Imprinted on the Mortal catalyst

MARCUS P.O.V

It happened when I least expected it. finally I won't have to roam the earth in search of my mate, the pressure laid on me by my park is over. I found her. Alicia, I could never forget her name. Soon the howl of my reign will begin nevertheless my only mistake was not spending more time with her all for the desire to bring the good news to the ears of my father, Harold Dominik who was the Alpha male.

With my mind filled with unspeakable happiness when I walked out of the camp, I ran— I ran so fast swinging my arms in the air and when I got far enough from the camp I dived into the woods as I shape shifted into my wolf form.

'Alicia… Alicia,' I found myself reciting her name over and again while my paws dashed hard against the ground and after a long run I arrived at our place of assembly.

To keep our identity hidden from the humans we hid in a cave in a mountain at the middle part of the island where we assembled once every month except for the autumn season which we gather every evening to know our new tribe members and also to celebrate the autumn full moon and on normal days we live among the humans except that we never leave the island since across the sea lies other werewolf territories.

I transformed back to my human form as I swiftly entered the cave then made my way through the short passageway into the large hall which was filled up with our park members who were making merry since it was the first autumn full moon celebration of the year.

As usual, Harold was seated on a chiefly seat which was towards the right side with my mother, Lisa beside him and not willing to interrupt the celebration I moved privately to Lisa's side. "Mother I have something to tell you,"

"What is it?" she stared curiously when she noticed the sparks of excitement over my face.

"I finally found my mate,"

"What, that is a great news. Your father should hear this,"

I tried to stop her because I knew if it got to Harold's ears he would make a scene but it was too late as she had already whispered it to him.

Without hesitation he stood up and when they saw him rise, they stopped playing the music. "Attention people, an amazing piece of information just reached my ears. To add to tonight's celebration my son, Marcus Dominik had finally imprinted on his mate," he turned to me with a prudent smile. "Come on son,"

'Shit!' I exclaimed within myself as I walked up to his side with a fake smile. He held me by the shoulder then looked forward to the people and immediately, they began to cheer my name.

When Harold had calmed them down he turned again to me. "Tell us. What is her name and what werewolf family does she come from?"

I saw the expectation in the people's eyes but I was certain that they would be displeased when they heard that I had imprinted on a human.

"Her name is Alicia, She isn't a werewolf, she is a human,"

Immediately after my statement they began to murmur and seeing this I turned again to Harold as I could see the disappointment in his eyes.

"That is enough!" Lisa stood up from her seat after a while. "I am not supposed to speak but regarding my son's case, we all know that it isn't a crime for our clan to mate a human whereas she will certainly have to become one of us if she must carry our child. If nature had chosen her as the next lunar then she will be fit to carry out the duty,"

While she was still speaking a werewolf ran in aggressively and without doubt I recognized it was Aracely as she transformed to a human form. She was the grandmother of the former Beta to the late Alpha who was my grandfather. She was also one of the eldest werewolf and the last surviving seer in our tribe.

The people were keen to hear her out because she mostly showed up each time there was an important message to pass.

"Aracely," Harold said as she bowed to him. "What brings you here?"

"I fear that our doom Is upon us Harold,"

"What doom?"

"The mortal catalyst who will give birth to the fatal child has shown up. I have sensed her presence in the Island. If she is not killed the Guardian werewolf will be born and when that happens the child will bring an end to our clan and all others like us. We must not let that happen,"

The place was quiet for a moment as I could see the deep fear in the eyes of the people.

"Do you have a clue of where she is?" Harold asked.

"No, but I think this will help us find her," she took out a necklace with a glass pendant from her pocket. "When it gets close to the mortal it will alter to a red colour."

I never liked seeing my clan in fear so I stepped out towards her. "Let me have the necklace. I will find her,"

"No Marcus, I don't want your hands stained in blood, someone else should do it," Lisa said when I took the necklace and I turned to her.

"What use is a hair who cannot defend his own people? Don't worry mother, I will bring this human to you," I left their midst immediately after my statement.

They say whenever a man goes hunting he should first start from his surroundings and if he doesn't find his prey he could go further, and in my case the camp was the right spot to begin my hunt.

Under the morning sun, I launched down from a cliff into a river with some of the youths which I had joined for a swim 20 miles away from camp.

My two friends Ronald and Wilfred who were also among my park were with us. They were not the only werewolves who joined the camping, neither were they the only ones who joined us for a swim but they were at least the ones who were most close to me.

I never wanted to go swimming but Ronald, who was so competitive, persuaded me and Wilfred on the other hand wouldn't back down when he is challenged but he always loved me participating in anything they were doing.

It was a challenge on who would make it first to the river bank and as supposed I did beat them and being the first to arrive I walked out of the water. I was only wearing my swimming–trunk just as everyone who had gotten into the river.

"Damn it! you're so good," Wilfred ran out of the water as he swung his left arm around my shoulder and when Ronald was out he admitted defeat nevertheless they asked me If I would like to go for another round but I turned them down as I joined the people who were on the right side of the cliff.

while standing beside my motorcycle an Irish skin coloured young lady approached me with a bright smile on her face.

"Hello," she said as I turned to her. "You were good out there,"

"Yeah, thanks,"

"I am Cassie,"

"Marcus," We exchanged handshakes as I could see the obsession in her eyes and having a heightened sense as a werewolf, I knew that she desired to get into a relationship with me.

"Do you mind grabbing a drink with me when we get to the camp or later in the evening?"

"Not really, I would be busy by then," I said after a brief hesitation then looked further behind her as I spotted Alicia seated alone on a short cut down tree.

It wasn't surprising I would recognize her despite that our first encounter was a short one. I wasn't a type that loved being pushy on ladies rather I preferred it when they come after me but to get her attention I had to engage her in a conversation. The plan was to make her notice me and afterwards I'll give her some space. It would be difficult since I had already imprinted on her but I knew she would come around because no lady who has met me has ever rejected my person.

"Excuse me," I walked out on Cassie who unawares had been speaking to me as I made my way towards Alicia.

"Hello," I said when I stopped beside her as she turned to me. She looked beautiful and innocent with her curled brunette hair packed up but I couldn't tell the emotions hidden in her bright eyes when they captured me.

"Hi," She looked away as I gently sat beside her.

"Did you come alone?"

"No, I came with my friends," She furrowed her face slightly then glanced at the bracelet she was holding.

I recognized it but I wasn't sure where I had seen it before. "What is that?" I asked as she looked at me and back again at the bracelet.

"Nothing, it's just a gift," she heaved a sigh then turned to me. "You did good back there, since when did you learn to swim that well?"

"I grew up in this island and have been a swimmer since five years old,"

"So you haven't left the Island ever since,"

"No," I answered, still pondering where I had seen the bracelet.

"Your necklace… it's glowing," her words caught me off my thoughts as I looked at my chest.

I was startled when I saw the red colour of the pendant and immediately I recalled the words of Aracely. 'Whoever you come in contact with and the pendant alters to a red colour she is the Link, you must kill her.'
