain people who seem to charm their way through everything."I rolled my eyes, knowing she just threw another jab at Kassie again. Luckily Kassie did not catch her words, or maybe she did and just chose to ignore it. Kassie pouted. "I was going to stay a while.""Actually," Isaac interrupted, looking uncomfortable. "I need to talk to Lou in private."Everyone went quiet. Mia and Kassie exchanged glances."About what?" Kassie asked suspiciously."Personal stuff," Isaac said firmly. The awkwardness was palpable but Mia grabbed her bag quickly."Right. Well. I'll see you later, Lou." She paused at the door. "And feel better.""Thanks, Mia."Kassie looked like she wanted to argue about staying, but finally sighed. "Fine. But I’ll come to you after, okay? I want to make sure you'r

  • The Alpha’s Captive Bride: Fated in chains    Chapter 55

Louisa's POVWhen I woke up, my head pounded like someone was using it as a drum. I groaned and tried to sit up, but a gentle hand pushed me back down."Easy now," a soft voice said. "Don't move too quickly."I blinked several times, trying to bring the world into focus. A woman in a white uniform leaned over me."Where am I?" My voice came out scratchy."The Academy infirmary. You hit your head quite badly." She pulled out a small light and shined it in my eyes. "Follow the light with your eyes, please. Don't move your head."I did as she asked, wincing at the brightness."Good. Pupils are responsive." She checked my pulse, then pressed her fingers gently against the back of my skull. I hissed in pain. "You have a nasty bump back there, but no signs of serious concussion. You're very lucky.""Lucky," I muttered. "Right.""Well, someone was watching out for you today," a sarcastic voice said from somewhere to my right.I turned my head and saw Stanley sitting in a chair against the wa
