Unbelievable reality : shape shifters

ALICIA'S P.O.V

I didn't see his face clearly last night but when I saw him walk out of the river I couldn't take my eyes off, his fair skin, comely stature and exceptional looks made him outstanding but when I noticed my thoughts was getting out of hand I felt like an Idiot. It wasn't as if he was ever going to speak to me again but next thing I knew he was standing right next to me.

I felt the pressure when he sat beside me but I messed up — I always do.

For a few minutes I acted like I never felt a thing while deep down was a strange longing for him to stay a little longer.

I kept repeating those lies to myself but that wasn't until i saw his necklace pendant glitter and even more strange after he left in a haste.

This was the second time he left me puzzled, everything about him was so strange; his glittering eyes last night and now a glowing pendant. I had to find out whatever he was hiding, I knew I had to.

immediately after he left I felt like i was being watched and when I had turned towards my left I saw the same young man who had grabbed my arm last night standing beside a tree.

Luther,' I recalled his name when I set my eyes on him and with a wicked stare I watched him vanish into the woods.

That was the last time Marcus ever approached me. Minutes turned into hours and hours into days, the sun rose and set and camping activities went on. I saw him everyday but he was mostly with his two friends and each time I was to approach him he would always leave, he treated me like a pledge, I hated it, but the more he avoided me the more stronger my longing to be with him grew.

"Alicia, are you alright?" Katherine asked each day she walked inside the cabin and saw me alone in bed.

"Yeah, I'm okay," at least that was my response to her and Kelvin every time they asked.

My interest in participating in camp activities quenched when I noticed Marcus withdraw himself.

Why did he get to talk to me in the first place? Why did I get to see him? I found myself deep in regret.

A week passed and being fed up I was determined to confront him– willing to know the reason he had been treating me like crap. I left the cabin as I walked to the campground and luckily I spotted him under one of the trees and as usual he was with his friends but the moment he saw me coming he stood up as he left their midst heading far up to the mountain.

The cloud was moist and after a few thunder strikes it started raining but I still followed him up, it never mattered if I got wet or not.

"Hey! Marcus," I called after we had gone some meters away from the camp environment but he never turned. "Marcus," I ran up to him as I held him by the hand and he turned to me.

I could see his furious gaze and the deep hate In his eyes and for a few seconds I couldn't recognise him.

"Why have you been avoiding me? Why are you treating me like a pledge, is that what I am?"

"Stay away from me Alicia, it's for your own good," he tried to be calm but when he was about to leave I stopped him again.

"No, you have to explain now. You have been the one walking out on me, you have been the mysterious person in the scene. You don't even know me and yet you treat me like crap, tell me, is there anything wrong? If there is just spit it out,"

"You know what, you are right. I don't even know you. You are only a random girl I saved from an aggressive man, I have helped many other people and you are no different. I hate people stalking me so just go, Let's act like we didn't meet in the first place,"

Those words pierced deep into my heart as he drew his hand out of my feeble hold and staring at him he left under the rain.

With my clothes soaked in the rain and my eyes wet, I watched him vanish. I never knew why it hurt so much, we weren't dating but throughout the night I wept silently.

The next morning, I came out to the camp ground to see if he was there only to find out that he wasn't, I saw his friends but I never bothered to ask them of his whereabouts. The next day I checked again but still he didn't show up, this continued for days but there was no night that I never dreamt of him and after another week since his disappearance I gave up, I decided to move on with my life and forget that he ever existed.

"I guess you two will be going out for the game," i said with when Katherine and Kelvin walked into the cabin.

"Yes. Will you be coming with us?" Katherine asked.

"Yeah," I answered as her eyes widened surprise and a glittering smile displayed on Kelvin's face.

Kelvin had always checked up on me regularly throughout the time I had been down. He thought I was sick so he had also suggested to call my father several times so that we could discuss over the phone but I prevented him.

"Wow! That's great," Kelvin rushed towards me as he embraced me. "You won't regret this, I'm so glad to have you back,"

"Stop the blabbering Kelvin, she will be on my team," Katherine interrupted as he turned around to her.

"Well you are wrong, she is with me,"

"Alright let's allow her to make a decision. Alicia you know that we had been friends since high-school whereas we are girls. It's a girls thing, isn't it?" she said as they both looked at me expectantly.

I stared at them for a while. "It's a girls thing Kelvin, I'm sorry,"

"Yeah... it's alright, I'm not hurt at all," he turned to Katherine who danced her way towards me and In a short time we left to play the game.

It was fun since there were many participants and for the first time in two weeks I was able to get my mind off Marcus— I could breathe and smile flowed down my face easily while I played 'team scavenger hunt' and many others.

I met a few people who added colour to my day, most of them were silly, some were brave, some rude and others kind nevertheless they were all exceptional with different personalities but some hours after the game, during sunset when the environment was quiet and almost everyone had gone in I saw Luther again but this time he was leaving the camp territory.

He didn't notice me but being suspicious I followed him. I had to find out the reason he had been stalking me and possibly I would also have answers to Marcus' strange behaviour.

I traced him some miles away from the camp into a forest while I kept my distance so that I won't be caught and while I walked it got darker and he wasn't stopping.

I was tired but determined to to know where he was going I went on and after several turns in the forest I noticed he began moving slowly and finally he stopped.

Without hesitation I hid behind a tree which was close then peeped from the side to see what was doing.

"I know you are there, come out now," he said and for a few seconds i wasn't sure who he was speaking to but not until he screamed out my name.

Gripped in fear I hid again behind the tree as my heart began to race.

"I will count to three and if you don't come out I will force you out myself; I would prefer you make this easier but anyhow you are still going to die,"

I had already gone a long way and I wasn't sure how to escape all I could do was defend myself.

While he was counting I looked on the floor as I saw a hard wood so I picked it up

"Alicia!" he screamed my name the second time and when I looked again, his eyes were directly on me.

As soon as I realised i was no longer hidden I stepped out from behind the tree as I held the wood firmly in case he attacked me.

Standing about fifteen feet’s away from him I could see the hate In his eyes when he glanced at the wood i was holding. "I noticed that you have been stalking me for days now and I will like to know why,"

"So it's true, you are the Catalyst. I wonder why my foolish cousin brother would not present you to his own father. He isn't fit to be the next Alpha if he can't carry out a simple duty. Despite that his foolish father banished me from the park I would still be delighted to bring your dead body to him,"

"What are you talking about?" I watched his countenance go darker and in a split second I saw the most terrific scene of my life.

His eyes altered to a yellowish colour as his teeth lengthen to fangs, his hands curled into claws and his flesh sprouted into a thick coat of four.

I couldn't believe my sight, i thought werewolves were only a fantasy but right before my eyes I had seen one turn, they had been amongst us for a long time but their identity was hidden in a fleshly entity and the one staring at me wasn't going to think twice before ripping my head off.

The wood dropped off my feeble hold when I heard the werewolf rumble and without thinking twice I fled, running as fast as my feet could carry me although I never knew where I was heading but certainly the werewolf was on my trail.

In no less time I burst out of the woods into a crossroad which narrowed horizontally but what use was it if there was another thick forest across.

I knew this was a dead end and even though I take the horizontal road I will get killed because its sight was endless.

When I was about to enter the other part of the forest I noticed a flash of light toward my direction and when I looked left I saw a motorcycle riding towards me.

I didn't hesitate but turned running as fast as I could towards the approaching vehicle. "Help, please stop!" I screamed and when the vehicle was about seven feet’s away the young man held his brake.

He came down from the ride as he approached me but dazzled by the light ray of his motorcycle I wasn't able to see him clearly.

"Alicia," He said and when I recognized that it was Marcus I moved closer as I wrapped my arms around his shoulder.

"I want to go home, please take me back,'' I said while panting and in a short time we got on the motorcycle.

During our ride back to the camp he never uttered a word to me but drove speedily and when we arrived at the cabin he came down from the motorcycle as he hurried inside.

Puzzled at the reason for his haste I followed him only to find out that Kelvin and Katherine were not inside, and that instant I knew that they must be searching for me.

I could feel my head pounding with many complex questions about what I saw earlier popping in my mind and although I was stressed out another part of me was desperate to go in search of my friends.

"What are you doing?" I asked when I saw Marcus squatted down beside my bag as he was quickly packing it up with a serious countenance.

"You have to leave this place,"

"What? No, I'm not leaving. Stop that," I walked towards him when he stood on his feet.

"Here is no longer safe for you Alicia,"

"What is going on? I have to find my friends,"

"They will be safe, I will make sure they are but you have to leave," he hurried out of the cabin and without hesitation I went after him.

"Marcus, you have to stop," I followed him down to his motorcycle. "Stop this now, I have to rest. I'm tired," I said when he placed my bag on his ride and afterwards he turned to me.

"Don't make this hard for me Alicia, just get in, we don't have much time left,"

I knew I couldn't stop him nor would he reveal the reason behind his actions so I had to bring the truth out myself even though I had no idea what the outcome would be.

"I know what you are," I said when he was about to get on the bike as he stopped then looked back at me. "I know you are not human, you are a werewolf."
