"How is she?" I asked from the healer for the third or fourth time, impatient to know the answer.

Since the moment she collapsed on the forest floor, heavily bleeding through her privates, I felt like something had gone terribly wrong. And after three hours, there is still no sign of her waking up.

"Alpha... It's... I-"

"What's wrong?" When the healer struggles to answer Anubis's commanding tone rang out, startling the life out of her.

"F-forgive me second alpha... But... It seemed like lady Eva had been pregnant when she went through the shift... and now-"

"She's pregnant?" I chimed in excitedly only to feel disappointment in the next second.

"She was pregnant-" Without a seconds delay, the healer corrected me and continued her explanation.

"-Unless necessary, no female wolf would dare to shift during pregnancy because it's risky for the baby and you wouldn't need me to tell how dangerous the first shift could be for a pregnant lady."
